Every relationship is different.
Right? Of course they are, but there are basics needs and expectations that stem across all relationships. So my question is, am I being unreasonable? Am I wrong? Is he wrong? Is he just not the guy for me?
I'm 20, I usually work two part time jobs or one full time job while attending school full time.
He's 22, currently looking for a full time job, occupies his time with "projects" appointments and business stuff for the two businesses he helps operate on the side(BA in Marketing.) He lives about an hour 1/2 away. (NYC/Bronx)
In most respects, he's amazing. He's good looking, educated, out going, thoughtful.
But is he trying to make up for something?
Every time I see him. (Which is usually no more than twice a week, maybe he spends the night one night, is gone by 9-10 am and he considers that "three" days.)
Almost every time I see him, he'll bring me a little something, we'll go out for dinner, see a movie, and yeah he gets action just about every time he sees me too.
-It seems like a guy's dream come true. GF that isn't close enough to nag or just pop by, hang out now and then, get it when you can.
I dunno, as I type this all down I can't help but think "Jesus I'm being used."
Well, it seems like it. But there are inconsistencies. Mainly being that he's introduced me to all of his really close friends and openly displays me as his gf (to them anyways.)
Then there are the basics, says he loves me, acts like it, I mean, christ he does drive 2-3 hours just to see me.
But hell, even with my crap schedule you'd figure the guy with no job right now would make more time.
*feels like a woman seeing a married man* He says things will change. We'll get to see each other more. Well, he got a call back saying he was the top candidate for a position he recently applied to. All they need to do is check references. There's his 9-5+ some travel+still having the same activities on the side.
What's changing for the better?
So as a slight response to "How often do you call your S.o." Am I right or wrong to feel neglected? Or like something's wrong with this whole picture?

Re: Every relationship is different.
Well it sounds like you need to make a decision. You can either wait and hope things really will get better, or try to find someone else. Do you ever go to his place? If he was introducing you to his friends, chances are that he's noe married.

Oh heh, I know he's not married. I just feel like the woman waiting, listening to the guy say everything will change. I was relating it to how men having affairs say things along the lines of "I'll leave my wife, really" Empty promises.
I go to his place every once and a while, I've met his parents. His loyalty is only about 10% at question it's about 90% is he actually commited and serious enough to put an extra effort in? Right now I can't tell.

Re: Every relationship is different.
Ahh, the age old question of commitment. Ask hime if he wants to get married, lol.

... humm
No matter what a dude does the chick always feels neglected or suspicous.
Well just hang tight and see how it goes. And don't go all nosey bitch and start following him. Guys really dislike the noseiness. And don't start something out of nothing.

I understand what you mean entirely, and you're right, I'm wondering if I'm over reacting. Honestly, I'm used to seeing people I date every single day (or nearly.)
I wouldn't follow him, if he's doing something I don't want to know about, I wouldn't want to know. Besides, I couldn't if I tried. =P I only ask him the basics about his day. "How was it" "what's new?" "How'd blah blah go."

Re: Every relationship is different.
The question here is, do you love him?
Because, come on, unless you have seriously strong feelings for him, you can't expect the same in return (and not even then).
And on being used, shit dude, do YOU like the sex?

Re: Every relationship is different.
Well From that I'd say just trust him until he gives you a reason not to trust him. Don't go all blind trust giving him your bank account and pin number but don't really intrude on his space. He seem like a guy who likes his space. If you need to know he'll tell you I guess.

Damnit, I can expect that all I want. Unrequited love is the way to go! =P Kidding.
Yeah, I do, and yeah I do. I'm not saying it's something I bend over and suffer for, just throwing it in there as added info. haha

Aight, well, it sounds like you've got a good relationship and you know it. Nothing's going to be perfect. Except maybe this penne carbonara... naah, too spicy, not creamy enough.
Just enjoy it and go with the flow, don't make any stupid negative decisions, that will make you sad. Saaaad.
And sad is bad, oh hey that rhymes.

Re: Every relationship is different.
WTF you selfish bitch. He sounds great!
You're getting pissed just because he wont drive 3 hours whenever he has a spare second?!
You need to grow up. I don't care if he doesn't have a job. At least he's trying and not sitting around all day like some bfs. He's running two businesses all so.
Maybe you should drive to his instead. Don't tell me you don't have the time because you take time off when he comes to yours.
