Since we all know that the male is typically the pursuer and the female is typically the pursued, the female must somehow make it known to the male if she fancies him, but must do so in a subtle fashion (at least in order to remain within societal norms).

So... What are some of these things that you females do to get the attention of a male that piques your interest?

This evening, I took note of a few of the classic, well-known methods, which I will mention. But I would also like to hear about some of the lesser-known methods. I know that some of this is done subconsciously, but a lot of it is in fact done consciously.

First, there was the classic hair play. This one, at least in this case, wasn't so subtle. The girl was trying to flirt her way into my friends wallet (and he called her on it). But of course, most times this can be an innocent show of interest.

Then later on, there was another girl on the bus, with whom a friend and I were discussing hockey. My friend was dominating the conversation, due to his much higher level of interest and knowledge on the topic, yet the girl's eye contact seemed to linger on mine.

After a while, I noticed her sit up, and kind of brush away her shirt, so as to augment the appearance of her chest area.

It seemed as though she was trying to put herself on display. This one caught my eye especially because of the fact that it just makes sense for one thing, as one would be naturally inclined to "show the goods" if they wanted to attract someone. Also, I have read about this technique, and learned that it is quite common amongst humans as well as many animal species.

So anyway, what are some other techniques and methods of showing interest in a guy? I want to be more aware of these things and more perceptive so as not to lose out on too many opportunities like I may have in the past.

Ive always just waited for the guy to let me know they have interest in me.. or ask me on a date etc. If i could 100% tell they had feelings for me or were showing interest then i was just direct and told them it was mutual.

i'd be making an effort to talk to them/see them. and i'd be close to them. ie group of people, i'll sit/stand near him. definitely hold eye contact more.

Generally I suggest one adheres to the "3 second rule", at least in a club/pub situation.

I.e. if you lock eye contact with a girl/guy go up and talk to her almost immediately so as not to talk yourself out of it/let her get away.

One thing you're confusing OP, is that everyone does this 'intentionally' like they think about it. That's not the case. "Flirting" for the most part is instinct, which is the same across almost every culture.
There are things people can do to make it go more quickly, or make you think you're more compatible with them.

I.E. Mimicking body movements in a conversation will allow the person to think they can relate to you better. Studies have actually found that couples who have been seeing each other for an extended period of time mimic each other's body movements down to fractions of a second.

Personally, having read relationship psychology studies till my eyes bleed, and other mating guides etc (>Psych major<) will usually stick with the mimicking, staggered glances, back arch, etc, and as it progresses if I want to get more serious do something subtle like "absent-mindedly" play with my low cut collar or whatnot, and pay attention when they start to shift their weight a bit. =)

if she laughs at dumbass jokes you make or reinitiaties conversation ("soo....")

If she keeps looking at you.
Thats the easiest one.

If you do something and she matches it, like taking a drink of water.

If she smiles alot.

If you smoke pot if your around her when your high you will see these things alot better.

That's a body language question, and there are entire lists on this subject.

The good news is, once you learn to recognize them, they are internalized almost immediately. I'm having a hard time listing them because I can just tell now.

A good trick to really tune in is to pay attention to people's body language all the time, and ask yourself "Why did she do/say that?" You'll probably be able to find a plausible answer and flying on confidence that you're right will help you even if you're dead wrong. Don't worry too much about indicators of disinterest. You don't want to focus on negative things.

I remember one time this girl kept looking at me on and on and on and on. So I decided to talk to her. Yea, we talked and she was six years younger to me. I didn't ask her number. Now I want her but there seem to be no fuckin way to get any info about her.

Lesson learnt: get her number even if she's underage, it won't be too long befofe she's legal.

I have noticed starring to be BY FAR the most prominent form of flirting, I catch a lot of girls looking at me, then I see them, they look down and I look at them for one more second and smile. It exerts dominence and they love it =)
