Question problem with religeon...

now i would like to start out that i am a Christian, and no one can convince me that that is the wrong religeon, and i believe that it is true, but there is one thing i find troubling with Christianity...

we tell all of the other religions to not be judgmental or whatever, and not tell everyone else that they are wrong, cuz tehy ahve the freedom to worship, yet we tell every other religeon that they are wrong and they will burn eternaly in hell, and we are right, and will bask in the glory of God... thats a little extreme... we dont practice what we preach!!!! if we said "dont force others to believe a religeon", then we shouldnt tell others that they will burn in hell if they are not Christians, and we shouldnt send preachers to go out and make others believe what we want them to believe... you dotn see a budist going out and tellign us we will revive as a worm, and they dotn try to convert us to budists!!!!!!!

i just found this disturbing... thoughts on this???

Umm we dont tell other people to not try and spread thier religion you fucktard!!! Everyone has missonaries! Its not wrong to tell someone they will go to hell if they dont follow Jesus, what do you want us to say? "You'll go to heaven to so it doesnt matter"? NO, its called a warning not a threat we are trying to save people not harm them!

I dont care if your a Chrisitian your either a fucking idiot or just plain ignorant!!! Do you want us to start preaching from the koran??? Of course we want people to belive what we believe thats the point dumbass!

It would be a very bad thing on our part to not try to spread our religion, heres an example of why!

Lets say a person with a bomb strapped to his chest walked into a restuarant,. He tells you he has a bomb strapped to his chest and to leave. He also says you can save as many people as you want. Would you tell them or just leave them to die?

Same as: We know the way to heaven and every other way leads to hell, should we shut up and let everyone else burn in hell? Or should we try to save as many as we can?

Of course the liberal athiest scum on here will say "you dont have a right" , "Christians should be silenced", or some headfucked shit like that! But try not to listen to those idiots!

and i agree, but what im saying is some christians say "dont try to spread your religeon, we have freedom to worship what we want", and we go preach. all im saying is that we should not tell others to not preach their religeon, or try to contradict their religeon. religeon is a matter of oppinion, and in my oppinion, we should try to save others, but dont force it or tell others not to preach. thats all im saying. religeon is a war that will rage on untill the end of life.

i appreceiate your thoughts on this

ok i see what your saying, but idk i might be wrong but arnt we saying that to athiests? which technically dont need to be spreading it because it doesnt matter, why take people away from what they beleive in so strongly, i mean religion is the most powerfull thing on Earth, athiesm strips the morals that holds our societies together! plus all they do is make fun of religion and moch us calling us "ignorant" or "unable to have the intelligence they have, which in real life they work at McDonalds! lol

"Masta, you're being ignorant."

Might as well cut and paste that phrase to your clipboard, baliente.

You'll eventually grow tired of having to type it over and over again, as the situation usually warrants it where MT is concerned.

im apistolic (meaning i try to follow the docterine jesus gave the apostisles) and what ive seen that turns people away from God ranges.

The 2 major prolems with religion is

1. this is what we belive, you belive it, and if you dont we will repetativily try to force it on you.

2. Dont drink booze, hey wanna go to the club later?

so, people that force religion and people that are hyprocrits of religion are whats wrong with religion in general.

TRUE, but...

lets say your walking down teh street, and this random guy comes up to you and gives you 1000 dollars in spanish money. its a good gift, but you cant use it cuz youll never be in spain.

same thing here, you convert them, but you truly have to BELIEVE in christ, and only him, to get into hevan. and besides, if he doesnt want it, then why give it to him? if he doesnt believe it, dont give it to him, cuz he has no use for that information

Masta,

Have you ever considered the fact that the bible might just be a great big book, and nothing else? That it was written to justify christianity, not the other way round?

Thats the problem with all your arguments - they all come from one source. The church. The institution that needs as many people in it as possible to gain more money and power. They need weak-minded individuals that are happy to believe what ever they are told to keep giving them money, and sign up more followers.

Mabey you are all being taken for a ride.

Have you ever considered it? I know a lot of people have considered that, and every time a priest gets charged with child molestation, or every time Benny Hinn goes on one of his tax-dodging crusade concerts, another few people decide it is better to think for themselves rather than listen to these slick salespeople.

And I still don't know where you get your 2.6% believe evolution crap from. From what I can see, christianity accounts for 33% of the worlds population. That means at least 67% of the world are going straight to hell - right?

Your figures have nothing to do with evolution.

Masta

You are making several assumptions that by themselves are questionable, but in combination they turn the Occam's razer into the butcher's blade.

You say that god exist. You say that the bible is factually correct. You say that souls exist. You claim to know the exact thought process of god. Each of these claims are dubious at best and are built on each other.

Not to mention popular consensus doesn't imply truth. Do yourself a favor and walk around and ask people how a particle accelerator works. I don't believe you'll get an overwhelming response to that, that doesn't mean that particle accelerators don't exist. Same with evolution, people who reject it most likely don't understand it and they believe that "if we came from monkeys why are there still monkeys around" refutes evolution.

Similarely you can walk around and ask if eating too much sugar would trigger diabetes. You'll get a majority consensus of "yes", but in reality sugar has nothing to do with diabetes, excess fat does. Yes you could argue sugar causes fat but you're would be missing the point. Most people believe that sugar directly triggers diabetes which is simply not true.

the problem is that many people need confirmation in their lives that there is a better place after death
and to get that confirmation, they beleive a 2000 year old game of chinese whispers.
and to the OP, that is because christianity wants to come off as nice and forgiving by sayinf that you shouldnt judge blah blah
but they also want to boost their numbers, and to do this they scare people into beleiving

i have a question, how many people actually reach maturity where they have a say in their life and then choose religion
and how many people are born into their parents religeon and have it fed to them.

thaaaaats right!

Children often reject those things their parents try to instill in them in order to become separate from them. It's part of growing into an adult. Quite a few return to their parents religion after they experience more of life and have something to reflect back to in order to have a deeper understanding of those things that were taught to them in their early years.

Some people are not raised with any religious background, yet they might later find something within a religious practice that helps them find a deeper meaning to their lives and greater fulfillment.

You could probably find a study that covers this sort of thing if you're interested enough in finding out about it.

masta, your not wrong in your opinion, however the reason you got ragged on more than i did was the way you conducted your opinion, you cant come in here and spew off some crap, and form it in a rather attacking way, and expect any progress or anyone to listen to you, heck i dont even want to listen to you. untill you can figure out how to conduct your self better, i suggest you relax a bit and not post.

Children don't necessarely leave their parent's religion to rebel. We are talking about the belief in the origins and the metaphysical description of all that exists, not a tattoo. A person would not change what they believe in just to go against their parents. Only superficial changes happen to do so. Not to mention every difference between parent and child seems to be misinterpreted as the attempt to rebel. If a child listens to heavy metal as opposed to the parent's country could it be because they like heavy metal? Could a child smoke marijuana because he wants to rather than because his parents don't want to? Could a child paint his hair because he thinks that way he'll get more chicks rather than to piss off his parents? Could a child change a religion because he believes that it is contradictory and not supported by evidence rather than to piss off his parents?

People returning to their parent's religion is not a good argument either. The child's fundamental beliefs are already in place and even though they might start to question or divert from a religion, a complete paradigm shift never occurs. Just like a heroin addict is more likely to get back on the needle rather than a clean person.

People not raised with a religious background also proves nothing. It only proves that they are religious because of their own choice rather than their parent's choice, however such numbers murk in comparison with the indoctrinated hordes.

I saw a study somewhere where ppl in Britain were tested to see what their religions were and compared it to their parents'... turns out, only 1 in 8 deviate from the original, my personal hypothesis is that it is because most ppl are too worried about social/monetary/virtually pointless things to really care about religion... although part of it is certainly the indoctrination and the brilliant marketing techniques employed by zealous Christians... had I the same techniques in the Bronze age, nshaninism could very well be the Christianity of today, hats off to you on that one.

hhmm, and your not [ignorant]? You completely throw the idea of religion out the window, i listen to the other side and think about it ALOT!!! Now let me think here, whos ignorant?
Dear Mastathief, I have too listened to the Christian viewpoint, hell I was brought up with it, and still contemplate many other religions (including my former) to this day, I visit Buddhist and Taoist websites, I once ordered a Quran through the mail, I listen to hate mail from deluded Christians here, etc... I probably think about religion more than you, let alone the average person, so do go out and search for some truth yourself... Believing in religion in the 21st century is like believing in geocentricity... wait... doesn't the bible say something about that? :D

precisely what i believe... i was brought brought into an atheist family and i have no doubt that that is why i am atheist/buddhist now.

Most people who stray from their original religion dont turn atheist, possibly agnostic but even that is unlikely... they may just turn to a different sect in the religion or just not have such strong beliefs. A catholic person may not go to church every sunday for example.

Sorry if that didnt make all that much sense, but i am so incredibly tired right now that i just dont make sense at all
