UK Over -reaction?
If you have access to UK news you'll be aware that 'crystal meth' has been in the news on and off quite frequently this year - not that there is much about - just that the powers that be are scared that it could get a foothold here.
Now, it seems that they are seriously thinking of removing PSE/ephedrine from behind the counter and making it a prescription only drug - great!!! we're all going to have to take that crap 'phenylephrine' which does not work for shit!! or go to the Dr and be under suspicion of being a drug producer....
Meth has been around for years and I don't know why but it has never caught on in the UK - amphetamine sulphate has always been the drug of choice here...but paranoia and publication in the press has renewed interest, apparently...

Re: UK Over -reaction?
swigd thinks that the powers that are, simply can't get there hands on the profit of the drug, there for regulate the it, turn it and BAM!!!! Controled substance then the powers that are, come up just like any other drug dealing hustler out there. Only thing that is sick as fuck is its legit they straight cut the middle man out. Either you slang for the Powers that are, or get busted manufactoring, thrown in 6 year min. unless you take drug court and do the 10 month bull shit, and 2 year probation. And if its federal the fuckers always got your number pop in and out your life anytime they want.... just swigd's hummm point of view.......

Thats the way it is in the US. The government is not making any money off of the clandestine labs, so they just outlaw it. If this were the year 1776 we would be having a hellofa tea party about now. We are taxed on the money we make, again when we spend it, and even more for the "priveledge"(sp) of driving on their roads and in their state. Taxes, taxes, taxes, taxes, taxes.......Time for another tea party!

The British government used to make LOADS of $$$'s off of Opium for years, many battles were fought over the control of opium and is the reason why Hong Kong was held by the British for so long.

Re: UK Over -reaction?
I wasn't around in Britain yet a decade ago, but I've heard from seasoned ravers that meth was quite easy back in the early raving years alongside, Es, speed and acid. I don't understand the media coverage really, it's not like England is a drug-free country waiting to be corrupted "new" drugs, I mean Britain has the highest drug use rates of all of Europe and I've read that one very fifteen Londoners is a crack user.

Re: UK Over -reaction?
Most people in the UK had not heard of Meth prior to this year when it started appearing in the press quite frequently...
I went to quite a lot of the raves held by 'Spiral Tribe' and 'Bedlam' and in those days there were buses with menus outside where you could buy what you needed (never saw meth, though) and there was also plenty of people going around shouting out 'E's, Acid' etc but then the Criminal Justice Act came in and put an end to the real big ones, small ones appear now and then but have to be kept real quiet otherwise people will be kept from initially congregating by police blocking access to certain roads/areas. If the rave has started and it is not causing too much of a problem they will let it take it's .course.
It was quite a good time as it was a truly free festival, people were there just to have fun and it was only after the criminal elements saw big bucks that any trouble appeared. It was like the old Stonehenge festivals which were held every year for the summer solstice, great , free fun , all the drugs etc you could want and selfpolicing. The police force themselves were not present in the festival and were only in 'proximity' just in case and to help out with traffic problems etc. Really good feelings when it's all about the music, the weekend, having a laugh and all for free. Great times.
