The title basically says it all.

What are some ways to help yourself sleep without medication?

I'm tired, its 6 am, I haven't slept yet when I lay down for an hour and a half nothing happens. In a few more hours its going to be even more difficult to sleep because its going to be light out.

Anyone have any tips?

Thumbs up Re: Unable to sleep

Start doing situps until it hurts (not "ow! this is uncomfortable" but "fuck! my stomach's shaking from the burn") then do 40 more.

Apparently you're not workout isn't doing enough for you if you're not tired at the end of the day ... try incorporating more cardio into your workout

In addition, eat carbs near the end of the day so you get the 'itis - it should help.

I have the same problem. I lay in bed for hours and can't fall asleep. I'm going to cut out caffeine completely. Hopefully that will help.

Every other day I run 4-6 miles, I can't physically do much more cardio than I already do.

I could try to flip my workout where I run on "off" days instead, but I'd really prefer a different approach as it is more convenient for me.

Also, most people don't have to run to the end of the earth to be tired enough to sleep, why must I =(

As a side note, I consume almost no caffeine or any other stimulants. Any other tips?

If you want to go the supplement route:

-Taurine
-Magnesium
-Inositol
-GABA (GABA has been shown to have benefit in lab rats even if it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier very well).
-Valerian Root

I wouldn't recommend L-Theanine because it reduces serotonin to a certain extent.

Yea I know, I have that same problem too. I got medication for it but there are a couple things that can help. I found that a Kava Root tincture worked the best. I had one that said extra strength on it and it worked really well. If you take like, 3 eyedroppers full of that stuff it will put you to sleep pretty well. You also might want to try melatonin. The only problem with that is that over time your body can actually decrease the amount of melatonin that you naturally produce, and sometimes nearly stop its production entirely (not good for me, I took it every night for like, 7 years). Try the Kava root, though. Valerian will also work. The only problem with kava is that it tastes like ultimate shit, it makes your mouth go all numb and weird too. Don't try to substitute the pills for the tincture though, they don't work nearly as well.
