Personally I think were going to be in Iraq quite a long time so do u think with the time Bush has left in office he'll issue a draft. It probally depends on what happens.

Even if he did i think 1 out of 5 men and women eligable for the draft would rather go to prison anyway. And i think thats conservative.

I highly doubt there'll be a draft, anytime in the near future. First off, the military does not want a draft, nor does the American people, nor do any of our elected officials. The reason why the military does not want a draft, is that it will force us to lower our standards even more. Unless the shit Really hits the fan, don't expect to see a draft. If there ever is a draft, I doubt it will be when Bush is president, or even the guy after him.

The only reason ever for a draft is if we had to fight a major war, such as World War 2. I think everyone agrees that after Vietnam, the draft shouldn't be used unless we absolutely need to. Speaking of the draft, I need to turn in my selective service card..haha.

I'm not worried. I've talked about it with some friends and some of my other peers, most of them would try to skip out. I wouldn't, I think a major part of being American is defending/fighting for your country when they call it upon you. I wouldn't volunteer for some premptive strike on some country, but if the country truely need help during some major war.

Chances of a draft in the near future (5 to 10 years) slim to none. No major powers want to truely butt heads with another. Even countries like Iran and North Korea don't want to stir up a war with the West at this point. North Korea won't pull anything because they can't even feed themselves, let alone fight a war with the West, South Korea, Japan, or China. Iran is the most dangerous threat in my mind, but I don't think the moderates will allow a war with the West. Iran wants to prosper and a war with the west would send that country back 50 years.
