a strange happening
here's a story...
last summer i had not been laid for several months. i was chilling with a japanese girl in my room, and my friend suggested that i fuck her. i took his advice and, for the next several months, we were fuck-buddies. she frequently bought me alcohol, as well as doing other nice things for me (ie. laundry, driving me around, etc.) although i appreciated these things, there was a discrepancy between our feelings towards each other. namely, she felt a lot more towards me than i did towards her. last month i finally got a chance to hook up with a girl that i have liked for a very long time. i feel way more than a sexual attraction to this girl. i broke things off with the japanese girl to have a relationship with this girl.
the breakup was hard on the japanese girl, as i was able to tell from her consumption of massive amounts of alcohol and cigarettes after the break.
i recently wrecked a friend's car, and am now financially responsible for the damages (i have no insurance.) the debt is in the thousands of dollars.
today, i got a letter in my po box with $500 in cash from my ex with a note saying that she wanted to do this for me, that she was sorry she couldn't offer me anything more than material gifts. i went to her to try to persuade her to take the money back. she said she would burn it if i didn't accept it. so i told her that i would treat it as a loan rather than a gift, and would eventually pay her back.
so my question, even though i don't expect any good advice (i will always follow my morality), is what the totse community thinks about this incident, and how i should handle it.

Re: a strange happening
I think treating it as a loan is a good idea. Even if you don't pay it back for a very long time (after which she might be thinking more logically/realistically), paying it back is the right thing to do.

Re: a strange happening
you should pay her back little by little or in other ways like a birhday gift or something cause I doubt she'll take $500 back

Re: a strange happening
How the fuck do you wreck and do thousands of dollars worth of damage? That's why you should have insurance. $400 every 6 months is a lot cheaper then thousands. Not to mention it's illegal not to have it. I know Totse isn't the place to preach morals, but SHEESH!
Pics of the hot Japanese girl?

Re: a strange happening
Don't try and give it back to her, that's rude (especially I believe for japanese).
The 'loan' thing is a good 'face saver' for you both.
The fact you were driving with no insurance means you're a total dick wad.
And it kind of sounds that she'd like to be a bit more than 'fuck buddies'.

Also, what kept you from seeing her as more than a mere fuck buddy?

Re: a strange happening
Either treat it as a loan, with interest, or don't accept it. Don't be a free loader!

Re: a strange happening
thanks for those who agreed with me on the loan idea, although i think that ketch hit it on the head. the possibility of paying it back is slim, not because of me being lazy and not being able to work it off (i could) but because the girl is returning to japan after graduation in may, and i don't know if i will be seeing her again in the states.
she is a sweet girl, she is just not what i need right now. its not fair to either of us. she wanted a serious relationship, as she has had a past of people just using her for her body. i got her pregnant this fall, and we had to get an abortion. i felt bad about this, so i tried to get closer to her emotionally. but it didn't seem to work out. she doesn't think about things, and she has some ideas about the world that i kind of find reprehensible (the abortion she had was her third, for fucksake...i mean, got pregnant? no problem...just suck it out) that and a lot of other reasons. i would be lying to myself if i tried to get more serious with her.
and jack, you call me a dickwad. you're no saint, are you? i bet you've done a lot of stupid shit in your life.

Re: a strange happening
i think you should pay her back...or at least try to. when you get the money, try to give it to her. if she doesn't accept, then it's yours. it was really cool of her to give you that money, but i feel like she shouldn't have...either way, just intend to pay her back.
