Default Birthday Present

So its the 18th birthday of this girl I've been dating. Its only been about 3 weeks, she's my first girlfriend and I dont want to blow it. I'm going to prom with her this weekend too.

I'm terrible at coming up with gift ideas. I decided that instead of getting her something "material" that she could dislike, I would get us a pair of tickets to go see one of her favourite bands.

So ladies, do you prefer something material like a birthday teddy bear or a CD, or is something you cant actually "have" a good idea? Do you think going to a concert together is over the top for a couple of less than a month?

I already bought the tickets and the card I'm going to give them in and everything, in retrospect I should have asked somebody about it earlier....I feel pretty confident about it though.

Well, it's certainly not over the top. If the tickets didn't cost overly much, that is. I bought my girlfriend of just under 3 weeks at the time a locket for Christmas and we're getting married on the 15th of December this year.

I would have opted for the tickets myself, but a lot of girls would appreciate something less expensive and more material too. You should have asked before hand though, but either way I think you made the right choice.

The tickets were less that $50 for both.

i think you did good. you didnt spend too much for how early the relationship is, you gave the both of you something to do, you set up a potential good memory if you guys last a good while, and you said it was one of her favorite bands so it shows that you listen to her. good job

I can't believe no body has said it yet, but what she wants most is sex. Give it to her.

very nice idea! i imagine it'd be awkward to find a decent suitable material gift when it's only been three we3ks.

my boyfriend shelled out 160$ on tickets to my favourtiteband couple months back. no real occasion, but a lovely thing to do

I think thats a really good idea! Nice to stay away from the typical cliches... flowers, teddys, etc. And I'm quite big on "experience" gifts rather than material junk. SO yeah, I reckon she'll love it. Its good that its something you can do together :)
