Is there only one solution to my problem?
I have my first girlfriend now, at the age of 20. She's awesome, we've been together for 6 months or something and... Well, she's had one bf before, but looks pretty keen to stay with me. For the rest of her life.
Now I'm starting to wonder, is this the one? I don't think I've ever really been in love with her... I mean not really with those magic feelings, where I wanna do anything for her and worship her. She's just very cool, we click and she ain't half-bad looking.
Is it fucked up that I'm not sure if I wanna be with her? I'm ashamed to say it, but sometimes I'm afraid that once I'm old, I'll regret not having random sex with hot chicks when I was young.
Anyways, let's sum it up. Has anyone here been in a situation where you wondered if you should see if you could do better? Did you act on it? Will I regret it if I break it off? Advice anyone?

Re: Is there only one solution to my problem?
yes, I've been in a situation like that, and what it meant for me was that it was time to end the relationship. I didn't realize it at the time, but I would've been better off breaking up with the guy as soon as I started thinking like that, instead of holding on as long as I did.
I think that if she's your first girlfriend, you might need to date a few other people before you find 'the one,' or even know exactly what you're looking for. If you can't picture yourself with her when you're 80 years old, then she's probably not right for you. Also, people rarely end up with the first person they date. It does happen, I know couples who started dating in grade 9 and are happily married with upwards of 2 kids. I think that's a pretty special case though.
Will you regret breaking it off? Probably, because that's one of the natural reactions most people have during a breakup. But you might regret it more if you don't. You just have to think long and hard about it for a while. Good luck.

Re: Is there only one solution to my problem?
Fuck, that's the shitty thing about life's bigger problems. There aren't a bunch of options you have, there's only one way to go on about it.
I'll regret my ass off for breaking up with her. But I may also do the same if I don't.

Dude, it's been 6 months.
I wouldn't break up quite yet, it's fairly normal to have doubts.

No, hell no. There's no such thing as "the one". Don't fall into the marriage/kids trap. It's all one big lie.

Re: Is there only one solution to my problem?
I would give it a bit more time. If you still feel like this in 6 months, I would talk to her about it.
I was in the same situation with my first boyfriend. He was great and I loved him, but he was all I had ever experienced, and I know I would have regretted it if I had stayed with him.
Don't stay with her if it's not working out. But if you're still having a good time with her it can't hurt to wait and see...
