A more stable primary?
Does anyone know of any primaries that are more stable than AP, I don't want to be a complete pussy but I just don't feel comfortable working with it, especially in large batches. So anyway does anyone have any ideas on a more stable primary that is not AP?
I thought about trying to make ANFO but I don't know the mixing ratios or the method of mixing the substances. Furthermore I don't know any websites that have a tutorial on making ANFO's, maybe you guys could spare a link?
And, what are the drawbacks to ANFO's (heat resistance, sensitvity, shelf life, can the substance be molded?)
Thanks

Re: A more stable primary?
you need a primary, and you're making large batches of it?
... eh, gimme a heads up if you don't get what I'm about to say ...
Most military primaries are insensitive enough to be used safely; we're talking lead styphnate, mercury fulminate, potassium azide etc. TNP, free of metals can double as a primary if you add a good source of ignition, like a bottlecap full of flash powder.
Double salts of silver have often been cited as the ideal primary, for having a low sensitivity, but a high VOD and thermal resistance.

Re: A more stable primary?
First thing's first.
You will NEVER need a large amount of ANY primary. Secondaries are there for a reason.
Second. If you have not successfully made any primary, you will be unable to detonate ANFO, even if you get the ANFO 100% optimal. ANFO is an extremely insensitive secondary explosive and is very hard to detonate without a large booster, let alone a primary for your cap.
Start small, and work your way up, don't start off looking for the easy thing that you can make a lot of.
Do a small (couple hundred mls of reactants) batch of AP, and figure out what you are dealing with. The best thing to do is come to understand the little things, and figure out from there what you want to do next, pacing yourself along the way.

Lead Picrate isn't bad, I'm about to start some experimentation.

How does silver acetylide compare to AP. Its going to be my next primary synth as soon as I get the chems.

From what iv heard its more sensitive than AP? But I may have got my sources mixed.
Also TNP as a primary? I find it to be REALLY insensive even to flame, shock and friction.
Although it was very much cap sensitive.

i ONLY use ag2c2.agNO3 for any detonations i do nowadays. honestly you only need like .2-.3 g's to get a 4-5 grams MHN booster going. plus the chems are relatively accessible if you can find a cheap AgNO3 dealer.

If you've got TNP and some nitrite... DDNP... Cock sucking whore...
I hate DDNP.

Hydrazine sulfate > hydrate ... + isopropyl nitrite > azides... then azoclathrates FTW.

Re: A more stable primary?
I refuse to use peroxides forevermore unless someone finds a way of making them reasonably safe. Easy explosive and as I learned the hard way, incredibly dangerous.
