Re: Stickies
 holy shit ... spell check!
I hope to God that stays funcitional thru the upcoming changes.
regarding stickies ...
I see in other forums they may have one primary one with links and what not, not a ton of little ones that clutter the page top.
Your job as a mod, Brad, is to sort through the upcoming suggestions and only link/post the riteous ones.
I would suggest to future posters of links, post links to individual topics/articles and not just the index page of large websites.
We could have 3 to 5 links to articles that cover the topics really well.
Thus when a newbie asks "what's up with creatine supplementation" etc ... they can be told to read through the 3 or so creatine links first, then report back.
thinking of redundant topics that always recycle thru RY:
exercising for fat loss
exercising to increase muscle mass
exercises for increasing strength
exercises for increasing endurance
exercises to increase speed
exercises to increase punching power
exercises to jump higher
protein supplements
creatine supplements
steroid use
eating to gain weight
eating to lose weight
anyway, here's another of my favorite links for estimating your daily caloric needs:

Re: Stickies
I think now we have stickies, it's time to write up a Reinvent Yourself FAQ.
It should include everything anyone can think of so we should all come forward with suggestions, then we might get some decent discussions because people will be able to educate themselves on certain topics BEFORE posting.

I'm don't want to start an arguement here, but I have to say it. If taken properly, they aren't safe, but they aren't as bad as many make them out to be. I wouldn't use them though.

The 'Official' Recipe thread.
I figured it'd be a good idea to make a thread completely dedicated to recipes (perhaps make it a sticky?). This is where we can share our favorite recipes that contribute to good eating and proper fueling for whatever Athletics we embark upon. I'll share a couple for now and post some more when I can be bothered!
Guilt Free Hamburgers:
1/4 lb of 99% lean ground beef or ground turkey patties (or if you prefer hand-rolling your burgers you'll need a couple of eggs or whatever you use to hold the meat together, I use eggs because there's nothing wrong with them).
whole wheat bun
1/2 cup or so of mixed veggies (I prefer bell peppers, zucchini, perhaps squash, onions)
1 teaspoon either steak sauce or BBQ sauce
Dash of pepper
Dash of salt
You can cook the burgers any way BUT frying. Foreman grill, open-flame grill, or even broiler if you don't have grill access. Broilers are underestimated a lot. If you use one of those broiler pans where the fat drips into a lower pan you can eliminate some of the fat from the meat. Though ground turkey won't have a lot to begin with. You can either marinade the meat in the sauce or add while cooking, doesn't really matter but I prefer marinading overnight. Cook to your preference of tenderness.
Sautee the vegetables to preferred tenderness.
Toast the buns if you like.
When you top the burgers with the vegetables, done just right, the consistency of the veggies will resemble cheese, thus, you won't miss cheese at all.
Flapjacks for MASS:
12 egg-whites and two whole eggs.
1 cup of oatmeal.
Couple drips of vanilla extract.
Couple dashes of cinnamon (you can use a good amount, cinnamon is actually pretty healthy)
Throw it all in a bowl, whip into batter.
Pour into skillet (use PAM)
Makes two 7-inch pancakes.
Top with Splenda.

Re: The 'Official' Recipe thread.
nachoes
get string mozerralla cheese (fat free or low fat)
white corn nacho chips or healthy equivalent
pull the string cheese apart and lay it over the chips in criss cross lines. then sprinkle with salt. if you like spicy use tony chachere's, and if you like hot use tabasco sauce. add jalapenos, lean steak, chicken, or cooked ground beef.
microwave or heat in oven until cheese is melted.
this is a healthy alternative if you are wanting mexican style food. better than taco hell.

Re: The 'Official' Recipe thread.
Sentinel's Quick-n-Dirty Carb Bowl
Make a two cups of rice (usually this means starting with one cup of dry rice, as it expands), either the "real way" or just using instant rice. Chop up whatever vegetables you have in your fridge (bell peppers, pea pods, carrots, et cetera) and mix it with the rice. Put on a bit of velveta cheese and pop it in the microwave for 40-60 seconds. Done! You can also add hamburger or turkey too. If you can't be arsed to cook any meat, some chopped onion will add some flavor. It's more or less a whole meal; just add some milk or whatever. I've also eaten it in a tortilla.

Re: The 'Official' Recipe thread.
I like buckwheat as far as pancakes go. They taste heartier and have more fiber (whole grain).
Bean Dish
2 cans of cooked black beans, drained well- about a pound and a half
1 pound of grilled lean steak (flank or sirloin is great) or chicken, chopped
1 small can of corn, drained well
1/2 can of chili
1 cup of cooked rice
Chopped jalapeños - lots
chilis in adobo if you can find it
any spices you might like (cumin, chili powder, cayenne, paprika, etc.)
Precook your rice, meat, etc.
Get a very large tupperware and throw one can of black beans in and 1/2 can of chili (eat the other half while cooking). Mash well with a potato masher. Pour the other can of beans, the corn, rice, meat, jalapeños and other spices and mix well. Spoon out a platefull and heat or spoon onto a wheat tortilla and heat for a burrito.
*note: if you don't normally get much fiber or eat beans often, do not add garlic or curry powder. You will be shitting and ripping ass constantly but to add insult to anal injury, it will smell like garlic or curry.
makes about 5 meals

Here's one quck and easy one I like doing.
Wang some garlic and onion in a frying pan and fry some hacked up chicken with it too.
Get cooking some tagliatelli.
When the chicken is cooked through pour some tomato and herb sauce on it but not much coz it's not menna be a soup. Put loadsa cut up salad leaves in the mix and stir it up.
Put it on top of the tagliatelli.
I also add loadsa poppy seeds to the mix aswell, but they aint necessary.

Re: The 'Official' Recipe thread.
This is how I normally like my rice if I'm not being my usual self and just inhaling a shitload of rice:
cube up a steak, toss it on a pan with soy sauce and some sesame oil, cook to preference. Add a bit of 5 spice and some chopped chilis to the mix, jalapenos work just as well, as do some milder peppers. Add just a couple drops of orange flavoring. mix it in well with the rice. I could do it healthier, but I'm lazy.

Re: The 'Official' Recipe thread.
jacked-up noodles
Fill a pot about 3 inches up with water, and make it a little bit salty.
Add a few cloves of rough-cut garlic, and a big ol' pinch of loose green tea leaves (recommended gunpowder green) and a little bit of red pepper flake.
Bring that to a boil and ribbon some ginger into little bits. When boiling add noodles (soba are good, they make it clumpy and sticky at the end which I like) and the ginger bits simultaneously.
About a minute in to the boiling, add some pizza-style sliced mushrooms (cremini, anyone?) [optional add a big squirt of nuoc mam/fish sauce].
When the noodles are almost done, add some more garlic in the form of the dried granulated bits in a big pinch. Shit should be smellin' like a felon.
When noodles are cooked drain by using a pan lid and tilting carefully, then turn over the noodles a bit by flopping them in the air- this will dry them and cool them a bit making them slightly congeal together.
Dump in a bowl and add a dash of either A. olive oil or B. tamari depending on how you feel.
Finish with cracked black pepper over the top and some parsely if you are an appearance freak. A little sprinkle of salt over the top never hurts too.
These noodles clear you nose (depending on red pepper added), make you horny, and wake you the hell up due to the green tea absorbed in the noodles. Now tell me all of those things aren't good.

(sorry if this seems a bit long, but it is a fairly simple recipie involving one pot, some hot water, and a utensil of some sort with a few things like noodles and herbs. Not exactly rocket science)

Re: The 'Official' Recipe thread.
Breakfast, Chinese peasant style
1 cup of cooked brown rice, as long as it's not enriched white rice it is a healthy, slow digesting carb with high fiber. Also, one 6 oz. chicken breast chopped up and thrown into bowl with the rice. Season with salt-free Mrs. Dash or pepper. Simple, delicious, nutritious(good carbs and protein) and I make it all the time.

Re: The 'Official' Recipe thread.
A while back, someone posted how to make your own noodles. I tried it, and it worked well. I don't remember much, but it was a 1:1 white flour:whole grain with some eggs/water? mixed in. Then you rolled it thin, folded the dough (which had flour between it) and sliced it. The resulting noodles were then boiled or dried. Also, you could have added herbs/spices into the dough earlier. I'm curious as to how much eggs to use, though....

Youll need
Vanilla yogurt, 1c.
Prunes, 1/2c.

1 passionfruit
1/4 cup blueberries, frozen
a little bit of honey/sugar
1. combine all of it in food proccesscor.
2. blend until smooth.

Shit on Rice
Pour a can of Chunky/Progressive soup in pan, cook until done.
In microwave, cook white rice.
Drain out the soup, depending on how much "gravy" you want on your rice.
Pour whats left of soup over rice.
Edit: Came out good!
