is my thermometer possessed, or what?
Yes, I am serious, and no, this does not belong in PD--it is actuaully a techie thing. Here's the deal.
I have this Skyscan clock , gets the time signal from Fort Collins and resets itslef to the exact time. The unit also tells the day, date and phase of the moon. So far, so good. It also has an indoor and outdoor thermometer, and here is where it gets weird.
When I got up this morning, the indoor thermometer was counting off seconds. It cycled from one to 60, then the minute on the clock would change and the thermometer would go back to 1.
I have no idea why this is happening, or what to do about it. There is a reset button for the time, but not the thermometers.
Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

Re: is my thermometer possessed, or what?
Nope--when the battery is bad, the whole display just goes black. Everything else--even the outdoor thermometer, which gets a radio signal from an outdoor sensor--works fine.
It is just that my indoor thermometer all of sudden thinks it is a second counter.

Re: is my thermometer possessed, or what?
It could be a mode on the clock.

Re: is my thermometer possessed, or what?
Yeah, I'd think that it was a mode on the device to allow you to see the seconds...

Re: is my thermometer possessed, or what?
Most likely a mode, but it could be the microprocessor mixing data.

I'd doubt that.... COULD be it, but VERY VERY unlikely. It'd be more likely that it was miswired and slipped, wires crossed, etc...
Most likely though, one of his sons just set it like that to fuck with him.

Re: is my thermometer possessed, or what?
Definitely sounds like a second mode. Try combinations of buttons and holding them down and shit like that.

It's absurdly unlikely. A very distant second place. But can anyone think of a better explanation besides modes?

Can't think of anything I'd check aside from my owner's manual, which is why they have those.
