Default Building 8x12 Speaker Cabinet

Right now I have eight Celestion Super 65 speakers. I need ideas on how I should build this monster. I was thinking that instead of making 4x12 cabs I would make one huge 7' 1/2" cabinet. So I've done a quite a few google searches on how to wire one of these. Essentially it'll be two 4x12's that will be mounted together in one giant cabinet. Could I get some kind of 1/4th inch input (Radio Shack?) and use speaker cable to hook it to four speakers and then use it again for the second set below it? Will I need a way to power the whole system or can I just use the direct power from the amplifier to power it?

I'll try to get a scan of the sketch by tomarrow up.

Using your amp will work, but they won't be as loud without another external power source. Just build a box big enough to hold them all, and wiring should be pretty easy...

Say I dropped a 300watt power amplifier in there, would I need two different ones for both sets of 4x12's or would I need one to run the whole unit?

Depends on how loud you want it to get.

the contact points of a 1/4 inch jack are pretty tiny. the resistance of such small metal contact could cause loss of power transfer.
for large power transfer, you need to use lug connectors, like pictured here:

That's true for line level but not for speaker level.

Nothing in the car can produce enough interference to hear over sub woofers with bare metal connections.

Wow, so many things to take into account.

First of all, what are you going to do with this box? If you intend on using it as a car sub box and those are guitar speakers it will sound like ass, and won't last long.

Secondly, If you are planning on gigging with this beast and using it for your guitar, don't:
-Your bandmates will hate you for having to lug it around, and it will not fit in smaller venues
-A 4x12 cab is usually too loud for alot of places, and anywhere big enough to need more then a 4x12 should have a PA system adequate enough to mic up your cab and make it louder.
-Did I mention it's gonna be too heavy and loud?

For practical purposes I would split it up into 2 4x12's and set them up as a stack for jamming at home, and when playing out just take 1 of the cabs with you.

I was going to set it up in my practice space next to my halfstack. I may just make a 6x12 for shits and giggles and use he other two speakers for a 2x12 cab. Tomarrow I'll be picking up the wood. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up.
