I'm starting to like the aspect of live-action movies from anime. I don't know of many that have movie counter-parts though.

Theres quite a few anime-live action shows/movies out there and soon to be out there:


- City Hunter
With Jackie Chan as Ryo Saiba! It's pretty goofy, but you get to see Jackie Chan get electrocuted by a Street Fighter 2 arcade machine and turn into Chung-li. Yyyyeahh....

-Sailor Moon
Theres a few live action Sailor shows in Japan.


- Great Teacher Onizuka
Theres a live action tv series counterpart.

Has a couple live action shows I belive.

-Speed Racer
The guys who did the Matrix will be doing this, I think there was a thread recently about it.


- Dragon Ball Z
Yeah there actually trying to make one, and have been trying for some time. I have no idea how the heck it'll turn out.

- Transformers
I guess you could consider this a live action anime.

- Akira
Again, in the works but would fucking rule.

- Neon Genesis
Peter Jackson (!) has been aparently doing work with Weta for this.

- Cowboy Bebop
Another one in the works, if it does get made I could die happy.

I'm sure I'm missing a ton.

Saikano has one but I didn't think it was very good.

Don't forget Death Note and Cromartie High. They both kinda sucked though.

Cutie Honey (i didnt see the anime, but the live action is probably the worst i've ever seen, chick was hot though.. movie acting was similar to the immense crappyness of power rangers)

I liked the 2 Death Note movies...

Initial D movie was okay but the storyline was butchered compared to the anime

Great Teacher Onizuka Live action tv series was great, i've watched a handful of japanese dramas and that series remains my favorite

I've seen some other stuff but i cant think of the names off hand, too busy watching forza on speedvis

I meant that it was ANOTHER anime series being made into a movie.

No idea, its only in the works but I doubt it would be Japanese. Thats ok IMO, COwboy Bebop was one of the few series I liked dubbed.


They'd still have to keep the music.

I believe Fist of the North Star has an anime movie, an anime series, and a live action movie. I saw the anime movie and I thought it was the most repetitious garbage I've ever seen in my entire life, but a lot of people like it. Maybe the anime is better.

I can sum up the violence like this: Hero punches enemy, their head explodes
OR
Hero punches enemy and they laugh it off, and then they explode.
