Re: Dealing with breakups...
I've just got back from the pub and I'm in no state to give constructive advice to this right now; however, I just wanted to say I approve of the thread, and that I'm going through exactly the same thing mate. I'll reply properly tomorrow.

Re: Dealing with breakups...
Long story short, I must leave a girl that I have been with for 2 years, so that I can move in with one that I've been in love with for 5 years. I have realized the whole time that by staying with both of these women, that I was only putting off a series of events that would cause me an immense amount of pain. I knew I would eventually have to leave one of them in favor of the other.
Ontop of leaving someone I love behind, I have to start a whole new life a state away, living with a new family, and planning a new future. Part of the reason I'm choosing this move over staying here with my newer love is that I've been with the other girl for so much longer, and our future prospects are so much better. Her parents are leaving us their home in a few years, leaving us only meager utility bills and other small expenses to pay for. This is not an opportunity that comes along often for most people. We are almost assured a life without debt, if things go well.
What do you do to remind yourself that everything is going to be okay? How do you find happiness again?
This is going to sound very emo of me, but I would honestly prefer death to this. I've constantly dealt with increasingly difficult problems ever since I can remember, but for some reason, this is the most difficult and painful part of my life yet.
I feel though, that if I do go through with this breakup, and this move, it will be like going over a hump, and that at least a few years of happiness will follow.
I'm apathetic towards things like that, so I've never really had a problem except for the first day or two.
But just tell yourself you made the right decision. Over and over and over.
It certainly sounds like you did.

Wow, I pity both the girls. Sucks that they're stuck with a guy like you.

Damn straight.
Plus. You're to damn egotistical. The pain it would cause "me". What about that new chick? What about her. You suck man.
