Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
Firstly: No one who's old enough to be my mum answer (sorry xiao/oc6). Back in your day, the things that were considered romantic would now get you called an emo/fag/clingy.
People come to this board and ask for romantic ideas, and even the girls tell them to forget about it and just go for her. Wtf? Do chicks just wanna get slammed by big dicks? Is that all they want these days? Fuck! You sluts, what happened to the romance 'n shit? Jesus christ. B&M, I know, fuck you.
Where has all the romance gone? Why don't girls like it any more?
I came up with one answer: The girls who don't want it are the ones you fuck, blow on their tits, and leave. When you find the girl that still likes romance, hold on to her.
I'm a romantic, so sue me.

You just need to meet the right type of girls.. for every 10 girls I meet I probably only want to date 1 of them.

Maybe you just fail?
Although, I quite agree with you. Perhaps its just the group of people you know, or the stereotypes that you're attaching..*shrugs*. I bet if you were to get to know someone, one who you're ultimate score isn't to have sex with, but someone who you want to get intimate with.
Try the good ol' romantic arquin on them, see how they like it. Someone who you have built and established an emotional connection with.

Girls don't want the romantic me. They want the me who is angry and mean and slams their pussy really hard. I know this.
I've discovered this through my different means of intoxication. I'll go out and do E, and I'll try and pick up. But I'm a gentleman, considerate, and well...a nice person. I don't cross boundaries. I won't get anything that night.
Then on another night I'll drink. Drinking just turns me into a fucking monster. I'm violent, angry, cocky, in your face and just a downright fucking cunt. I get my choice of the girls.
This confuses me, and makes me think humanity has gone down the shitter. Can some one please explain what's going on?

Romance isn't dead, it's just something you POSSIBLY get into after you've explored slamming each other.
It really makes romance more special, if you think about it.

If you go to clubs and bars, chances are you will only find girls who want to fuck without romantic attachment. That's where they go, because it's easy to find somebody to fuck there.

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
The word slamming/slammed makes me laugh, particularly when it sounds like it's being used so seriously.
I really think it depends on where you go to pick up girls. If you go to any of the student bars around here you're going to find exactly that, girls who want to be slammed.
It seems the best place to pick up girls who aren't looking for that, are the places you don't go to score like the library, some music gigs and various social activities that have been set up without drunken sex in mind.
heh heh, slammed.

Shit hot. Remember, never accept a drink from me if I'm stirring it.
Clubbing is so much fun. Drugs, dancing and just letting loose. Where are all the 'nice' girls (nice means not slutty but still hot) on a friday/saturday night?

Humanity went down the shitter long ago, we just don't bother hiding it anymore.
Girls these days, for some reason seem to think it's cool to whore themselves out. Hell I know a few who brag about it.

Humanity was never out of the fucking drain, we're comfy down in the pipes. You've watched too many movies if you feel such a learned urge to make a fool of yourself. Any value you place on mating rituals is completely arbitrary

you guys talk a lot of shit.
some girls like romance, some girls don't.
you'd think that not HAVING to be romantic would make it easier for guys. just because i don't demand flowers and chocolates and extravagant things from my boyfriend doesn't mean i don't like romance, cheesy or not.
i don't think that any girl would dislike a genuine display of romance.

Like a few other posters said, maybe you shouldn't look for romance in bars while taking E and drinking? If you want to slam chicks real hard, hit the bars. If you want romance, ask a girl on a date.

I like getting slammed and I like romantic gestures. You don't have to separate girls into two separate groups, one for slamming, one for loving. You can have the best of both worlds...
I remember one movie I saw the main character ended up cheating on his wife (who he loved, alot) because he didn't want her to do things he saw as degrading like anal sex or blowjobs. So he loved his wife and got the other stuff from other girls. Maybe you wouldn't cheat, but is this still your mindset?

Eh, i was teh first guy to romance my ex (though she'd had experience with being slammed, to say the least), then we got back together (after she had some sexcapades with my best friend) and now she wants nothing to do with sex for a while, to "take it slow." It's a bummer.

It is true though. Lots of girls just want to fuck. And all the benefits of a relationship, just without the actual attachment.

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
My girlfriend loves the romantice side of our relationship (almost to the detriment of anything else). It's highly probable that she is in the minority. She was raised extremely strictly - so much so that the first time she saw porn was three weeks ago (she is 19), and she told me afterwards that she was scared or something.
That doesn't matter too much, as she is a really genuinely lovely person, but still, there must be plenty like her who really do appreciate a bit of romance.

Trust me, kid. Romance has been dead for a while. Romance is nothing more than the guy buying the girl a whole bunch of shit for no reason other than that chick being really hot. I don't know why all the hubbub.
People always bitch that chivalry is dead, one thing I've noticed though: It's always guys that aren't getting any. Learn to shut up, be a man, and even learn to have some fun. Chivalry may be dead, but sex sure as hell isn't.

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
I don't know where you people live who think romance is dead...Because I see it all of the time!! My husband is ALWAYS doing little romantic gestures like bringing me a flower or buying me a thoughtful gift. I know other women who's husbands are romantic too (Although not as romantic as mine.:P). I'm always seeing men doing romantic gestures when I'm out...I would find it rather shocking NOT to see it.
Seriously, and it's not just here in Georgia, because I saw it in Florida, California and Texas as well!

I'm eighteen years young. I have quite an advanced perspective on relationships and marriage. I have many classes that deal with these things under my belt. That's why I use the term "kid." I don't ask questions about the actions of women, I know a lot of the answers which is why I use the term "kid." We're all on the same page, here, age has nothing to do with it.
You're just going to attack me for every single post I make from now on, huh? Some chick cheated on you, I advocate open relationships, you associate me with the guy who stole your woman, is that it?
Look, dude, I have no beef with you. Don't attack me every time I try to say anything, do you really want to be that douchebag who just can't let go? I told you in the other post: stop being a prick, you have no right to judge me. The reason I did what I did was because they came onto me, I have no regrets.
Edit: Romance develops in a relationship. Sometimes people display it right off the bat, but a lot of people here do not do that. Romance equals weakness to a lot of people. I don't see it anymore, maybe because I've stopped looking.
Romance to me is trying to impress someone with something you aren't.
Love is not romance, love is picking flowers because you know they'd want it. Love is the little things, romance is the grandeur, expensive, and passionate.
That's my perspective on things. You don't have to adopt it, but that's why I think romance is dead. Chivalry is dead. The man/woman barrier is growing smaller every single day. Woman have reknowned independence and act as such. This is why I beleive in equal, open relationships where people can act independently
Edit: OP: Why do you care if romance is dead? Less work for yourself.

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
It all comes down to the type of chicks you hang around, the places you visit, the attitude you display, and a whole heap of other things (as others have said above).
Girls generally don't go to a night club to find a nice sensitive guy to take them out to dinner. They go to have fun, dance, and mabey have a good fuck at the end of the night. Sure, you could find a nice girl there, but the chances are lower.
It's time to start learning some new skills, and broadening your friend base a little my friend. Work out what sort of girl you like, and work out a way to hang around them. And have fun doing it!
Mental as Anything had a song - "Whole Wide World" I think it was called. Try and listen to a copy of it if you can - it'll set you straight. But before you listen to that, listen to Eminem's song "Superman". (Sorry, I'm going through my music collection at the moment..).
Oh, and I would guess you have been reading some of David Deangelo's work. He does some good stuff, but it's hardly a definitive guide to meeting the woman of your dreams.....

Your still a kid - classes at church don't mean shit in the real world. Come back after having a few relationships outside of school, and getting a bit of life experience under your belt.
I don't normally wade into these things, but grow up a little, and stop making yourself out to be something your not - AN ADULT!

I don't take classes at church. I'm in college. I've had a very long dating history. The girl I'm dating right now I've been with since I was thirteen. Of course it was on and off, but the longest run we've been on was three years.
You're sure one to talk, guy. What do you know about being an adult?

Sorry about the church thing - I just assumed. But the fact remains you are 18 (the youngest age you can post something on Totse), still in school, and have no right to be calling anyone else here a kid. You have taken classes on relationships - wow. You've had a girlfriend for 5 years on and off - double wow. Your still a kid, and still in school.
Grow the fuck up, and stop making out you are bigger and better than you are.
And lets just say I am a tad older than you....

And a straight one, at that. I just have quite the hate-on for a large portion of the female population (read: the slutty, stupid ones) and I rant about them a lot.
Romance is NOT dead. I won't let it die, dammit!

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
The reason women don't like it anymore is biological. Before, women were not independent, they appreciated any nice gesture men through their way. Now that women can support themselves and everything's decided by their choice, it's back to the basics, they want the man who as as masculine as possible.
Sorry, being a romantic is unnatural to real men. It's good to be once in a while be nice to your woman, but doing shit like taking long walks on the beach and eating spaghetti and accidently slurping the same one into a kiss is fucking gay.

This is probably true for some chicks, but definitely not all....
I think romance is being replaced by thoughtfulness. Rather than buying her a bunch of flowers, these days it is better to get her a single flower that was prominant in the huge bunch near the lobby where you first met. Or rather than taking her out to dinner, it is better to cook something from her home country, or something her mum used to cook.
You know what I mean? In a lot of ways, it is harder than straight out romance, because you have to actually listen and learn all the time. Every experience with every girl is different, and I think girls these days appreciate the little thoughtful things rather than big romantic gestures.
You can still be big and tough and macho, but a little thought is what girls seem to need now.
I could be wrong, but it works for me....

Yes, thoughtfulness, just like the feeb who baked some bitch brownies with "i wuv u" on them and got rejected.
Sorry, listening to women is also gay. Women don't want a guy who "listens", they want a guy who is impulsive and random. There's a difference between what women want, and what women say they want .

Nice post Sick_Boy. I agree, there are many girls who enjoy both the slamming and the romance. Perhaps be a bit patient until you find one.

You're sure one to talk, guy. What do you know about being an adult?
I'm gonna defend the people calling you a kid. Your a kid. You've had what? 1 long relationship over the span of roughly your entire teenage life.

I've never been cheated on (mainly because I don't go out with losers). No my "beef" with you is that you're pretentious and arrogant, plain and simple.

I may be settled down now, but I did date before I was married...And I can still experience and appreciate romance despite my advanced age.:P
You guys are all thinking way too much about this and you're focusing on trivialities instead of seeing what's important. For one, "romance" is SUBJECTIVE and can't "die" as long as the idea is still out there. It's like "god" or "peace" in that it is alive as long as you believe it is and look for it in the world.
People have totally unrealistic expectations and that's what leads them to say that "romance is dead." Arquin is also probably hanging around with the "wrong" crowd, but that's another thread.:P

You've never called one of your peers "kid?" Maybe highschool gym class: "Who's that kid?" As I said, we're all peers, here. I wasn't saying that I was an adult. I'm saying I have the right to call anyone I want to "kid." It's in the fucking constitution, I'm going to do it. I was pointing out that we're all on the same page. 'Ketch has you all believing you can only call someone "kid" if you're older.
Don't condescend my education in the matter, either. The social science classes I've taken boarder around eight: Cultural Anthropology, Abnormal Psychology, Advanced Psychology, Sociology, Social Problems, Human Biology, Developmental Psychology... I feel that these classes are enough to say that I know what I'm talking about, don't you? Your E4 is impressive, but doesn't apply to giving relationship advice. I deal with people a lot

Dude, I'd just stop replying. Your digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole here.
Your experiences add up to a big fat zero. Noone gives a shit what you learn't at school. It doesn't mean anything. When you are older, you will realise this. Then you'll get some respect.
Until then, don't offer advice about things you quite obviously know nothing about.

I've very recently realized: Most girls complain about sleazy guys. But the way they act, portray them selves, and lack self respect, well, they're just begging to be hit on be sleazy guys. Any way I'm pretty sure it's why they're out: to get hit on by lots of guys.
I was naive and never understood that. I'm going to adapt (become a sleaze?). There's no point complaining. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

They may be sleazy in your eyes, but they are persistant and arrogant, and some girls like this.
Look, just be yourself, and you'll be fine. Most girls can see through an act, and the ones that can't probably aren't worth wasting too much time on.
But to each his/her own. So long as you have fun, and don't hurt anyone or get hurt, you'll be fine...

Well I'm going to listen to some members advice and stop doing E and drinking when I go out. Because it's WINTER! And I'll be on mushrooms instead, Hooray!
I'm just complaining about the girls who go out solely to pick up. They have expectations of it. It's just so....hmmm, well, honest. Not that I hate honesty, but what happened to just going out, getting mashed and listening to cool genres of music with mates?
Like there are girls who hook up with 3 different guys a week. That just makes me sad .

Digging myself deeper and deeper, huh? I told you where I was coming from. I think those are some pretty credible courses. You're right, this thread isn't about what you can and can't scientifically prove or even statistically proven data. None of this matters anyways. It's just another jackass complaining because girls don't like his limp-dick attempts that he deems "romantic."
I think romance is gay. The reason I think romance is gay is because I have a fully functional pair of balls, what's your excuse for your thoughts? Your girlfriend loves your whole "Oooh, you're the only one for me?" Join a fucking boy band, then maybe you'll get famous with the pussy baby bullshit. The whole "kid" ordeal? I'll call OP whatever the fuck I want. Same to you, kid.
OP: You want to get girls? Have you tried working out, maybe taking up some sports? How about this, stop the "When Harry Met Sally" bullshit. It doesn't work like that. I will say again and again: Women like a man
Go ahead and fucking critisize what I say, and tell me what you think. I'm probably wrong to a lot of you, and there's always going to be that one douche-bag: "that's only sleazy women," "Those girls are whores!" Fucking products of society haven't been through a divorce, huh? Wait until your monogamous, happy family gets all dysfunctional because some stuipid bitch or sleazy asshole decides s/he's not happy enough with this peice of the monogamous media-lifestyle and the other person overreacts. Cool, we've got ruined lives. Why the fuck is the divorce rate so high?
YEAH! LOVE'S TOTALLY IN THE AIR! I'm so happy that people don't listen to anything. I'm so fucking glad that no one looks at statistics, or basic human functions!
You think I've only dated one girl? I've seen 'em all. They're all the same thing. It's all some stupid skirt trying to get a peice of the pie. Some of them just have different approaches. If you're faking an interest in romance, then so will they. Girls are as malleable as molten gold, and just as dangerous.
You think I haven't been around? Think again. No one listens to me because I'm unorthodox, but I really don't give a shit. You're going to hear me regardless.

I work out like 5 times a week and ride a killer motorbike. Nothing more manly than that.
Reading comprehension, DO YOU HAVE IT? I don't have problems getting girls. I said that in the OP. Girls are easy (in many senses of the word).
Easy girls are even easier. I'm just saying that every now and then I'd want some affection to go along with the sex. I hate the modern portrayal of man, where all we want is sex. That's bullshit. Even the toughest fuckers around want more than just sex every now and then.
*Edit*
Also, what happened to courting? I liked the challenge of it. It was cool, we used to do it when we were younger, but now, it's physically affectionate first, then emotionally. It's backwards. Now stfu with your meth induced tangents of "divorce" and shit. WTF DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?
I'm all for not labeling a relationship. I'm even more for finding like 2/3 girls, truly caring for all of them and having very casual relationships devoid of jealousy. I'm incapable of it at this time (still too young, get attached too easily). But still, it's all fucking these days. Make a guy work for it! Make it take a while.
At my school, there were like 2 hot chicks renowned for being hard to get into. 18 year olds with only 1 sex partner in their life. It took me ONE FUCKING MONTH to get into one of their pants! And I'm the farthest thing from pushy.

Your 18, and had one girlfriend since you were 13, albeit in an "on again-off agian" relationship. You said that yourself in a previous thread. I'll really listen to your great advice on women.....

Arrogant kid that thinks he knows everything? I don't know about a lot of things. I make assumptions according to what I've seen and who I've met. These assumptions are more often than not correct.
I've had many women, One girlfriend in particular that I've shared feelings with. The rest were me overcompensating for a shitty youth. I didn't go through hell for nothing, I better damn well know something after all that. I wouldn't put words in my mouth because you've read "one other thread."

Name a conventional sport that's more life or permanent injury threatening. You wont find any. You just compared motocross with star-trek. My fucking god you're a queer.
I get laid. I'll be honest, I haven't in around, 2 weeks. I'm very angry and frustrated. But other than that I get a weekly dose of poon. So my lack of sex for the past two weeks has hardly ANYTHING to do with this thread. No, actually I'm lying.
Going out and having my realizations made me question most female's fidelity. But then when a chick I cared for wanted to remain physical after it was evident on both sides that the emotional wasn't working, well that was the final straw. So you could say the direct offer of more sex is what's made me bitch.

This is a stupid conversation. You're not an adult. You don't know what an adult is but you feel the need to tell me that I'm not it. Awesome. Way to go, dude! It's not the sex, either. It's much more than that, it's conversations, media, ridiculous people saying ridiculous things.

Wow, I can see a lot of women attracted to parapeligic guys. It's all the rage. If you're getting laid, then why do you care? Show your woman romance, there's nothing wrong with you doing it. I just think it's gay. Richard Simmons gay. It's gayer than rainbows. It's gayer than happiness. It's a stupid thing to bitch about because it's under your control.
Chumpion,
I'm sure where you come from people respect you, I know I do. I don't think you have a point, though. The things you say are just a kid calling another kid a kid. A pot calling a kettle black. I'm a kid, not an adult. I have good advice if you want the things I do. I lead a very happy and sucessful life. I make a good deal of money. I'm self-sufficient. I'm still a kid, though. You didn't make any points.
"joker," huh? Cool. I would love to see these "quotes," too. my other posts more often than not reinforce my experience. I may not be the coolest guy on the block, but I'm right a large portion of the time

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
When did you start assuming I was a kid? I know my kids very often tell me I act like a big kid, but thats what dads do. My wife just shakes her head at me a lot of the time.
My only beef with you is you have no life experience, but are trying to make out you do. You think you do, but you definitely do not, and it comes accross painfully obviously in your threads. I don't think you even realise you are doing it.
If you stop doing that, and lose the "I'm right most of the time" attitude, you will earn a lot of respect in this place.
*EDIT
Actually dude, I am just reading your little post where you owned CarbonB's arse a couple of weeks ago. Mabey you aren't tooooo bad afterall...lol

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
^^I guess I just assumed you were young because you were on TOTSE. A lot of the older people become mods. I know my view on relationships seems a bit fucked up, but from what I've seen that's just how things work.
Sorry I assumed you were young. I didn't know I was arguing with someone that had kids

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
Hah, try for something cool.
I'm suprised. Honestly, I didn't expect to see you come around and be cool just because I bitched out Carbon a couple weeks ago. I guess common foes really do bring us all together.
Edit: All we are saying... is give peace a chance!

Re: Is romance dead? Do chicks just wanna get slammed?
Oh my fucking god. Both of you stop fucking arguing over who's a fucking "kid". Whip out your oh-so-holy dicks and fucking measure them already. Neither one of you have any fucking basis to say SHIT because
A.) On the one hand, we have mr. oh-so-fucking-rebellious "love is in the air because my holy cock swatted it down" "I'm so mature because I'm in college" dude. Okay. Really. Ultimately, this thread is so fucking flawed its pathetic. You have your own experience, which bring you to your own conclusion. The OP has his. I have mine. By saying that a statistic governs all of that is such bullshit. A statistic doesn't govern anything. Your thoughts are valid, but christ, who the fuck died and made you the fucking authority on all things related to relationships? Keep your opinions in fucking opinion space and don't try to tell me romance is dead. Because it sure as fuck isn't and I don't even feel like proving that. Maybe the sluts you're around are jaded by being around you, but nobody that I know is, or at least nobody that I pursue. There are brainless people but the great thing is, you can tell them to go fuck off. So take your fucking philosophy and stop trying to prove its fact. It ISN'T and the fact that you can't grasp that just disproves you. Classes and all that theoretical SHIT can't touch reality, and all relationships could be fucked over by one girl/guy who makes you think shit you've NEVER thought before.
And then we have
B.) Mr. "omg u r teh wrongz". Do you just exist to refute him and bitch? I mean, you go after him for what was admittedly a jackass statement related to age, and GUESS THE FUCK WHAT YOU'RE A YEAR OLDER THAN HIM THAT MUST MAKE YOU THE WISEST SENSEI OF THEM ALL. You're an idiot, and there is NOTHING that could ever change that, because you, like him, CAN'T REALIZE THAT DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES PRODUCE DIFFERENT THINGS. There are no absolutes here. NONE. And really, your whole "omg u r teh yr yngr tahn mi" is so fucking ridiculous. He's way more articulate than you.
Now this is a bit of a rambling post, because I'm just kind of pissed and its a bit late. But, a few things:
Chivalry isn't romance, and chivalry isn't male domination either. Romance also isn't being "big and tough and macho". Its a totally dynamic definition, because, like any other word, its our experience that defines it for us. I have my own ideas. Everyone else has theirs. Hell, this is on the fucking internet. For all anyone in here fucking knows, the girls in X are sluts like fuck but over in Y its fucking shakespeare. All the judgment in here is such bullshit. Grow the fuck up and get some fucking tolerance. To the OP: Yeah, girls in bars want to get laid. What the fuck else is new? Change your fucking environment if you want something different, or just stop trying to just get laid, because that isn't romance either.

No...I always said "who the fuck is that guy/idiot" Never kid. Hell the only person I refer to kid is my 3 year old little brother, whose old enough to be my kid. The only person that calls me "kid" is a person who I've nicknamed "Mom".
quote:"'Ketch has you all believing you can only call someone "kid" if you're older."
You know, for someone who has such a high and superior education, I figured you would've taken a class on culture and paid attention in Sociology, instead of just taking it to bs a resume. Let me explain something to you boy genius, these days people want to stay young. Not to mention traditionally, you dont call someone "kid" unless your insulting their intelligence, or unless they're really old enough to be your kid.
Now, inncidentally enough, jack has a son who just happens to be our age! So, oddly enough, had God cursed/blessed you to be born the spawn of jack, you would be his kid!

Oh, alright. I'm just going to agree from here on out. People keep on throwing arguments at me. I guess everybody wants a peice. I do not think love is in the air, and I feel I have a valid opinion as to why not. Other than that, there is nothing left to say.

Romance is NOT dead. I won't let it die, dammit!
you're honest about a lot of females and you dont get all defensive like the slutty ones do when they hear the truth. shit, you're proof not all girls want to get fucked
