The Game?
Anybody ever read this book? Guys, if not, get on top of it. Girls, suggestions, concerns, complaints?
This book was given to me in my freshman year of college, for all I know, it is THE reason I met soo many girls, gave me wayy too much confidence, and made me act like a fucking jerk to thousands of girls.
Yes, it gives you confidence. Yes, you will get laid. But... is it worth it? For me, I lost my mental attraction to girls (one which was a lot stronger than the physical), and made me think less of them.
So yeah, those who have read the book please comment on your reactions/feelings/etc......

Re: The Game?
I haven't read the book, but I can only imagine. Every time I've had a conversation referring to "game" my eyeballs continually roll until I'm done. It's so weak - I've made guys feel like assholes for that shit. I hate it.
The only girls that shit works on are fucking retards anyway.

Re: The Game?
Decent introduction to the community.. But heavily biased view of most people, especially Tyler and Ross. Neil "out of the game" Strauss is a cunt to be honest. I don't know if you've heard about the annihilation method thing where he sold his shitty DVDs for $3,750 per person to 375 people.. A million dollars. Congratulations to him I guess. I got them off torrent (just search "annihilation method") and they're pretty useless. He's cashing in on his situation to the max.
It also has a tendency to delude guys who become temporarily overconfident in their abilities because they never knew what was possible before. Eventually it sinks in that just because you've read The Game it doesn't mean you can apply the skills they have to real life. Reality may catch up to you when you realize you're unable to even approach a women, let alone hold a conversation with one, let alone seduce a supermodel.

You're very misinformed. Do read the book.
Every guy that's ever fucked you has known the principles in the game by heart, we just learn them. It's usually the intelligent girls that fall for it the hardest. The ADD party girls don't stick around to talk.

Re: The Game?
Yeah I have noticed it is really hard to work game on the sorrostitutes and party girls lately, although intellectuals fanticize about the guy you portray when in the "mode"
The smarter the girl, the easier she is. The more partier types just look for hott guys with sex on their mind, not a person who is able to work "the game" on them.
I seriously think that soon girls will switch up sociology so it will be much harder to seduce girls that way.
Oh and MrJojoRisin, it is definately a good read nonetheless, even if you dont believe in the game (rolling your eyes and whatnot..)

Yeah, I heard about that. A guy I knew who kept on top of all this PUA crap went absolutely apeshit over it when it came out, talking about how amazing it would be and how much he wished he could get a copy. Didn't he limit circulation to one per every major US city, or something like that?
A lot of the stuff does work, to an extent, but I don't see why you'd want it to. Nobody you pick up using it is having sex with you because they like you, they're doing it because you basically manipulated them into it. Fine if you can live with that, but I just don't see the point. It's vaguely depressing to think about.

Heh, you have no idea who I am. The reason I think game is fucking bullshit is because I'm real. And since I'm coming from within myself, it's very easy to sit on stable ground and knock guys off their little soapbox. I have a very strong sense of identity and by being myself, eventually some guys crack, stop being a douche bag and REALLY talk to me.
Others, the stupid ones, never really get it and I end up walking away.
I don't look at handling the opposite sex as a "game". I'm naturally very capable of handling myself in any situation, and that has lead me to be VERY successful behind the bar. I've met a lot of cool people for what they have to really offer and not some stupid ass front to impress other people. It's a waste of time, there's not enough fucking cool people, the last thing I need is asshole trying to act cool.
The intellectuals might be easier, but only because their judgment might not reflect their IQ. How does it make you feel that you're a fake?

Unfortunately this means it works on 99% of them.
Yes, in my experience it does work, and yes, in my experience 99% of girls - scratch that, of people - are drooling retards.

I'm afraid that all anyone EVER does is manipulate people into things. That's what social interaction, whether you like it or not, is. Asking someone for the time is manipulating them into giving it to you.

How is asking somebody for the time manipulation? It's manipulation if you get them to give you the time in circumstances where they otherwise wouldn't. It's manipulation if you get them to give you the time without them realising they're doing it. It's not manipulation if you straight-up ask, that's just... well, asking.

They wouldn't give you the time without asking. You're doing something in an attempt to get them to do something in response.
And I really, REALLY doubt that any girls are ever picked up without realising it.

So? The point is that you're not using any underhanded methods, you're not being deceitful and don't have any hidden agendas, which is what manipulation is. You're upfront and honest about what you want, which is just to know the time.
No, girls aren't picked up without realising it. That's a broad example of manipulation, not one applicable to PUAs. But I was applying it to your asking-the-time scenario. I didn't say girls were picked up without realising.

Re: The Game?
The book is an excellent read and it sort of had a discerning look on the guys that are actually involved in it.. well the guys at the top.
I think it was probably pretty biased though, I'm sure Strauss isn't as likable as he makes out to be.. when I see him on tv, I don't find him that charismatic really.
I'm sure he's got the skills with women, but I don't think he'd be likable as a guy friend.
As for the whole PUA thing, I use bits and pieces from it here and there, but I'd far rather try and be myself. I think the one thing that you can learn is to be confident and have faith in yourself and I don't think there is one woman who can criticize you for having genuine confidence, rather than the nervous wreck idiot guy.
I don't really see the problem with learning to talk to women, or trying to improve yourself. Sooner or later, women you date will learn your true personality anyway.

Damn, the same thing happened to me. What you're saying is absolutely true, I know from experience. I'm a man, but I was manipulated by a women who used those devious methods to seduce me at a biological level. It turned out that she read magazines and learned how to use make-up, clothes, and hair style to trigger the natural male sex drive.
For those who want to read the game, but can't be bothered to get it in real life. It's here:

But that's the thing, how can you define "underhanded" or "deceitful"? What if neither you nor the person you're interacting with think it is, but everyone else does? Or vice-versa? "Deceitful" could seriously be anything.
Also:
Nobody you pick up using it is having sex with you because they like you, they're doing it because you basically manipulated them into it.
Edit: I get the feeling you're about to say "You took that out of context"; if you do, you've completely missed my point and vice-versa.

It doesn't matter what people perceive it as. It's your intentions that matter, that should be obvious. If you intend to mislead or trick or whatever, or use methods you wouldn't want them to know about, it's deceitful. If you just ask, or act normally, don't use some "how to make girls that wouldn't normally give you the time tell you what the time is" book (I take it you get that analogy), it's not deceitful, it doesn't matter what other people think.
I get the feeling you're just arguing for the sake of it now

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/manipulate
You're both right. It means to use, but especially in a deceitful context. So asking someone for their time is manipulation. It is not, however, manipulative.

I dont know anything about the book, but the concepts are the same whatever book/website you want to look at. And the concepts are the same when you're out in the real world.
I totally understand what you mean. The more women I go after, the less I come to respect them. So when I end up getting them, it's not even worth it.

I'm sure you'd like to think so, but I've skimmed through some of the book and had conversations with a buddy of mine who's reading it. Alot of what's in there is pretty basic psychology.
That said, I'll agree it's more likely to work on the ditzier superficial type of girl, but some of the things in that book will pretty work on anybody.

Re: The Game?
Yeah - I've read it. It's a pretty good read, and when read in context, it does have a few good tips on how women think and how to manipulate them a little.
But it's hardly a definitive guide on how to meet and have sex with women....
I would recommend most guys read it at some stage, the same way I would recommend guys read all sorts of different books from all sorts of different. They'll all broaden your understanding of life, and make you a more interesting person when you do meet women.
