Default mosin nagant m44

what do you guys think of these? I just picked one up from big 5 for 89.99 . I think its a cool little rifle. It has a sickle stamped on it so im guessing its russian. It is pretty clean for being 40-50 years old. t came with the cleaning kit, oil canister, and sling . It also came with a little stripper clip/ammo holder that attaches to the sling.
I will post pics later if you guys want to see it.

They're nice rifles for what they are, and you can't beat the price.

I looked up the markings and found that it is russian it also was manufactured in 1944. I cleaned it up and it only took a few patches to clean out the bore and barrel. The weapon is so easy to disassemble. The rifling also looks good from what i can see.

The whole rifle:

they're good, cheap, reliable, and accurate.

Buy some "armor piercing" steel-core cases of ammo. I's generally priced the same as lead core, but if they get around to banning it, who knows?

Sportsmans Guide and j&g sales had some pretty fair prices on the ammo recently. Buy it in bulk- it's really cheap.

This is going to sound rather odd, but do you live in the San Jose area? I saw one for sale for the same price at the Big 5 down the road.

noice mosin
i have a romanian 1955 m44
the mosins give the best bang for the buck..for around a hundred bucks you get a good rifle.
check the rifling..and the crown..those two are the largest factors in the rifle's accuracy

Mosins are good guns for the price. Cheap ammo to boot. I love my 91/30. However something that should be said as you don't seem to know a whole lot about these guns is to take great care to clean it after every, I repeat every, time you shoot it. The ammo is berdan primed so it's corrosive. The best way I've found to prevent this is to take the cleaning rod and run a patch soaked in an ammonia solution trough the barell and wipe off the bolt with the same solution. In leiu of an ammonia solution, glass cleaner such as windex can be used also. This gets rid of the chemicals that cause the corrsion. Then clean it as you nomrally would. Oh and by the way dose anyone here have any issues with the bolt sticking?
