Default My first serious thread... ever.

I have no friends.

I just feel like killing myself when I sit on my computer after school, alone, until bed time.

It really sucks... Maybe totse isn't the best place for advice, especially since I'm Enter and all, but... yeah. I'll give it a shot since it's the only forum I'm part of.

What do I do?

Quit sitting on the computer and bitching about it. It wont do anything. If you want to change your life you have to actively get out and try, its not just gonna happen for you.

Start talking to people, go to some parties, join a sports team, a club, a gym, anything that will get you to stop sitting around on your ass all fucking day.

Get your life in order before you do something like that. Otherwise youre just setting yourself up for a situation thats ever worse than the last one.

I'm not switching schools, I've nearly finished year 12. I'm not good at sports and can't really talk to people that well... I have extremely low self esteem.

Also, "Quit sitting on the computer and bitching about it." is easier said than done. But yes, I have been trying the best I can... I've been to parties recently but they're all with people from my school. It's just, I don't know where to meet new people in such a small town. Everyone is connected to everyone else here.

I'm even thinking about just using my myspace for real to meet new people in my area, but... I've always really despised that. Besides, what cool people would want to meet people they've met over the Internet? It's just ridiculous.

It really sucks. Sorry if this post didn't make sense, I'm tired as fuck, and too depressed to care.

I'm in Australia, so I don't go to college, but I'm guessing university is the equivalent.

For Aussies... is uni a lot like high school, like... social wise? I actually don't know much about it.

college is the equivalent of TAFE. dont know too much about it as im only yr 10, but from what ive heard (older siblings) its completely different. being there voluntarily usually means they arent the complete dicks you get at high school, and they probably have alot more in common with you. :)

Uni is totally different to highschool. Even the people that have a shit load of friends on campus and stuff are thrown into the deep end when they have a class with 15 people they don't know.

Pretty much everyone is in the same boat and the majority of people are looking for new mates and people to kill time with on campus.

The only retarded social cliques that I've found at uni are all the American and Asian students that don't want anything to do with anyone else and would rather stick with their own, which is fair enough I guess.

There's plenty of social activities and stuff where you can meet people. Most universities over here have a pub night once a week where everyone goes and gets fucked up, meets new people and generally has an awesome time.

Plus, the women are hot.

Just go for self-improvement until you feel worthy of doing whatever the hell it is that you want to do in life. I find that the situation your describing is often by a young guy with a complete lack of self-respect, because you have no goals/accomplishment's in life. This results in a lack of motivation, a lack of confidence and experience which force you in this narrow way of thinking that often leads to depression.

I suggest you set some goals for yourself, if you're too far away (depressed) and you totally lost motivation, don't hesitate, see a doctor. If you can still manage, do it.

Start working out like crazy, read as much as you can, finish your education, and most importantly, stop worrying. Your life hasn't even begun yet, you're not missing out on anything, just give it some time till you feel ready.

Whoa. Go to uni. During '0' week (it's the week before uni starts up properly) you join up with whatever clubs look good to you. And every big club has a pub crawl/club/bbq/whatever to get everyone together. You get pissed, you talk to new people, and new friendships start.

Uni is chilled. You will almost definitely find a group you fit into.

Also, which state are you in?

The things that have been working for me lately have been increasing the amount of exercise I do (home gym ftw), and going out to the pub far more frequently. You say you have no friends, but surely you have at least one semi-friend? Ask them to go to the pub with you, and whenever you go out go to the same place. Once people there start to recognise you, you'll make friends pretty quickly, especially over a couple of beers.

- go to a pysch? I do, although I don't suffer from your same problems
- I know it's easier said than done, but think about it, if you try something new and it doesn't work out, it's a hell of a lot better than not trying and feeling even shittier because you realize you're too much of a pussy to take a chance
- uni will be better

yeah honestly man the whole self esteem bit is something you can gain by realising you are who you are and really stop giving a shit about how anyone perceives you every second...if someone doesnt like you, fuck them theres other people that will working to prove yourself to people is just bullshit

but anyway, the most realistic advice i could offer is to get yourself involved in as much as you can...you don't need to have friends be happy either. But really when most people get depressed they become lazy and force even more depression on themselves...find a hobby and get the fuck out of your house for once, it'll do loads to get rid of the whole sitting alone feeling bad time. seriously go do something...really do anything outside of sitting alone on the computer.

I can tell you: Never wait for, or rely on anything to magically change your sociability.

Sadly, since I learned that the hard way, I can't tell you is how to fix it.

University is alot better then high school for sure. 1st year everyone is in the same boat, legit. It happened to me in several classes, I'm not the most confident person socially until I am comfortable in a new place, or at least thats how I was, but if you just even say hi to the person next to you in class you have someone to talk to. Met some solid people first semester and second just from a simple hi.

Start exercising and pumping iron. It's wrong in all possible ways, but as soon as you start looking good people will generally invite you into their group.
