Ahhh.... the "everything I've learned in life" thread... here, have some opinion.
If you're in any relationship because it's "important" to have a signifigant other, your relationships are and always will be :
1. Meaningless.
2. Superficial.
3. Needlessly painful.
4. Based on nothing but depression and neurotic codependence, with no positive qualities...
...and if for some reason that looks like a multiple-choice test to you, the answer is "all of the above."
Not only is being alone not all that bad... more importantly, if being alone *is* all that bad for you, you're waaaayyy too fucked in the head to be in any sort of relationship. This... probably includes friendship. Tough luck.
Relationships that are actually worth being in do sometimes happen. Here's a hint - they just... happen. No "will you be my boyfriend," no "hey, I'd like to get in her pants, how would I do that" just... you're kickin' it.... and then... you're... kickin' it. Only it really works really, really well.
Try to work on your head enough that you don't fuck it up when it happens. 'n that's usually not something one can do while in a relationship with someone who's just as fucked in the head as you.
Good luck in life.
