That was my first thought too.

And then I read the articles about the damned square and rectangle.

Ok, if we saw one square, it could be shrugged off (not easily) as a statistical abnormality. Somewhere out there, there has to be all manner of geometries in nebulae. Not only from their 3D shape, but all the perspectives from all the angles. So spotting one was inevitable. Just statistically, it happened sooner than we would expect.

Then there's the second one. If the first had mind boggling odds, the odds of spotting a second one must defy comprehension. There must be things we don't know about at work. Things we didn't even suspect that we didn't know.

I know someone's going to say "Aliens!" about this.

I just know I'd hate to come across a civilization capable of rearranging a whole damned nebulae.

Didn't think of that.

But what if it was the nebula rearranging itself?

Too far out?

I'd assume that the likelyhood that any one race of aliens that took the time to rearrange nebulaes would be far beyond being dangerous. If they wanted to remove us, they could and would. But though, why would they have TWO that are perfect squares from our eyeline?

Perhaps not all that in unknown is evil after all.

With that much mass swirling around, under the forces of who knows how much energy from gravity and random radiation it wouldn't be out of the question for intelligence to evolve. In fact, it's likely I'd think.

You know, I might give that water spinning thing a shot myself. I could toy with the shape of the container and the material that the spinning surface is made of.

I'll need to figure out a way to hermetically seal a rotating shaft, though.
