Default The Problem of Cohabitation

Some of you may know what cohabitation is, while others of you may not. Cohabitation is the process where two individuals whom "love" each other live in the same apartment, house, etc. They do this because they want to bring their relationship to the next step. They do this because they think it will be good for the relationship. And all together, they are daydreaming romantics thinking living in one place is an awesome idea.

However, to say the least, people think cohabitation is a good idea.

Yet from studies done throughout the decades among various households, relationships, and more, people find many couples aren't doing well in these kind of relationships.

People cohabitate for various reasons: economic and more. Yet many people are poor, struggling to keep a decent income, and want to have an education. People with a high socio-economic status, meaning with education, money, and high status, typically don't have as many problems in cohabitation.

People have been fooling themselves by thinking cohabitation is going to work out.

Many people don't have education, money, and high status. And people don't notice the dark reality of cohabitation until it's too late.

Dureing cohabitation, you get to see a person's dark side. You get to see what makes the person awful, bad, lazy, incompetent, and more. You get to see all of these things in a larger depth than before.

So, to say the least, the next time you like a girl and she's dating a guy, get her to cohabitate with him. The relationship will eventually fuck up, and most cohabitations end in breakup.

Not many people understand the reasons for breakups. Sometimes the women sees the guy using her as an economic tool. Sometimes the girl will use the guy as an economic crutch. The reasons for these breakups vary widely, and they often lead to problems in socio-economics. Otherwise, people eventually cheat on each other, ignore each other, and try living their own lives while under the same household.

So, if you want two lovers to break up, tell them to cohabitate. Tell them you think it's an awesome idea. Agree with them.

Good luck!

I've lived with my boyfriend for years. I go to school and work when school's out. He works.

We pay our bills and aren't broke.

Are you saying people shouldn't live together till they're married?

Isn't it better to see a persons 'dark side' before you sign your life away for them?

I think your post was mostly pointless. Some people's relationships work out and some don't. More people seperate now than 50 years ago because they CAN, not because they have more problems (my own opinion).

You talk about studies but don't cite any or have any links. Maybe if you did I could agree with you but for now--no.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought the whole point of living together was to see if you really wanted to be with that person for the rest of your life.

If you start hating each other, then you obviously don't want to be in a relationship.

I don't want to live with any girl. The whole idea of being with someone all the time scares the fuck out of me. I don't want some other person joined to the hip and involved in my finances and domestic life and all the rest. agh.

I'm about to graduate college and get a real, decent paying job...and move out of my apartment with my roommate and get my own apartment....My girlfriend currently lives about 40 minutes away from the school we both currently goto. Something tells me that when I get my place she's going to bring up the idea of moving in together. I don't want to do that....I mean once I get my own place, I want it to stay MY own place for a long time. I have to have my space. besides, I hate having to hold in farts when she's around. I know I could fire em out in front of her and it wouldn't matter, but still, I don't.

no cohabitation.

QFT. There's only ONE thing I can see being good about a girl living with me, instantly available sex, any time.

Everything else can be achieved by us living in different places. Need comfort? Cool, there's this new invention called a phone. Ring her.

Need money? Online banking.

Company? Go meet up. Shouldn't be too hard.

But insta-sex urges, that's where it's at. Hardly a reason to live with a girl. I also have a hand.

FUCK living with your partner.

My husband and I lived together for about 4 months before getting married. I mean...Once you are around someone that much, it is true that you discover things about them that are VERY annoying, but that's not all there is to it. We've lived together for over NINE years now and we love each other more than ever. I can't imagine us NOT living together at this point.

I've lived with my boyfriend since October, and it's awesome.

I can't imagine not living together before getting married. How could you jump blindly into that?

People seperate now because they are pissweak shitheads. If i ever take vows, they will be just that: vows. Even if my wife leaves me, i will never have sex wih another woman, because i vowed i wouldn't.

People today aren't half the man their grandfathers were, or half the woman their grandmothers were.

My boyfriend and I have lived together for a year and a half. We went from a large 2 bed/2 bath to a 1 bed/1bath and we're feeling it.

We've been talking about relocating to a 2 bedroom as soon as the rent is up. I need peace and quite to study and personal space for alone time, an he needs a place to call his own as well, somewhere he won't be distracted so he can get his auctions up and study as well.

Cohabitating has presented it cons. But it definitely has pros. For the most part we agree on things and therefore, are more economically better off. Electricity/internet/rent/gas gets cut in half, while cost of food is also diminished a little bit. I have a built in buddy to do whatever whenever. There's always a man around to open jars and bring out the trash. I help him whenever he needs me. We compliment each other well and have learned to better people by compromising with each other and stepping into someone else's perspective.

The only problems we've encountered is being TOO comfortable with each other. There was a period of time when all we did was smoke and watch movies at home instead of going out with our friends. And that was obviously not healthy. We fixed that problem by focusing on our individual friendships and also going out with mutual friends and having fun together.

For the most part, I've enjoyed living with my boyfriend. He makes it so much easier to wake up in the morning. I'm glad there's someone waiting for me when I get home. And I'm happy when he comes home to me.

It doesn't make you a stronger or better person by staying in a relationship/marriage that isn't working out.

Actually, studies do show that cohabitation can be bad for relationships. Too lazy to find them...
