I need your advice.
Thanks for reading in advance.
Since this was my first love (I am 18, she is 21 in may)
We were seeing each other for going on 2 years, I asked her to marry me after a year and a half. I don't want to get her back because believe it or not she was using me for sex at the end of the relationship... The couple of questions I have are.
Will moving away from here make things feel better? Reason why I am asking that is because I have a memory of her and I over every square mile of my town, it kills me to drive around and remember the things that we did.
My second question is should I sell the engagement ring? I have a $2500 3 stone 1 carrot engagement ring that I have painfully been holding on to.
I know I will get over her its just a matter of time. I feel great most of the time about the decision it was mutual...
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much for reading and answering in advance.

Re: I need your advice.
I know how you feel with the memories. I some how managed to break up with the love of my life and not realise how stupid i was until 2 months down the line. I would hear a song, or sit in a particular position and memories would come flooding back. Luckily for me i never had to get over her because we got back together.
I think moving away and changing all your surroundings could help, it may just make you miss everything all the more because you have to start from scratch again.
MAybe view the memories in a different manor, and just remember the fun you had instead of the fact that you dont have it anymore. Concetrate on you life and success more for a while, and just have fun being single.
Sorta forgot what you asked when writing that, sorry.

Re: I need your advice.
Well, I don't know about the moving thing.
But girls are finicky about their engagement rings, so I don't know if you want to save one for the next girl you plan on marrying :P
Plus, if she ever finds out you actually bought the ring for someone else, you'd have hell to pay methinks.

This is the first time I've heard of a male complaining about being used for sex.

Re: I need your advice.
I think holding on to the ring will just make you miserable... maybe sell it and spend some of the money on something you always wanted yourself? Or take a trip somewhere you always wanted to go? As for moving away, that's tricky, I know what you mean about places reminding you of someone. But would that mean moving away from friends / family too? That could be equally tough.

Re: I need your advice.
Thats a bummer dude. I feel for you, really I do. I'd definitley sell the engagement ring, I think once thats out of your life it'll ease the pain and as someone else said spend the money on yourself, something you enjoy.

Re: I need your advice.
Wow ... I've been in almost the exact same situation, except she cheated on me, and left me for another guy (not the same guy she cheated on me with) ... all that aside ...
I lived in another state for 2 months and it didn't really help. I got through by just being angry that she cheated on me, and had the mindset of just "Fuck her." In your case, she used you. What the fuck?!? That fucking cunt used you and then spit you out. If it's mutual, then she doesn't want you either.
Go out and get laid, it can do wonders ... speaking from experience here.
Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

Re: I need your advice.
I will head to the mall to sell it back to the place I bought it...
I also have a 1/2 carrot 3 stone diamond necklace that went with it I bought from Kays for $300 which I am thinking I will sell back also.
Thanks for the advice I don't know if moving will completely solve the memory problems.
Thanks again.

Re: I need your advice.
Whatever you think is a positive step! The good thing is that you're thinking about how to ease your troubled mind. Every moment you can be positive about it all, you are healing.

Re: I need your advice.
You just don't give a girl your ex's old stuff. Especially not a ring. Sell that thing, nothing good can come of holding onto it.
Speaking from experience, getting out of town will help some. Then you're going to hear he name somewhere, or smell something that reminds you of her, and you'll be just as fucking miserable as before.
Normally I don't even bother reading posts like this, but I've been following your little soap opera from the beginning, and I'm hooked.

Re: I need your advice.
Thanks for the advice... Instead of moving I am thinking that I might just go on a nice month long road trip... I wrecked my truck, so I am probably going to buy a gsxr 1000 and go for a ride, I heard they are a lot better than my old R1.
I want to sell the ring, but at the same time it kills me to get rid of it, but so did breaking it off, but only good has come of it so its something I must do.
Thanks again guys, I know I can always count on you to make me feel better.

Re: I need your advice.
get rid of the ring, plus, three stone rings are ugly and so are too big diamonds. maybe talk to the next girl about marriage before you propose?
there's no need to move just because of her. just try to think of the memories as nothing more than what they are, memories. make new memories in the places that are painful to be. don't let one crap relationship drive you away from your home, think of it as an experience and time well spent.
