I thought everyone and their grandma had already heard of these, if not read them.
They do contain some sound advice, but it's really nothing groundbreaking.
I think the problem is that expectations are too high; reading the e-book will not turn you from a smelly nerd to a glimmering Adonis overnight.... but people seem to think that anyway :s
