People are going to flame this, but I think this argument definately holds a lot of merit, and I don't even like the gaurdian much.

Ok, in reality there IS a terror threat that we have to take steps to defend ourselves against. And Bush hasn't really done anything to curtail Americans' freedoms...unless you are a terrorist.

That said, of course we, as citizens, have to be vigilant.

So? You don't mind if a little ol' psuedo-Texan/fake cowboy goes against those no-nothings from the past? The Founding Fathers? Why is that? How far should he go? If things get 'bad', should he indefinitely postpone the '08 election?

Declare, that as the Decider, he knows best & make himself President For Life?

Did you actually read that whole article or just skim it? You didn't address any points...you just dismissed the entire thing. What exactly does 'vigilance' mean? Do you see much of it? How would it look? Would you know it if you saw it/saw it being suppressed?

I haven't heard too many supporters of El Presdente asking what if their hated/reviled rivals get the White House? They act like it's Bush forever & ever, amen!

Of course, the government NEVER makes mistakes deciding who's a terrorist and who's not, right? Not like people ever falsely accused of serious crimes.

I've heard an interview with an Egyptian-Amer who went easily through Customs while he saw some old white granny get the third degree. Zman talks about caution, but he seems awful trusting & gives poor reasons why.

I didn't say give blanket trust to the government. But, I'm not out of it enough to think this is like the Nazi Regime.

There is a wide variety of freedom limiting. No one thinks that bush is turing America into a new Nazi Germany. That's just a strawman on your part.
