Technophiliacs & Technophiles The Technophiliacs forum is for discussing any and all forms of tech and other types of social backwardness. Including discussions of strange home-brewed hardware technology. Where to get good tools. How to make fiberglass molds. Computer hardware and software technolgy, including operating systems, applications, networking, hardware, CPU's, disk drives, and other geeky things. Viruses and Artificial Life discussions. How to write HTML. End user tools discussions and support issues. Gating the Internet with other nets. If your computer is better than anyone else's computer, you are required to post a message explaining why. You'll probably be wrong, especially if you're a Mac or BeOS user, but post anyway.

Default I have a 40 gig external usb hard drive.

n00b question warning:
I've been installing a bunch of freeware games on there, and in the folders, all of the data file s are there as well, the .exe is there, I will be able to just plug it into any other computer and execute them, right? as long as the files are there?

As long as they don't put a bunch of shit in the system files or in the registry is should be fine.

Try it. That's ALWAYS the best way to find these "n00b questions" out. Try it.

Actually, it works rather well when you aren't trying to move programs around all silly-nilly like. Which isn't what it was designed to do.

And you can always just rip a copy of the registry files for the program and include them when using it. It's not really even that hard!

But though, the flaw comes from human irrationality. Not from the computer.

I'd like to see you quantify this. I feel that at the end of the rainbow is a better option than the registry...

Rather simply: The powers that be control what you can and can't do as long as you want to use their operating system. That Penguin Rainbow is all yours, but though you'll end up with your own set of problems.

Enjoy!

to Rem: it cost $104 USD.

as far as the games go: All they are is a bunch of freeware games, basically, ones you'll find on abandonia and freeware/abandonware sites.
