Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Starting tomorrow, I will be attending Penguicon (www.penguicon.org) for the fifth year in a row. It's a sci-fi/fantasy/linux convention with a ton of other stuff mixed in.
Why am I mentioning this in S&A? Two main reasons, and a smaller third.
Simply put, this is the one time of year I feel normal. I'm a basketcase around people most of the year, but I'm perfectly at ease (well, not perfectly, but close enough) there. I can go up to people I've never met and start a conversation. I can tell a joke without worrying about if I'll sound stupid making it.
Things like that are the main reason that my personal life is a wreck. Why I haven't had a date in, god, since around Christmas before last.
Which brings me to my second reason for posting here in S&A. The ladies.
Who knew there were so many woman geeks? Who knew there were so many weird, sexy, funny, beautiful, woman geeks?
And who knew that conventions like this are a prime opportunity to pick up a woman? Well I didn't, until last year. Suffice it to say, you get accustomed to seeing people dressed in odd stuff. The chick who was wearing a shirt covered in condoms, held on with paperclips, puzzled me until I worked up the nerve (aka blood alcohol level) to ask her what the deal was. Safe sex campaign, since random hookups are somewhat common at these things.
I intend to find out first hand how common.
I've never done anything like this. My flirting technique consists of a 'strike and retreat' approach over the course of several weeks. Not applicable, or really that effective in the first place.
I do have one thing going for me. I don't have the nervous twitchy spaz thing going on that I normally do.
If anyone can offer any advice or help, that would be awesome. Honestly, I'd settle for someone who I could hang out with now and then.
A few notes:
1. I am not an idiot. I will bring my own protection.
2. I am broke. As I have in the past 3 years, I am not getting a room at the hotel. It would set me back about $180 which I do not have. I carry clean clothes and soap in a backpack (amongst other things), and wash up in the bathroom.
3. I have an unwarranted sense of confidence due to events last year.
One last thing. If anyone is in the Troy, Michigan area, and is interested in dropping in, a list of events can be found here. http://www.penguicon.org/programming If anyone wants to meet me while I'm there, send me an email prometheansky@hotmail.com or IM me. My IM info is in my totse profile.

Hmm...
Might be a bit awkward if you're leaving with some chick and she asks if you should go to her hotel room or yours.
Anyway... Farewell, good sir, may you be prosperous and fortuitous in your quest to HIT THAT SHIT!

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Who knew there were so many woman geeks? Who knew there were so many weird, sexy, funny, beautiful, woman geeks?
Times are changing, man, and they're changing for the better. Geeks are no longer social outcasts. It's no longer uncool to be really into something and knowledgeable about it. Look how computer users have evolved over even the last two decades. It used to be that only the social outcasts used them to play their nerdy little games and figure out their scientific weirdo stuff, right? What about today? Well, the vast majority of the world's modern population would be totally lost without the use of their computers for at least a few hours a day.
And that's just an example. Female geeks don't have to be ass ugly. They just don't hold physical appearance in such high regard as the non-geeks. But that doesn't mean they can't be drop dead sexy. They're also not morons and really cool, too.
Go to the convention with the mindset of having fun and meeting people like you, whether they be male or female. And if you find someone you really like, just go for it and be you. Have confidence in yourself and you will succeed. Good luck.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
I sort of glossed over the not having a room thing.
I'm not the only one that does this, between 15 and 30 people do a variation of this. Stay awake the whole weekend, drink lots of coffee (free for guests) including the high octane, which is coffee brewed with caffeinated water. There are things going on around the clock, so you never get bored. Plus all the groups of people that get together and hang out all night. A number of people will also nap in chairs, and some guests will actually open their room for anyone who wants to sleep on the floor or use the shower.
There will be more of that this year, since the hotel is full, the overflow hotel is full, and everything else within 5 miles is full.
As for the aforementioned confidence builder from last year. To make a long story short, I helped a woman get unstuck from her oh too tight corset. It was glorious.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Quick update from the con. I'm about to say some crazy shit, but LifeJunkie can back me up on it. He was there for most of it.
You guys are going to be piiiiiised for not coming when you get a full con report. But here's a taste.
I just came from the UHACC room party (it's a Unix hobbiest group). Some genius built a giant wooden horse. Get it? Computer convention. Trojan horse? In Troy, Michigan.
So it's getting towards midnight. Everyone's had a few beers, it's getting kinda crazy. One chick climbs up on this horse, which contains a hell of a lot of stereo equipment, and is pumping techno. She's loving the bass. A lot. Some of you may remember me talking about her last year. She's the one who needed help taking off her corset.
A friend of hers gets on the horse too. Also busty as all hell, in a corset that's lifting those things way the hell up and out.
Now, LJ has pictures of me with my head buried in a nice pile their boobs. It's awesome.
This gets better and better. These two are close friends. The close kind.
What follows involved about an hour and a half of softcore lesbian stuff, including, but not limited to, tequila bodyshots, whipped cream, and ice cubes. Some of the ice cube application was administered my yours truly. I fucking swear Jessica got off while Melissa was licking her nipple.
A million pictures were taken, and I'll be linking them at some point in the near future. I swear I practically had my face right in there.
I managed to get hot smoochies from Melissa, with a possibility of more later. I didn't exactly proposition her. I did say something like "you're so sexy I had to use all my self control to keep from grabbing you in places you'd probably prefer I didn't." She's cool doing the exhibitionist stuff, but that made her blush. WTF? Later, I managed to say something like "We should spend some time together while we're here." I figured it was more direct than 'Let's hang out' and less sleazy than 'We should hook up.'
I also managed to humiliate myself, but with a smooth recovery, earlier in the night. I actually used a line I'd prepared in advance for just such a situation.
When I started sucking down beer before I hit karaoke, I said to the girl checking IDs and running the taps, "Is it true that bartendresses always get hit on?" She says "Not that I know of. Not one has yet." I say, "Alright, allow me to be your first pervert."
Turns out she came to the con with her boyfriend. So I say "Let me cover my embarrassment by asking who he is." She says, "Randy Milholland." Yes, that Randy Milholland (www.somethingpositive.net).
I simply say, "Wow. I don't know if I should be jealous of you or him." I'm a huge fan of his.
At karaoke, I also struck out. Two women who I'd met many times before were running the bar in that room. Mmmm, martini. I was being a little friendly than usual to them. I knew one was married, but that doesn't mean I can't flirt. Anyway, Jessica dropped in for a while (the same one from beginning of post, but earlier in the evening). After she left, I just said rhetorically to the two women I'd been hanging out with "Why are all the awesome girls already taken." The married one says, "I'd fuck you if I weren't married." The other one says, "I'd fuck you, but you're too nice. I like bad boys." In a feat of rare wit, I reply, "Fuck you, bitch." It was hilarious.
I think I'm getting the hang of this.
If anyone has anything to say, or advice to offer for my current situation, make it quick. I'm only here for another 36 hours or so.

Well fuck me. Seriously. That plan fell through. I asked Jess if I stood a chance. Melissa has a boyfriend. Still, according to her, Mel really likes me, which is why I got away with smooching on her. So confidence +1.
I'm off to try to find a single chick.

I could actually do that. There's a tshirt printing booth right here at the con. $20
Though if I were getting a shirt done, I'd go with my rocket surgeon idea. It's witty and strange.

That happens to me a lot in Counter-Strike. Everything will be going so well. 100 hp, kevlar and helmet, brand new M4. I jump out behind the enemy, aim at the head, and fire a perfect two-shot burst.
Then they turn around and kill me.
Okay maybe CS:S is just on my mind today, but I hope you understand what I'm diving at. :p It seemed to be going well but no luck.
But at least you had fun and are getting better? :)

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
And once again the situation has flipped. Still have the incredible dry spell, but managed to kiss 2 more girls. Mel's friend even gave me a little tongue action. I later found out that she's married. So what?
I told Jess that I practically need to have my inhibitions beaten the hell out of me. I don't know how, but not long later I found myself licking whipped cream off her rack.
God DAYUM this is a good weekend.
Now, on a down note. One girl I'd flirted with a few times, I found out that she had a guy, so I backed off. I just ran into her in the hall, and I say something about how I didn't know that she was with someone, and wouldn't have come onto her if I had. She starts bawling her eyes out. She caught her boyfriend in a lie (I do not have details, do not ask), and she it was the last straw, she had to dump him.
I tried to comfort her, but she needed alone time. All I could say was "You take care of yourself."

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Vino veratas. In wine, there is truth.
And I am fucking drunk for the first time in my life. All the free booze has added up. And it takes a hell of a lot to do that.
I kinda feel like an an ass for the way I've been behaving. Nothing to be done for it now, except to stop being an ass. I think I did an ok job when I was helping wind up yarn from kitten soccer (ask again when I'm sober). Eventual I offered the inventor of the sport to get her something from the con suite. She wanted her significant other (rhetorical). I said I'd get him. It was a her. I apologized for the assumption, but it really wasn't a bit deal.
I'm gonna try not to be an ass for the next 11 hours or so that's left. No promises.
Remember, I'm fucking drunk, and don't know how to handle it.
Keep in mind, drunk posting is irresponsible posting. Take care, reread, and disclaim.

Let's just say, the nice guy thing is working a bit. Spent some time with this chick who's kinda a milf. Not the best looking chick here, but definatly one of the most interesting. I've been helping her set up her booth in the vendor's room. We've been talking for hours.
I need to go get coffee. Currently on hour 46 awake.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
This is the single saddest thing I have ever read. Ever.
A friend of mine linked me to this, as he does whenever he discovers something unusually pathetic for totse. And "unusually pathetic for totse" is a chain of words you'd never want directed at you, or anybody you love.
At first, I was slightly bemused, for about three sentences. Then the disbelief in me just grew and grew. By the time the realisation sunk in that you're actually not joking I think I may have been in shock. And not just that "I'm shocked you're such a loser" type of shock, I mean full-blown medical "wrap this poor guy in a blanket and feed him some brandy" kinda shock.
I mean, Jesus Christ. I know that there are amazingly pathetic losers out there, and I know that the internet is the perfect place to interact with them and laugh at them, but fucking hell, prometheus, you really take the cake.
I'd offer you my sympathies and my condolances, but I think I'm currently beyond pity and concern, as every function in my brain has now shut down to accomodate my desperate attempts to blank out the fact that I share a universe with you.
God have mercy on your soul.

Hey, this girl was 13, I knew it from the start, and I told my friend he'd better not do anything that would get his ass thrown in jail. Seeing as how she looks like she's 19, wears a 36C (she volunteered the info), can put her ankles behind her head, and kept grabbing at my friend, I really wouldn't blame him if he caved to temptation. I'd kick his ass up and down the halls, but that's better than what her dad would do. I spent a while drinking beer with the guy before I learned who he was. Good guy. Built like a bull. Marine.

ROFLMFAO! Further proof at your "skills" of reading people! Dude, actually I'm in my 30's, happily married......and before my nuptials I probably banged more pussy than you've jerked off to. Now I certainly wasn't Mr. Suave or Debonair, or any kind of expert picking up girls.... but I definitely banged a nerd or two. And just like all females they DO get horny, they can cut up and party their asses off.....yet they STILL have some kind of standards.
You fail on so many levels, yet are oblivious to them. You come off as cheap because you don't get a hotel room. You probably smell despite your soap smear in the mens room. By day 3 or 4 if you managed to fall into a blowjob by some miraculous event.....you would probably have so much shmegma from your hygeine the entire encounter would end up disatrous for you. Imagine your shame when she is completely repulsed by that slimy scroungy cock of yours? The hair on your head is more than likely ratty and oily. Probably running crazy all over the place. And I don't care how ya got there.......whether its stone cold sober, caffeine blasting every 1/2 hour, or mainlining meth.....ANYONE up 46 hours straight has somewhat of a "wild" look.
So here is nerd girl scanning the room and momentarily observes Prometheus sitting on a bench by himself, while he is frantically posting Totse hourly con reports. He looks up and thinks, "wow she likes me". The haggard, somewhat smelly, very cheap Prometheus makes his way over and busts out this........
"you're so sexy I had to use all my self control to keep from grabbing you in places you'd probably prefer I didn't."
Remember that car crash analogy ealier? Here is where you hit some black ice, completely panicked, and are now rolling end over end over a cliff into a fiery watery demise. That could very well be the most assinine line I've ever heard. I'm talking Hollywood script hysterically bad. The 40 Year Old Virgin status of hilarity.
With all the free flowing alcohol you should of at the very least gotten a handjob on a couch, behind the fake palm tree.....or whatever it was that you called home that night. Advice for next year? Just pack 1/4 of some kind bud, and even if you are an anti-drug nazi.......you should have someone obliterated enough to make all your dreams come true. Or become an expert in roofies.
And one last thing you "party animal" YOU........usually when people are legitimately having a good time, they are busy enjoying that good time.....not giving play by play happenings to total strangers, who actually in the grand scheme of things don't give a shit about you.
Truth be told....if you listened to Jack and spent $15 on the T-shirt......THAT would have gotten you laid. Tsk Tsk....

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
It's a 3 day event, friday afternoon through sunday afternoon. so closer to 2 days.
I'm perfectly fucking aware of my social limitations, admit to them, and while this may not be the best place for advice on how to deal with it, at least I'm trying. What are you doing about your asshole problem?
I could go through what you said point by point, and fight every one of them. Some I'd lose, in far more you'd look like an idiot. But if I were to spend all stressing out what everyone thinks about me, I'd be so pissy that I'd just have to go take it out on someone, and I don't need that on top of my other problems.
As for the aforementioned MILF, that worked spectacularly well. I mean, she is a little irritated that I didn't make my move sooner so that we would have spent more time doing stuff rather than just talking, but still...
That may or may not actually turn into something. Don't want to jinx it.

Jinx it? Wtf are you, 12?
And yeah, this seems pretty pathetic, a desperate grasp at socializing and the 'normal' scene be those too far out of it to experience it usually, and comes off very awkard/unimpressive/etc., essentially a lot of greasy, stanky geeks running around going 'ZOMG BOOBS', except the boobs belong to equally greasy, super-pale, ugly geeky fat chicks. Yes, I'm generalizing, but that's the impression I get. A lot of desperation and futility, but hey, you're enjoying yourself, go for it, just don't expect the rest of the world to agree that it's the greatest thing on earth.

Normal people would consider getting drunk and making out with chicks with nothing else coming from it to be an utter disappointment, and would be more likely to complain about it on the internet than fucking brag about it.
Congratulations. What would be nothing more than a below-average wednesday night for me is the greatest experience of your entire sad, pathetic life. You must be proud.

Honestly, who the fuck has a rare moment of wit, which consists of 'Hey, fuck you!'. If he even seemed semi-human he may be worthy of some constructuve advice, such as 'wash', and 'wear clean clothes', and possibly 'shave your walrus beard, you ugly geek motherfucker', but he isn't... so don't. Prometheus, may whatever god created you have mercy on your soul (and the souls of the other deep sea fish and decomposers which it no doubt created).

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
What are you doing about your asshole problem?
LOL....this is truly classic! And what pray tell, is MY problem?
Hmmmmm, sexually the ONLY problem I have is the fact we have a 4 year old son who very often stays up later than Mommy since she has to get up to go to work at 4:30. So most of the time I'm only getting a piece of ass 2-3 times a week. Ya got any advice for THAT "problem"?
Oops wait, I thought of another problem I've had. About 3 years ago while climaxing during perhaps the greatest blowjob of my life, the orgasm was so intense that I actually ripped the towel rack right out of the bathroom wall. Ever since then it has been loose and shaky, and even after 4 or 5 times of trying to repair it I still can't get it as secure onto the wall as it was originally.
Ya got any "wisdom" for me in regard to either of my sex "problems"??????

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Guru, you can take the towel rack off and put in some anchors. Then put the rack back up.
That'll take care of the annoying looseness.

LOL....I tried that, but the problem is a nice chunk of drywall pulled out as well. I went the route of putting that caulk/pasty stuff to fill in the hole, and I think that is where my problem lies. The anchors just won't set in as firm as they did in the original drywall. A while back someone suggested replacing the whole piece of drywall, but as handyman stupid as I am that thought gives me much pause. Maybe some day if it really starts to annoy me (check that.....WHEN the day comes that the WIFE is fed up with it) then maybe I'll post this issue in the DYI forum. Or I'll just break down and hire a contractor to fix my mess for me.
Thanks for the help though! : )

Seriously, so the guy has a problem having casual sex with women, so bloody what? I don't exactly think it's something to aspire to personally, and I don't think someones impressive for being able to pull it off.
Why don't you pLaYa's give him some awesome (lawl wingman PUSSY IS PUSSY) techniques?

This is totse after all. Trip, Guru, and anyone else can be as big a jackass as they want. I'd be surprised if I didn't draw a few for confessing to being a geek.
It doesn't take much effort to make things up, take things out of context, and hurl insults. Tends to draw a lot of attention too. That's why everyone does it.
I honestly don't care what they think of me. And that's the last I have to say on the subject.

Whilst I can understand the percieved patheticness that you're labelling prom with, give him a fucking break, he's making an attempt to do something normal.
Maybe I'm lamenting on my dryspell (haven't had sex in about a month, not even a random make out) and understanding that its good to break the dry spell (though to be honest, I think its might slight alcoholic tendencies.. the ones that say I should have a few pints before I go chatting up girls, then make me drink 10-11 pints of beer before realizing I'm too fucked to do any pimping).
Fact is, he's giving it a shot. This is hardly pathetic for totse.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
I honestly don't care what they think of me.
Well, that's good, in a way, but it's hardly the issue here. It doesn't matter what we think of you. All that matters is what you actually are. Not caring what we think is great, but have you stopped to consider the chance that maybe you're so quick to say this because you're trying not to deal with the fact that we're right? I mean, you're a fucking loser, and you should deal with that and try to better yourself whether or not we think you're a fucking loser too.
I mean, I might sound like a nasty fucker who wants nothing more than to cut you down, but honestly, I would prefer to see you better yourself, and to feel that perhaps my words helped you.
I can see that you've blocked out any hurtful things we might have said with your total apathy towards our opinions. I just hope that this apathy doesn't continue over to your real problems, or even foster total denial over them.
Because ; let's face it. No matter what any of us think, you are one of the most pathetic fucking losers on the face of the planet. Seriously.
Just look at it objectively. Think about every woman you've ever approached. Think about that brief look of disgust and revulsion they couldn't help but show before they managed to mask it and quickly compose a gentle way to turn you down... the kind ones, anyway. Think about your parents. Think about the life they could have had if you never existed, think about the life they're living now, because of you. Think about your friends. Think about that annoying friend you have, everybodies got one. Think about all the times you just wished he's piss off. Now, think about all the times you've been that annoying friend. All the times you've known... not felt, not thought, but known that you were annoying the rest of your friends. That they didn't want you around. That they didn't really like you. Now think about all the times they've felt that way and you haven't realised.
Think about your future. Do you have one? Just years and years and endless fuckin years of more disappointment, more regrets, more mistakes. A boring shitty job lined up for you, to eat away the prime of your life, and trust me, a person like you would be lucky if that even adds up to a week. Hours and hours every day of wishing you were at home, or maybe no job. Maybe you'll end up a wandering aimless dole-mole, spending hours and hours of every day sitting at home wishing you had something to do, and money to do it with, sleeping behind that fake palm tree at the Linux convention every single year and stinking of sour sweat.
Think about your love-life. I mean, obviously it's improving, you're trying to come out of your shell and tap some ugly geek chicks, but that's just sex. Think about love, the human desire to be with another human being. You know, you don't feel, deep down inside you know that you're too inferior to actually manage to end up with any woman you actually want. You know that any girlfriend you ever get is going to be a mirror of your own inferiority, flawed, ugly, uninteresting, boring. And you might not know it now, but every time you look into her face you're going to see yourself looking back at you. Your stripped, naked, raw self, screaming in self-loathing. "Why? Why are you doing this to me? What are you doing with her? You don't like her? Is she the best you can get?" And the answer, harsh, and unforgiving in your own mind, will inevitably be "Yes". "So what, are you so weak you need to be with a woman you don't even like? If the best you can do is just her, why are you with anybody at all? Are you so fucking weak you can't live on your own, you need to pretend that you actually love somebody just to get through your miserable fucking days?." And the answer, harsh, and unforgiving in your own mind, will inevitably be "Yes", once more. And that's when you'll start to realise, slowly but surely, that she feels the exact same way about you.
Think about everything I've said. Think about it, and make the decision that deep down inside you know is the right one for you. I'm not saying you should kill yourself, nobody but you can truly know whether that's the best option for you ; all I'm saying is that it's something you should seriously consider.
Don't let denial keep you locked into this godawful parody of a life you've dug yourself into.

Oh, and have you considered just plastering up the wall completely, throwing out the towel rack and buying one of those towel racks that stand up on their own instead of being attached to the wall? They're kinda like those little clothes airer things but designed a bit different.

If you want to do something to impress, you can install a towel warming system. They're getting rather affordable and can be nice on a cool day.
Replacing the drywall is an easy thing, but you'd have to paint again. That can be a chore.

But you do sound nasty, and you don't say anything helpful. You just say how awful you think he is. No, that sentence was actually a blatant lie, because I say nicer shit than that to people who I would like to induce suicide on.
Woot for you, you leet-ass motherfucker. You are clearly so far superior to any of us, because you're thirty and posting blowjob reports for complete strangers to read. I call bullshit on all of your claims.
What is it about him you can't stand? He thinks or acts differently than you? Oh, maybe its the fact he uses linux. Is Microsoft just good enough for everybody?
I love how you can extrapolate SO much of his life out of this thread. Apparently, because he didn't get laid in one 72 hour stretch, he must just have no friends, have parents that hate him, have a shit job, etc. I mean, maybe you know something I don't, or maybe you're just fucking Professor X with some fucking machine to read the life stories of totseans.
In the meantime, while you're composing long "omg everybody teh h8s u" posts, he's probably THINKING. Thats the root of it, probably; you're some fucking praetorian who hasn't had one intelligent thought in his LIFE, and this dude didn't get laid in one weekend. well fuck the world, he just must be an amoeba.
Go suck a cock, you praetorian scum. You have no basis to even be on Totse, its too "geeky" for you. Why don't you go to a wild drinking sex orgy party and drive home in your highlander.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Just to get one fact straight. I may have a bitch of a time meeting women. A lot of that is because I'm too damn timid. A lot is because I land in the friends zone more often than not. And a lot of it is me putting my foot in my mouth straight off.
But when I get past that, I do damn well. It's just the meeting part that I fuck up. Ask anyone I've ever dated. I listen. I take a genuine interest in the bullshit that happens in a woman's life. I'm a reliable shoulder to cry on. And I'm a randy pervert when the situation calls for it.
I probably do better at relationships than 90% of people here. It's dating that I suck at.

Trippy and Euda....thank you both for those unique ideas that hadn't occurred to me. I think a trip to Home Depot is in my future to explore those possibilities.
As for Prometheus, I couldn't agree more. Perhaps someday in his future after getting more life lessons and some street smarts he'll look back and say "damn, those Totse folks WERE right all along, my god how could I have been so stupid and oblivious". But for now, none of this will sink in. He needs a safety net in his entire life, and will ALWAYS take the safe easy route that he is comfortable with. Until he thinks outside the box (at least his narrow box) and changes his tactics history will continue to repeat again, and again, and again.......

You guys are pathetic, and by "you guys" I mean "everyone making a big deal of Prometheus' so-called patheticness."
Big fucking deal, he's got some social ineptness. That doesn't make him a loser, or pathetic. There's more to life than "LOL I FUKKED SO MANY GRLZ LOL!!!!1 N ALSO I WUZ REAL POPLAR IN HIGHSKOOOL N SHIT!!!1" Prometheus is very intelligent and knowledgeable, and better yet, nice. He's having fun and making progress. I personally think that he's making too big a deal of getting laid, just like DaGuru & co seem to be, but whatever. Leave the man alone; it's his life, and I'm willing to bet he'll find a girl as intelligence and interesting as he is.
Final thought: It doesn't matter how many girls you've supposedly stuck your willy in, if you're an asshole you're scum.

I honestly thought I was done with this thread, but since you used me as an example....let me clarify.
I don't give a rat's ass if he banged 20 broads at this convention or stays a virgin till he is 80. And I certainly don't think anyone's "tally" of babes is indicative to their manhood, or quality of a human being in general. I was trying to point out his FLAWS, to attempt to show him why things were going so badly and why he is NOT hooking up with anyone. Just to summarize.......
1) He is cheap and considers this all an "adventure" not ponying up the cash to get a hotel room. The fact is that is HIS perception, and more than likely NOT the way 99% of the women will view it. This isn't some camping trip where everyone is in tents and the outdoors just fending for themselves..... instead it is in the confines of a hotel with most modern conveniences available. The fact he is NOT using the same conveniences that most everyone else is, already SETS HIM APART from the other convention goers. From the way he describes this event, it is like the biggest and most exciting thing he does each year. If he REALLY was that passionate about it, he would find a way to do it right and get the most out of the experience by finding the cash. (And he did start this thread out talking hopefully about getting some conquests) So in essence he could start saving up TODAY for next years event. That would be 50 CENTS a day to equal $180. You telling me he can't swipe 2 quarters from his Mom and Dad's change jar a day, in the hopes of getting a piece of ass a year from now??????
2) His appearance........He slams his coffee, changes his shirt, rubs soap on his torso, runs water through his hair....VOILA!.... all better right? Please! The interesting thing about body odor is most of the time people can't smell their OWN. So while he may think he looks good "enough" to walk back out into the convention, it certainly isn't good enough to create enough appeal to the opposite sex. To them he just appears to be a wild eyed, smelly, haggard looking weirdo.....geek or no geek.
3) His pick up attempts....... Even if the women DO look past his bizarre appearance, then we have the art of conversation. Lets look back on one of his examples....
"you're so sexy I had to use all my self control to keep from grabbing you in places you'd probably prefer I didn't."
Possibly one of the most awkward sentences ever read, much less said to another human, wouldn't you agree? Now go back to the original post and see the tone and context of how/when he said it. He actually thinks this was a satisfactory comment. Until he realizes how completely ridiculous that and other similar things he said were, he will NEVER move forward socializing with women.
4) His maturity......Again, it baffles me he looked forward to this event for a whole year, and then while he is "having the time of his life" he decides to give us almost an hour by hour update of this great time. If you are at Disney World, laying on a beach, taking a cruise, on a hunting excursion.....people may think "gee I wish so and so was here to enjoy the fun". But his thought process is....."I gotta tell Totse about this place", mistakingly thinking that his experiences couldn't wait till he got back. Couple that with the fact of his very verbose bragging about "making out" with women. That is something a 13 or 14 year old is "proud" of or brags about. NOT ADULTS!
So no, my criticism was not scoffing at him because he didn't get his dick wet. What I was trying to do was get him to think outside of HIS mindset and give him another perception, to perhaps give him a better success rate in the future. Clearly I failed on that note.
But not nearly as badly as he failed.

That post was helpful, interesting, perceptive, and generally spot-on. What I don't understand is why you didn't do something like that in the first place instead of being an asshole about it!
I dunno, maybe I'm getting you confused with Trippy. :p My comment wasn't aimed at you, really, just at everyone screaming about how Prometheus is such a terrible failure at everything.
people may think "gee I wish so and so was here to enjoy the fun". But his thought process is....."I gotta tell Totse about this place"

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Prometheus, this is extremely long, but you really need to read it. No one else has to read it, unless you want to quit sucking at life.
Theres a saying, "Its always darkest before the light". This applies to you because you are at rock bottom, so you CAN work your way up, but it may take years. I was actually once like you.
In middle school, i was a pussy who played video games 24/7 while my classmates were out having fun, chilling with girls and whatnot. Like you, i didnt see anything wrong with my lifestyle, as this is what i was accustomed to. But one day, towards the end of 7th grade, i hit rock bottom. The girl whom i had a crush on since elementary school made fun of how i dressed, and my short, slicked down, parted hair, in front of the whole class at lunch. Everyone, even my nerd friends laughed at me. That night i went home, and i'm not gonna lie, i cried myself to sleep.
The next morning, i woke up, and i realized my life was completely shit. No one was loyal to me, i sucked as a person. The only thing i could do was try to <b>Reinvent Myself</b>. Over the summer, i went to the mall, and watched the "cool" people walking around. I looked at how they dressed, their hairsyles, and how the effortlessley picked up girls. I learned from them, i grew my hair into a shag style, started wearing Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister and all that stuff. The next year, i moved to another school, and on the first day, one of the coolest people in the school came up to me, and i joined his group. From that point on, my attitude changed, my self confidence changed, i actually started talking to girls, and several had crushes on me.
Its been three years since that day, and I am a completely changed man. I have awesome friends, whom i drink and do drugs with every weekend, i've had 4 girlfriends and countless hook-ups in 6 months alone, and i feel incredible. Four years ago, i would have never imagined that i would turn into the man i am now. Hollister asked me to work as a Model/Brand Rep, and i meet awesome people everyday. I broke up with my girl today, and 3 hours later, I had a lunch date with one of her friends, and i have another one tomorrow.
I became the man i am now because on that fateful day in 7th grade, I KNEW i had to change, and i WANTED to change more than anything. You can do this too. If i overcame all these obstacles, you can definately do it. Shop at Abercrombie, or if your too poor for it, get some clothes from Express for men. Buy form fitting clothes, work out at the gym, and then venture into the real world. Fuck all those nerd bitches, go to clubs and approach women. Challenge yourself to talk to every girl you see, and all though you may get rejected, theres bound to be some girls who will be interested in you.
On another note, quit using linux or any bullshit like that, and dont invest your time in money in video games. Don't use any pick-up lines, girls hate that. Just talk them like you know them. And learn some fucking people skills. Believe it or not, being able to speak Klingon fluently will NOT get you laid, it'll get your ass kicked.
This is going to take a while, but if you ever want a normal girl, it is imperative that you change. Go to clubs, learn to dance, learn how to play guitar, girls love that stuff.
You CAN do this, you just need to quit being a fuckin bitch. I know deep down, you hate your life and you want to change. You only live life once, so whats the worst that could happen? You make some cool friends and hook up with some ladies? So just do it, pussy.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
You folks seem to have a pretty specific idea of what my problem is, and the sort of person I want to be.
The majority of you are so far off it's laughable.
Dave, if your current lifestyle works for you, good. I'd rather eat my wardrobe than become a boozing burnout womanizer though.
However, I appreciate the fact that you're actually trying to impart some advice, rather than spending all your time telling me what a loser I am.
And for the record, I can't even remember the last time I bought a video game, my Klingon is far from fluent, I'm fully aware of how lame pickup lines sound, and it was a Linux oriented event I went to, so I think you can grant me some latitude on that one.
Yes, my social skills are in the shitter. I've never denied that. I've made some progress on that front over the years, not as much as I'd like. I have a few neurological conditions that complicate that. The new medication's been helping. In fact, I've been in a much better mood than usual all week.

Oh my fucking god, you utter praetorian!
"yeah, I was a total loser until I STARTED BEING EXACTLY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Thats just what you have to do man, lulz!"
You are the scum of humanity, you prep asshole.
I'm in pretty much the same situation as prometheus, so let me respond.
I DO NOT HATE MY LIFE. I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE. I DO NOT WANT YOUR "COOL FRIENDS" OR YOUR "LADIES" THAT ARE BRAINDEAD WHORES. I DO NOT WANT A "NORMAL" GIRL.
I know this is utterly imperceivable to you, you abercrombie whore. Your mind is narrow and you made it that way. You are damned to your "happy" life, but an ignorant life. You are going to remain in that stasis for EVER, because your pathetic type is utterly incapable of waking up. I can't believe you tell people that "they've hit rock bottom" IF THEY AREN'T YOU.
I hope that one day, while I'm firebombing an abercrombie, that you are in it, and you perish amoung full size black and white pictures of a foolish ideal of men in some ridiculous state of nudity playing lacross with other people like them.
Get the fuck out of high school. You will one day in a physical sense, but you never will mentally.
This pisses me off so much. Why are you even on totse? As I have said, TOTSE IS FOR NERDS!!!! ITS ON TEH INTRANETS!!!! RUN!!!

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Well, I was at the conference with Prometheus. He seemed to me like a normal, well adjusted guy.
I have only two observations:
1) Shave the beard down to about 1/4 inch.
2) You are scaring the girls away because you are so eager to communicate with them that I think they find it intimidating.
You also have to understand that the girls that come to these sort of things are not exactly the type to take home to mom. Thus, it's not a representative statistical sample that you can apply to real life.
In real life, in my experience, you have to be capable of maintaining a friendship type of relationship with women before you will have the facilities to maintain an intimate relationship.
This is my advice:
Look directly in the eyes of every woman in your visual range. If she looks back and smiles, approach her and talk to her like you were talking to one of your guy friends. I don't mean talk about nerd shit or baseball or cars. I mean talk to her as though you respect what she has to say about the topics that interest her.
If you see a girl in a bookstore wearing a NIN t-shirt, walk up to her and say "Hey, what did you think of the new year zero album, do you think it's better or worse than his previous work?"
I don't care how nervous it makes you, just do it. The worst that can happen is that she gives you an earful of noise. I can almost guarantee that will not happen if you are sincere and are really interested in what she thinks of Trent Reznor's work.
This is not a recipe, it's just an example of the mindframe that you need.
Band shirts are an instant conversation starter. Deep down that might be why she's wearing one.
You can also look at the cover of the book she's reading and if you think it's interesting, start a conversation about it.
I promise that the woman will not hit you, yell at you, or make you feel like a total reject.
Think about what you would do if a woman you would not normally be attracted to came up to you and said "I think the university chemistry requirements are going into the shitter". I know what you would do. You would say "I think you may have a point" and go one for 20 minutes about why it may be so. What you would NOT do is say "I think you are an ugly bitch, and I want you to go away".
See what I'm getting at?
The women you are afraid to talk to are just like you.
The women that reject you right off the bat are not women that you would be interested in anyway.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Prometheus/Prometheum... what's the deal here?
Seriously, every time I've come onto totse while one of you had the green online thing lit up, the other one has been online too. They seem to post within minutes of each other quite a few times, and forgive me if perhaps the similarities between their names have subconciously affected me, but....
... well, the impression I'm getting is that they're both the same person, and Prometheum is an outlet for Prometheus to express his outrage and anger ; kinda like a violent, unstable and utterly miserable retarded sociopath who only expresses his murderous intentions through his sock puppy "Stabby".
I mean, we lay on the "You're a fucking loser" thing and Prometheus accepts it with good grace and more than a little hint of sad acceptance. Then Prometheum bursts in all over the place to scream at us for being the internet incarnation of those preppy jocks who beat him up and treated him mean in high school.
Seriously, has nobody else noticed this, or is this some commonly-known thing that everyone else has accepted enough to not be creeped out by it anymore?

Trippy.. what the fuck are you talking about?
How the hell can you consider Prometheus one of the most pathetic losers on the face of this planet?
Because he doesn't get laid all that often, or doesn't get pissed all the time?
Fuck you. There are far worse people out there.
You don't want to see him better himself, you just want to make yourself feel big with a ridiculously long post. Let him live his own life without you crticiszing how he does things. You're a bigger loser than he is.

Popular kids? Who gives a shit whos popular..
You're trying to assign the words cool to people that go out drinking and doing drugs and having random hook ups to be cool.
Let a person do what he wants to do because he wants to do it, because it makes him happy.
I'll not lie to you, I get drunk, stoned, laid as much as the next guy, but I don't criticize others for wanting to live a different life. One day you'll learn that it pretty much is a shallow happyness.
I'm having to cut down on drinking ridiculous amounts (I'll drink 10-12 pints of a 4-5% beer on the average night of drinking) know that it doesn't do me any good and I can have fun without having to wreck my liver.
At the same time, I've lived the nerd life (and am quite happy to from time to time), so I know how it goes. Going to something like a convention (to me it was the pro-M:TG scene) can be stupidly good fun. You talk a load of shit with some guy friends (a lot of nerds have better social skills than the old stereotype - one guy is in a band that's getting quite successful whilst another had a hot wife and kids), get drunk in the evenings, end up slumming up against a wall to kip, have a day being a nerd then chill with your amigos before heading home.
Whilst I can accept that it is kind of sad that Prometheus's highlight of the year is a con, that's his life and he can change it if he wants to.

ZeroMalarki, I'm trying hard to be nice, but you are one ridiculously insecure idiot. I don't even know where to start with your godawfully ridiculous stupidity.
You question how I can consider Prometheus one of the biggest losers on the face of the planet. Like Durell said, try reading what he's actually written. I say this with utter certainty ; Prometheus is one of the biggest losers on the face of the planet. It's not my opinion, it's fact. I'm not calling him a loser because he doesn't get laid/drunk enough, I'm calling him a loser because he goes to Linux conventions and lusts after 12 year olds and then posts their pictures on totse, I'm calling him a loser because he sleeps behind a fake palm tree at a Linux convention, I'm calling him a loser because he thinks "hey, fuck you" is a moment of 'rare wit'", I'm calling him a loser because he uses lines so hideously embarrassing I'm ashamed to share the same biological Genus as him, and I'm calling him a loser because HE'S TWENTY-FOUR FUCKING YEARS OLD AND BRAGGING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT MAKING OUT WITH CHICKS!!!! Jesus H. Christ.
And just by the by, for somebody railing on me for "attaching the word cool to people who drink and get laid", which I haven't, you sure do brag a fucking lot about how much you drink and get laid. LOL 10 PINTS AT 4 PERCENT LOL I HARDCORE! Do you see me listing how many times I've gotten laid in the last week/month/year/lifetime, or calculating up the alcohol content of my average day out? For all you know I could be a teetotalling virgin, because I'm secure enough in my superiority to you and every worthless guttercrawling mollusc like you to have nothing to prove to totse bottomfeeders I'll never actually know. You do. You could drink a crate of vodka and get laid four times a day, you'd still be a fucking moronic loser who tries to justify your existence to people on totse who simply do not care. You must be one seriously insecure and pathetic excuse for a human being, you realise that?
Don't ever speak to me again, mollusc.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
I'm explaining things in your terms dickhead, that is why I felt the need to elaborate on my lifestyle. Of course, it was entirely unnecessary to do this, but I for some reason felt I ought to show I speak from experience of both lifestyles.
Yes, I can understand why you perceive him to be a loser, but you're justification is pitiful. Prom doesn't need to be posting about what he does over a weekend, but he enjoys the feeling of expressing it in words. If you had any sense of humour, you could see what he does is funny.. not pathetic.
Question this: Is what Prom doing harmful to anyone? No. You may find his patheticness insulting, but you're trying to act like you're some kind of superior being, to not just him, but me. Does this do any harm to me? No, I'm a little insulted, but I'm rather amused at your belief that I am stupid, or inferior. What you say reminds me of this popular hate for people we may label as "emo" or "preppy" or "nerdy". What these people do in their lives should have no concern to any of us. We should live our own lives.. criticism towards them is entirely pointless, we should be spending our time enjoying ourselves doing what want to do than all this needless hate but yet, it still happens.
You are kicking up so much stink about somebody else's choice of life it is unreal (though likewise it is strange why I feel the need to defend Prom's choice of life) and you come off acting like your king dickhead. So this is what I propose:
You let others live their life and I will too. You want to pick apart the patheticness of people, go into bad ideas and start shooting your mouth off in there. There are far bigger pieces of shit in there.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
I am nobody's sock puppet, thank you very fucking much. The similarity between my name and Prometheus's is just coincidence, and if we're on at the same time, we might be in the same time zone or something, I dont' know. I just think I'm a bit less accepting of FUCKING PRAETORIANS than he is.
To satisfy your interests, I was never beaten up in high school. The preps were afraid of me because I wore black and leather and listened to bands whose lyrics they couldn't understand, but vaugely got the emotion of extreme anger and hatred from (I played burzum in class once) and they left me the fuck alone, probably for fear of me casting some sort of curse on them (the fact I was a red belt in tae kwon do may have played a part as well). One time actually, I shouted the first line of the ring-rhyme in orcish, and this one dude ran away screaming. Stupid preps.
As for you, I'm ashamed to share a planet with such a fucking praetorian. I get high (though I don't drink; depressants are pointless) and get laid as frequently as I want. I can also think independently of my clique, which is something that for all your pussy, you cannot and will not ever be able to do. If I just saw you, I'd pity you. But as you've opened your mouth, I have nothing but rage at your utter stupidity. I mean, whats next, are you going to flame him for not having as many friends as you on Facebook? Are you just so t3h popular? Is the fact that you have EMPTY, MEANINGLESS friendships comforting? Any one of them would stab you in the back without a seconds hesitation to get more power, and you'd do the same I'd bet, you fascist. I know a good clique for you, its called the World Church of the Creator.
And what the fuck, "sad acceptance"? Prometheus never accepted anything about "be1ng t3h losr lol", he just acted mature (another thing you aren't capable of). Hell, he's a mod, he has to be. I, on the other hand, am perfectly capable of expressing my rage towards you. I only wish you were nearer to me in person so I could bring your abercrombie-crafted LAX body to a whimpering hulk. Would your friends stand with you then?
You live in a world devoid of loyalty and honor, and anyone who isn't in that world is just doomed, aren't we? Everything you say is geared at making Prometheus one of you. Did you consider the possibility that he didn't want to be? Some of us ACTUALLY are confident in ourselves the way we are, without fucking reenacting The New Kid. Your life is an american pie movie, and one day, you're going to drink the proverbial beer that has my jizz in it. If you haven't already.
Get off of totse, its too nerdy for you, you praetorian!

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Wow, you sure have issues. Criticising someone for being a complete loser doesn't automatically make the critic a prep, you fucking idiot. Oh, and nice job defending the fact that you were picked on in high school by ranting on about your 'Me vs Them', mentality; that doesn't make you look like you're compensating at all! Now tell me, on a scale of 1 to 10, how badly does it hurt when someone pushes you into a locker?
To satisfy your interests, I was never beaten up in high school. The preps were afraid of me because I wore black and leather and listened to bands whose lyrics they couldn't understand, but vaugely got the emotion of extreme anger and hatred from (I played burzum in class once) and they left me the fuck alone...
'I wore black and leather and listened to angry music'. Truly thou art terrifying. I'm sure people were petrified of you putting a hex on them, rather than just avoiding you because you're a colossal fruitcake. Now, before you start PMS'ing again I'd like you to realise that, unlike your unjustifiable supposition's toward Trip, my comments are backed by your own emo rant. As for HOW you judged Trippy, let's get to that:
Judging his friendships --> No justification --> You're a fuckwit.
Assuming he uses facebook --> No justification --> You're a fuckwit.
Judging his ability to think for himself --> No justification --> You're a fuckwit.
Actually, based upon all your judgements... you ARE a fuckwit. You're the biggest fuckwit that I've ever seen grace any internet forum. Congratulations, you have transcended the usual Totse level of fuckwittedness and redefined the very definition of the term. Well done.
The praetorians have formed their Imperial opinion.
You almost suck as much as Prometheus, you fucking fuckwit.
P.S. I'm sure everyone fears someone who's a 'red belt' in Tae Kwon Do... loser.

But using his own logic how can you understand if Prometheum is right or wrong? You can't interpret his thoughts from his viewpoint without being him.
Wouldn't you have to devise your own way to think of how he might be feeling to make progress?
Prometheum, do you think that Durell is on the same level as you because he/she/it can perform independant thinking of its' own of an assessment they had to conclude on their own? How are they any different to you in that sense? You are the same.

Anyways, Gold n Green... I know that Trippy isn't a prep, hence the stupidity of Prometheum's assumptions. In that regard, he's wrong. Facebook? Wrong. Friendship comments? Wrong. All of it? Wrong. This isn't some kind of enormously subjective argument where I need some empathetic understanding of Prometheum in order to realise that he's talking out of his arse.

I was commenting on Prometheum's assumptions toward Trippy. In that case, we're not discussing subjective phenomena in the sense of beauty (or as you're trying to swing it, the case of Prometheus' personality). As for my personal opinions on how much of a loser Prometheum is... yes, subjective. Woohoo! This answer has been arrived at from my own 'viewpoint'. I'm not going to sit here and argue that opinion as objectuve truth.
Main point: Some of my comments highlight some wonderful objective truths. By the wonderfully accepted definition of 'prep', Trippy doesn't fucking qualify. Prometheum is wrong.

... well, the impression I'm getting is that they're both the same person, and Prometheum is an outlet for Prometheus to express his outrage and anger ; kinda like a violent, unstable and utterly miserable retarded sociopath who only expresses his murderous intentions through his sock puppy "Stabby".
|
First of all, I do appreciate that I see eye to eye with Prometheum on certain matters. We have disagreed on others though. I was, and still am, quite irritated that he picked a name so similar to mine. I knew it would only be a matter of time before someone confused one of his posts for mine, or accused us of being the same person.
If I were to create an alias for the purpose you state, would I really pick such a similar name? I know you have a pretty low opinion of me, but even you have to acknowledge that I'm smarter than that.
I do in fact have an alternative name, which I use specifically for things that I would rather not come back to me. Such as posts regarding people I know who visit the boards.
As for Prometheum and I being logged in at the same time, it's probably because I'm logged in practically all the time. I don't know how it works here, but if it's like myspace, where as long as you maintain at least one browser open continuously, you stay in, I probably have stayed on for over a week on occasion.

I think I've said my piece.. one last thing, Trippy. I've never spoken to you before in my life, I may have posted something towards you on an online forum but you would not like me getting vocal with you.
I'm done with this debate/argument/flame war/whatever you want to call it.
Anyway, I'm gonna go chill.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
None of my posts attack trippy, I'm using the plural you. If trippy is some wonderfully senstive person, than great for him, but from his posts, in my definitions he is a prep. The only person that I could be said to be directed at is Mr. Dave, who seems to think that the only way to have a fulfilling life is to wear abercrombie and not think. I wasn't judging trippy's friendships etc, and if he manages to think that way and still not have friends that backstab him at every opportunity then great. In the meantime, his voice is still that of the prep, and he's still trying to force prometheus's assimilation. Thats pretty damn prep. Hell, I never even reffered to trippy by name, YOU'RE the fuckwit for not reading my posts.
By the way, depending on the school of tae kwon do, the belt order top down is black red or black brown, in my school it was black red. If you knew more about Tae Kwon Do than watching Steven Segal movies, you'd know that. (But let me guess, you're actually a black belt and I'm just talking out of my ass).
Again, If you're using totse, you're obviously not popular. Don't u gusy no that totse wuz like 4 t3h nerds?! Get back to ur facebook! (except trippy. He's a wonderful, sensitive human being and is obviously the king of the world, as soon as his cock gets out of Durell's mouth, it'll be in mine instantly. <3 u trip.)

Some things to point out, now that I have stopped laughing uncontrollably:
You guys are going to be piiiiiised for not coming when you get a full con report. But here's a taste.
This is the problem with the entire thread. He thinks we are going to be super jealous of his adventures at "the con". If you just want to make your nerd report, that is fine, I am sure I would have had a great time, because in comparison to most people there, I am so good looking.
This however, does NOT look like something I would be jealous of:

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Prometheum... fuckwit...
... the post I commented on followed and seemingly cited Trippy calling you out for being Prometheus' puppet.
I am nobody's sock puppet, thank you very fucking much. The similarity between my name and Prometheus's is just coincidence...
Then you later criticise 'someone', for trying to state that Prometheus sadly accepted that he's a total loser (which is entirely justifiable). OH WAIT! That someone is Trippy on page 7.
I mean, we lay on the "You're a fucking loser" thing and Prometheus accepts it with good grace and more than a little hint of sad acceptance.
... and now you on page 9...
Now, fuckwit, considering how most of your comments occurred directly before AND after citing Trippy, I think it's pretty safe to say that you were directly referring to him as opposed to some arbitrary entity. Additionally, even using the term 'And what the fuck', followed by a quote from Trippy (the guy you were directly attacking, if you can't keep up), assumes some tie between your previous paragraph and the current one. Oh, I also love your rationale of:
Trippy is a prep in my definition.
Followed with: 'The only person I could be said to be directed at is Mr. Dave, who seems to think that the only way to have a fulfilling life is to wear abercrombie and not think (sic)'.
Followed with (about Trippy): 'In the meantime, his voice is still that of the prep, and he's still trying to force Prometheus' assimilation.'
None of my posts attack trippy, I'm using the plural you.
You're not convincing anyone, fuckface.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Prometheum, it's awesome how you think there's a fine line between being one of the biggest fucking losers on the face of the planet and bring a mindless facebook-loving "prep", and if you're not one, you must be the other. Oh, and that everyone's life can be judged by their equivalence to the characters in American suburban teen comedy movies. Hint ; I'm not even fucking American, I've never seen a "prep" outside of American movies, and even if I was a "prep" I'd be infinitely happier and more socially adjusted than you, you sad sack of shit.
I'd bust out the lolz on pretty much everything else you said, but I think Durell has covered it. Oh, except the part where you vaguely threaten me with physical violence over the internets. That bit was pretty fucking funny. Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?
Congrats. You found a boring picture. From last year. How about:
http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne...1924587&size=o
or
http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne...9413971&size=l
from this year.
The "boring pic from last year" looks like some type of generic event I might concievably find myself at, bored, getting drunk and making snide comments in the corner, before leaving with my arm around the least hideous girl there and making sure every sad sniffling mollusc saw me leave with her, then rejecting her for being too ugly once I got outside. It looks like some kind of church-hall dance or youth centre party I might crash out of sheer boredom. It indeed looks boring, generic, but probably not painfully awful.
The other two pics, on the other hand, look like the type of event which, if I somehow managed to stumble into, I would immediately burst into outraged laughter, scream "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?", and then slowly edge to the nearest exit, refusing to break eye contact with anyone lest the subhumans inside get emboldened enough to attack me on mass. And then when safely away from that place, I'd tell all my friends about the horrors I inadvertantly witnessed. I mean, Jesus, Superman with carpet swatches, pyjamas? What the fuck is wrong with you people? Fucking freaks.

Yeah, that's a fairly common reaction the first time someone walks into a room full of people doing the Time Warp. At least there was only the one guy wearing a leather thong and fishnets. We usually see more of those.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Is what Prom doing harmful to anyone?
I want to first make it perfectly clear that I'm not some keyboard tough guy, getting my kicks ragging on Prometheus. So for all you pseudo amateure armchair psychoanalysts thinking I'm dogging on him for his social ineptness, all because I have my own insecurities.....SPARE ME YOUR DRIVEL! I read/post on Totse for my own entertainment when work is slow and between hands of online poker. So if anyone wants to start flaming me for putting up my OPINION that is well thought out based on my life experience, go for it. But if anyone thinks my ego is getting a boost at pointing out Prometheus' profoundly backwards way at looking at relationships....you are dead wrong.
The poster above asked...."who is he hurting". Well right now, probably no one. But take a look around today's world and witness how people "living in their own little world" sometimes snap and then a whole host of people are hurting. My thoughts are that perhaps if Prometheus witnesses enough people saying to him how messed up his perceptions are, he may make some changes. Or even get professional help in the form of counseling to better further his social skills. This isn't about wanting anyone to "conform", .......fuck, I'm one of the biggest non-conformists there is even in my 30's.
My whole point is, people that are THIS socially inept do have a very strong potential to be misfits in society and god knows how this evolves or snowballs in the future. Maybe this is 3 years before the next Va Tech massacre? Maybe this guy could someday be a stalker to some innocent gal? Or a peeping Tom in your bedroom?
For those that say, "well none of that still affects me"....I say BULLSHIT! What if you are the guy munching on your Whopper in BK, if the day comes he decides to start popping caps for no reason at all.....just because some girl he had his eye on working cashier spurned his advances. And have none of you gotten involved with a chick after they have been with a different creep or psycho? I have, and I can vouch for the fact that after dealing with a stalker type it leaves lasting scars and makes it all that much harder for YOU to develop intimacy and trust with her. She may be this wonderful woman that is perfect for you, but her whole psyche is fucked up because she got involved (whether in a legitimate relationship or just crossed paths)with some fruitcake that is living in their own demented realm. Yes it COULD and does affect all of us.
I'm not saying that Prometheus WILL turn out to be a killer, rapist, stalker or similar type of weirdo. Chances are he'll still be in Mommy's basement till he is 40, going to cons for his yearly validation. Even better odds is he will probably find some chick online that has a similar mindset as him, just as much a social misfit, they'll breed more nerds and live happily ever after. But there is STILL the possibility he could become even more twisted and do whatever heinous act. And the statistics and profilers show that most of these people are APART from society long before they start their nonsense......ya get it yet? This isn't about looks, clothes, getting laid, or labels of social groups. We are talking about someone SO backwards and not realizing why/how what they do is not a normal or even acceptable way at going about things. FUCK CONFORMITY! I just don't want to say 5 years from now....."hey that dude on CNN, yeah I remember him trying to pick up chicks and failing so bad....guess he never got the help he needed".

It's funny, you two were both sort of looking at Prom/ with some disdain. Now the unintelligent critic is mocking the other one. Gold n Green, your name makes me think of the Irish flag and you just sound like a dick, so do me a favor and stop making me associate that flag with you being a cock.
DaGuru, I can see where you're coming from but I don't think people like Prom are that much of a danger.
The guy who was involved in VA tech and those involved in Columbine etc. were pretty much complete loners. They had no friends at all.
Looking back on things, you find that people that are in groups/look at relationships the perceived "normal" way can be just as dangerous, if not more so. Think of racists that grow up in community towns, because it is institutionalized. Think of gang culture, etc.
Apparently surgeons even have to deal with far more shootings that are about spouses having arguments/affairs than anything else as well. You're far more likely to have to deal with someone who fit into society or who operates in a gang than some madman like in VA tech.
Having been like Prom and knowing people like Prom, I'd far rather we left them to it. Posters in BI worry me far more than Prom and the ilk.
Much appreciated for the much fairer and justified reply.

Again, you are NOT LISTENING! I didn't say that you are NOW a killer/rapist/stalker....but have the POTENTIAL to be one on the future. Especially if you continue your current course and keep setting yourself up for failure after failure. Instead of taking some of these posts for the constructive criticism for what it is, you are just further entrenching yourself and defending your mistakes. Now its a game to you....."fuck Totse, I'll show them I can pick up women MY way".
Go ahead Prometheus, continue to work your "magic". Somewhere along the line you undid a corset....WOOHOO, party time. Last year you were making time with a chick that you thought was only 15 and she ended up being 11. This year you were some MILF's donkey doing all the hard labor setting up her booth, and the only cost to her was 10 minutes of tonsil hockey with you. I'm sure we are all waiting with baited breath about next year's "conquests". Go ahead bub, keep on keepin on. We'll see, won't we??????

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
I probably should rebuke Durell again for misinterpreting me, but fuck it, trippy is the penultimate prep.
OMG PROMETHEUS IS DIFFERNET HELL KILL US ALL LETS MAKE A TEH FACEBOOK GROUP ABOUT IT!
(For me at least, being prep isn't a dress code. Don't think me that shallow. Trippy has now exhibited the classical prep thoughtline and is thus in my mind classified as such. Durell, you can just keep sucking his cock, I don't think I want a turn.)
This is so fucking typical. You don't understand him, and apparently he's worse with girls than you are, so therefore, OMGCOLUMBINE. This is really interesting on a personal level; the preps that could never physically touch me just constantly told the school principal and his cronies that I was planning bomb threats to teh next columbine. So if you want to call me vindictive, do it here.
What gives you the right to say that because HE DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME SOCIAL INSTINCTS AND BEHAVIORS AS YOU (read: he's different) he's going to be or is more likely to be the next jack the fucking ripper? I mean really. He didn't get enough action (in your opinion; he's obviously pleased with what he did and you guys keep ragging him about it, nice doublethink you praetorians) so he's going to kill us all.
The thing ignored about the columbine kids is that they weren't loners by choice; they were loners because they were outcast by the society of preps that dominated their life. Then, when they met another person like them, they were enabled to fuel off each other enough to do what they did, and I have to say, I think thats fucking great. Hell, if the other preps in this thread grew up around me and acted the same way they are towards Prometheus towards me, and I had guns and a partner, I'd probably do what they did. Thats a lot of steps out of reality though. Does that make me a menace to society? Do I now need to burn my closet and go out to the nearest mall to get some labels? Should I start drinking and "seducing" braindead whores that could probably be bought by whatever clothing is in fashion that week? There used to be a thing called "innocent until proven guilty", but in this era of "preventative" law enforcement (aka prep rule) any who are different or any potential threat are to be exterminated. Which many preps DID after columbine. Hell, maybe the fact that you hate prometheus enough to think him dangerous to you make you dangerous to him.
In conclusion, all of you shold gtfo of totse, because if we ever had a convention, it'd look exactly like that. Praetorians.

QFMFT!
PrometheuM, why do you keep promoting this fallacy that Totse is mostly for computer nerds???? That is profoundly silly. Newsflash for ya, computers and surfing the internet is MAINSTREAM. Is that why you are so angry? Because for 20+ years the nerd herd had their own little arena and dominance BEFORE the internet? And now as long as someone can spell a word and navigate a mouse, ANYONE can log on!The way you prattle on about "Totse is for geeks", one would think this is your own private secret society. Have you never visited BI? BLTC? PD?

Thirded. Far from it, instead of being dirty, awkard, fat, ugly outcasts, the totse members I've met or seen, or just i general talked to, were cool, not ultra-nerdy types who think they own the internet of that 'the geeks shall inherit the earth'. Come on man, you're looking in the completely wrong place if you want super-nerdy, non-social geeks.

Prometheus you're alright in my books. You went somewhere you wanted to be with a tight sort of 'group of people' at the lack of a better way of putting it, that you get along with. So long as you had a blast screw what anyone else thinks.
I gotta ask though, did you at least check out the tech? I hope you didn't just scope womenz the whole time

and I have to say, I think thats fucking great.
And I have to say, I think you're fucked up. Maybe Guru's right. Killing people isn't something to admire unless the people killed were doing something worse than murder, and being a "prep" is certainly not worse than murder. You maybe forgot to mention that the Columbine kids killed other losers like themselves and mostly left the popular kids alone. Funny, that.

Think whatever you want, I still say that once a collective body of people unleashes that much hate on such a concentrated target, they're pretty much bringing on themselves whatever happens. I would think at that point, you'd kill whatever came into your gunsights.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
I have no idea what "BBS" means. :)
I've never read a textfile on totse, other than a charming little poem about rape by sift; I believe it's titled "I raped you last night, weren't you aware?".
I couldn't tell you how my computer works, unless you want a story about midget wizards.
This is where technology, its use and its reach is today, folks. It's 2007, nearly everyone uses a computer, the age where only geeks and nerds were on forums, or just totse is long, long dead. Don't bitch because the world isn't how it used to be or how you think it is. Accept it, and roll with it, i say the more the merrier here, there's no minimum nerdyness requirements for anything on the internet, especially not totse, I'd personally hate it if it was just nerds here, variety and a superbly wide membership is what makes totse what it is, sorry it's not what you like, but that's the way the world goes, deal with it or leave it.

Cool or sociable is about you as a person, if you're friendly, not an ass, fun to be around, not cynical, and maybe a sense of humour, and some confidence, friends find you, but you're pretty much the polar opposite here, sorry. Quit blaming he rest of the world and people for your downfalls and reasons for failure, you're probably one of the most pathetic examples of the 'victim' mindset I've ever seen.

This guy is an absolute wank, stop giving him the attention he is craving. He is obviously a dumbass "ohhhh I'm just like the columbine guys!" fuck off you are. However anyone looks at it, a tragedy, a stand to not take shit...whatever. They are down in the history books for doing it. What are you going to be remembered for? Nothing, you're a bad music listening faggot that puts themself in the same category as Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.
You haven't got anything. You just cop shit all the time and come online saying how you'd like to do something about it but never will because you have no backbone. School shooters are the pansies that take shit, and take it and take it until they snap instead of defending themselves in the first place.
I'd push you in the mud if I saw you man and laugh my ass off like everyone else does.
Yeah I'll see you on the news for shooting up a school and having 'death metal' be the blame

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
lol, I'm a prep!
I think the main problem here is that the internet used to be a great big nerd support group, where people could gather to talk about linux and buffy the vampire slayer or whatever, and try and convince each other that their lives don't suck so badly. Now that anybody can (and does) use the internet, people who are social outcasts in real life are becoming social outcasts on the internet too.
Prometheum, you are one saaaad motherfucker, you realise that? You say I'm a prep because I think fucked-up social misfits like you are potentially dangerous. You say I'm stupid and wrong because I think fucked-up social misfits like you are potentially dangerous. And then you start raving about how righteous you think the Columbine kids are and how you wish you were like them.
Lemme tell you something, boy, Eric and Dylan had the trenchcoat mafia. There was like... TWELVE of those motherfuckers. That's twelve more friends than you've ever had, or ever will have. Face it, you're such a fucking loser you're beyond even their level of bitter psychopathic rage and percieved victimhood. All you can do is brag about your blackbelt and threaten to beat me up online.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Trip, funny that you would mention Buffy. There was an hour long panel about what went wrong in seasons 6 and 7. I passed it over in favor of something interesting. You'd rather not know about the live reenactment of the musical episode.
I gotta ask though, did you at least check out the tech? I hope you didn't just scope womenz the whole time
If I were just there for the women, I wouldn't have passed up the belly dancing lesson in favor of a nanotechnology panel. And I've ranted about the RepRap extensively in DIY. Talked with some authors, and got writing tips. Etc...
Dawn, the aforementioned MILF, has been very eager for me to come out to Grand Rapids (about 130 miles from here) and stay with her a few days. I can't wait, but I've got a gig watching someone's animals for the next week, so I can't greyhound it out there until that's over.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Lol at everyone who has switched entirely from defending their positions to flaming me as a person.
I'm actually quite nice when I'm not pissed off at some preps who are yelling at someone who's doing something I respect to go conform to their ridiculous ideal of what the human mind should be like. And trousersnake, ... How about instead of dissecting your post, I dissect my own?
The sentance everyone is quotewhoring:
, I think thats fucking great
The context for that sentance:
Then, when they met another person like them, they were enabled to fuel off each other enough to do what they did, and I have to say, I think thats fucking great. Hell, if the other preps in this thread grew up around me and acted the same way they are towards Prometheus towards me, and I had guns and a partner, I'd probably do what they did.
The point of this (and I don't often elaborate the way I should, because I make these posts while pretty pissed off) is that ANYONE can do this. ANYONE can get to this state; because it isn't some set biological switch that defines social popularity. If I was in the same situation as the columbine kids, would I have done what they did? Undoubtedly, I was in their position. If any of you were in their place, you'd undoubtedly do the same. If all of trippys friends (and they wouldn't do this, because all of trippys friends are loyal to him and only him, UNTIL DEATH because he is such an awesome person) were to suddenly turn on him, his life turned to shit and he found another person like him and more importantly had easy access to weaponry, he'd definitely do it. Why? because any suicidal kid with a gun who's also a pissed off kid with a gun will do the most logical thing for both issues: Shoot others and shoot himself. You don't need to be a nerd, you just need to be desperate.
And on that note, if anyone gets subjected to that shit, IMO, the people who are knowingly hitting someone who's already mentally on the ground are deserving of the second wave thats coming.
And here we go with trippy again! See, the thing is, our lives are better than yours, because we can THINK whereas you can just go off in your overpopulated desolate corner and brag about getting drunk and laid. The fact that we're different doesn't make us losers, but the fact that you think anything different is "loser" makes you a prep, regardless of where you do your shopping.
And to TS, Burzum is black metal, not death metal. Anyone with any sense of good music would know what that means. You're obviously a music prep for thinking that anything that isn't yours is shit, and not even knowing it before judging it. And wtf, you even say you'd back that with your own pathetic force instead of with thought? Guess what that makes you? A PRAETORIAN!

blah blah blah...'prep'...blah...PRAETORIAN
Sorry did you say something? You didn't waste time typing up something I was never soing to read did you?
And 'Praetorian' got me curious...
Praetorian may mean:
* Praetorian Guard, a special force of skilled and celebrated warriors used by Roman Emperors.
* Praetorian (software), an intelligent surveillance software suite.
* Praetorian (metal band), a melodic metal Band from Melbourne Australia
So everyone you say that to is either a 'skilled and celebrated warrior', an intelligent piece of software, or a metal band (RAWWWWRWWWR)
I guess the most insultive thing coming from it would be being the band and having dickhead followers like you.

Jesus, stop saying 'prep' so fucking much and calling everyone who isn't you a prep. Prep is a choice of style, same as your trenchcoats and black crap, and you're as bad or worse than the people you blame for making you an outcast, because 'they' stuck you in a situation, and you choose to rebel against them in the dumbest way anyone can think of.
No, you need to be a moron, socially retarded and in general a special kind of fucked up asshole. No normal, sane, non-victimizing and remotely decent human being's mind wanders to the option of killing as many people as they can if they happen to be pissed that one of their fake black nails broke.
Normal people don't blame everyone else for their own lives, they own up and see what they've done. I've seen many cool goths/metal/punk kids, because they don't act like assholes with everyone, don't blame everyone, aren't conceded or cowardly and are pleasant to be around. If people don't like you, it's not because how you dress, it's that you fail as a person.

Naturally, I'll be back to point out why your lives are so much more pathetic than mine next time I get linked to something that really deserves it.
On that note, I'll leave you with some literature very near and dear to my heart, "The sick ramblings of a psychotic loser" (abridged version)

Oh my fucking god, you utter praetorian! prep asshole. I DO NOT HATE MY LIFE. I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE. I DO NOT WANT YOUR "COOL FRIENDS" OR YOUR "LADIES" THAT ARE BRAINDEAD WHORES. I DO NOT WANT A "NORMAL" GIRL. abercrombie whore. I hope that one day, while I'm firebombing an abercrombie, that you are in it. Praetorian.
I am nobody's sock puppet. FUCKING PRAETORIANS. The preps were afraid of me because I wore black and leather and listened to bands whose lyrics they couldn't understand. I played burzum in class once. red belt in tae kwon do. One time actually, I shouted the first line of the ring-rhyme in orcish, and this one dude ran away screaming. Stupid preps. fucking praetorian. I get high and get laid as frequently as I want. I only wish you were nearer to me in person so I could bring your abercrombie-crafted LAX body to a whimpering hulk. Your life is an american pie movie. Get off of totse, its too nerdy for you, you praetorian!

I think thats fucking great. preps. I'd probably do what they did. "preventative" law enforcement (aka prep rule) preps. columbine. Praetorians.
columbine.
I'm actually quite nice when I'm not pissed off at some preps. columbine kids. ee, the thing is, our lives are better than yours, because we can THINK whereas you can just go off in your overpopulated desolate corner and brag about getting drunk and laid. Prep. Burzum. music prep. PRAETORIAN!

that was amazing, please make a techno for it. I'll even record that. I lul'd so hard.
So everyone you say that to is either a 'skilled and celebrated warrior', an intelligent piece of software, or a metal band (RAWWWWRWWWR)
The praetorian guard were the Roman Emperor's private lackeys. They'd march before him in parades and do whatever else he wanted them to. When I use it, I'm referring to someone who utilizes force as a means of arguing over actually being intelligent. Basically, any strong-arm fascist. Saying something like "Lol u r t3h losr ima push u in t3h mud" would be a very praetorian thing to say, for instance.
Sorry that jumped out at me, sooooo which industry do you keep in business? Trenchcoat manufacturers or 'black' coloured clothes?
Well, thats a very good question, durell. But before I answer, let me respond to Orange_Crusader, who also had some thoughts on that topic.
Crusader: I don't wear trenchcoats, and "prep" is NOT a fashion choice, is a way of thinking. I do NOT care if trippy or that guy who said that Prometheus needed to wear abercrombie actually do wear abercrombie or polos or whatever the fuck else the preps wear. I care if they start saying "omg dress X or u will just be a losr". If anyone else says how "omg prep is just a fashion choice" I'm just going to refer you to that statement. And christ, read my posts, what you quoted wasn't even MY statement of MY life, its a hypothetical about how if you're in X situation than you'll probably resort to Y. Read my posts before dissecting them. Also, who's owning up? And really, who even did anything? My point was that the columbine kids were arbitrarily chosen, they didn't tell everyone to fuck off or blow something up to get themselves excluded, they were excluded because they were different. And how does that pertain to this thread? I haven't done anything, and I don't blame anyone for my life, especially preps. That'd be giving them way too much credit. I like where I am and whats going on, and that's ALL me. I'm fairly sure Prometheus would say the same, though I can't speak for him. He hasn't seemed to "blame" anyone, and he ALSO seemed happy with his life.
But anyways, I digress. So, what is it I wear? At the moment, I'm wearing black jeans I got at a thrift shop, and an Iron Maiden shirt I got on the internet. In my closet are t-shirts from some assorted power metal and black metal bands, and I have about three other pairs of jeans from the same thrift shop. I normally wear a black leather jacket that I got from the same thrift shop, and boots that I got on the internet. I don't wear jewelry, where the fuck did you get that? Hell, not all of the shirts are even black. Who's being prejudgmental now?
Well Prometheum does sound a bit worrying, he does sound like a more than angsty kid, I can agree with you there trip.
I don't normally have this much angst/anger, preps and praetorians just piss me off.
To close:Naturally, I'll be back to point out why your lives are so much more pathetic than mine next time I get linked to something that really deserves it.
Alright, now, all you know about anyone here are what we've said, in one thread, on one forum. How the hell can you know any extent of our lives? And also, this is all just your personal fucking choice/taste/whatever. I happen to like my life. Prometheus seems to like his. You seem to think we're both pathetic. I could think that your life is pathetic. Are either of us right? Not really, because thats all totally subjective. What's pathetic is the fact that you refuse to look past "I was at a linux convention....I didn't get laid". Hell, you might have even stopped at linux. Thats just pathetic.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
No more 'pathetic' than using a computer at all was just a few years ago. Totally unjustified stigma attached to a lot of geek type activities.
The more I think it over, the more convinced I am that those of us who are openly geeks, have to be more confident in ourselves in general. If we were all so worried about what everyone thought about us, we'd do everything we could to blend in with those of non-geek inclination. Instead, we make no secret of our assorted interests in computers, collectible card games, science fiction, science fact, etc...
True, other social sects will more or less broadcast what makes them different. Goths have their makeup and black wardrobe for example. Geeks don't broadcast it so much. We just are, and it comes out now and then.
So who has the short end of the stick here? The supposed social outcasts who are comfortable with who they are, or the popular (i.e. socially acceptable) people who go along with what society expects of them?

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
Prometheus' problem is that he has zero initiative, absolutely no desire for self-improvement. I recall several conversations we have had in #totse and much time wasted on my part. Not once have I seen him admit fault, there is always someone else to blame and he's always a victim of circumstance. That's what's most pathetic.
As far as I can tell there's absolutely nothing you can say or do to make him see reason, although Trippy has that way with words.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
The first page of this thread had me chuckling, but by the 3rd I was cowed in horror, dismayed and disturbed by the sheer patheticness of Prometheus/Promethium.
In the vain hope that my words may stand a chance of breaking you out of your hopelessly entrenched, distorted view of the world, let me say that at high school most people would describe me as one of the nerdy, weird kids.
But guess what? I have friends from the nerds, the preps, the stoners, the niggers, just about all social groups. On some days when I want to be raucously entertained I eat lunch with the preps, the 'cool' kids, on days when I want a quieter, low-key atmosphere I sit with the nerds. I'm accepted at both tables.
And in my personal experience, neither the nerdy nor the cool kids are any more intelligent, interesting or 'human' than the other. The nerds tend to be a little more awkward at talking, a bit more bumbling, their jokes are less on, while the preps often seem shallow (but repeatedly reveal themselves to be just as intelligent and individual as the nerds), and absorbed with boozing, but every single member of both groups are fundamentally unique people.
You seem to retreat from this basic fact. The fact that labels such as 'prep' and 'nerd' are just as arbitrary and meaningless as every other label humans have devised to de-humanize their fellow men.
After reading this thread, and taking a few tortuous steps into your diseased mind, I thank a God I don't really believe exists that I didn't turn out like you and fall into your pit.

Re: Wish Me Well Upon My Quest
So, basically....you sold your soul to the devil.

This is not my forum. I haven't posted here because I think this forum is full of inexperienced blowhards that are not receptive to mature, logical people and their advice. As such, I did not knowingly resurrect anything.
That aside, I was shown this thread today by someone involved. I can't control that he chose THIS day to show it to me. How long ago the thread last had a pulse is of no consequence to me.
After this, I will never think of you again. You have illustrated, however, that you have dedicated far too much of your time thinking about me. Get a life.

God damn, this is from like a year ago. I know, because next con is only in 2 weeks. Not even going to bitch about it this time. Not until it's over and I've faced much rejection anyway.

I am glad you made this post and I am just now seeing it, since I have been thinking about going to an Anime convention for a long time now. Hmmm, and I always knew there were nerdy girls, which mind you to me are the best, but that is besides the point. Anyways, I'll have to post in here after I hit up a convention to see how "open" it actually is...
