| Art and Design If you like it, is it Art? What is the difference between a good design, a bad design and bad taste? Does form follow function? If something works, does it matter what it looks like? |

I am looking for an H.R. Giger style tatoo. I am considering getting one, but I would need a good example. I would really like to have my shoulder or knee done to look biomechanical in an H.R. Giger type style. Examples would be welcomed, and if you take the time to draw one up yourself and I decide to use it, I am more than willing the reimburse you.

Like a tattoo of the joint? That's fucking sick. This sounds like something fun. I'll give it a try. Pic soon.

Yeah I was talking about a joint. I am also considering the elbow. I like how he uses mainly blacks, greys, dark blues and purples. But if I am to get a tattoo I want to be able to conceal it. I hope to be able to fly under the conservative radar. Especially if I hope to become a lawyer.

Just some examples of the style I am going for.

Oh I love Giger's work! It would make a great tattoo, but the only problem is choosing something. Got anymore specifications to narrow it down a little more?

I think it would be cool for it to look like the inner workings of that part of the arm/leg but Giger style.

I like the examples so far but nothing quite matches it. The ones in the previous link aren't exactly it. They're Giger's work, but not what I am going for. I am going for what looks like gears, hydraulic lines, machined metal, spines, weird things that Giger would envision would be inside my shoulder/knee.

Re: H.R. Giger Tattoo
^^ I think you nailed it, Shiznit Skitzafrantic.
It also just goes to show the idea isn't so unique, and over the years, lots more will be done.
In ten years, everyone and their mother might have HR Geiger tattoos, so I'd think twice about that.

Re: H.R. Giger Tattoo
Argh, I just noticed my post was deleted in the transfer. Here we go again....
Gigers work is more often than not, biomechanical, which... as it says... a mixture of living and nonliving things, meshed together. I can't honestly recall a single Giger image where there were gears, cogs, and hydraulic cylinders. Most of it is usually tubing, along with a sheet of steel, with the odd occasional protrusion and anemic woman modeled from Li (he loved her so very much, so much in fact he wore bread loaf's as shoes).
Even in Birth Machine, there aren't cogs or any real mechanical things, maybe a spring or two. Gimme a few hours to get home and I'll post something along the lines of it.
