Cunning Linguists Languages and their use. What languages do you speak and why? What do words really mean? Can you say things in one language that you can't say in another? Should there be a national language? How many languages should a person know and what are they?

I found this label on www.sciplus.com, its on some kerosene lanterns, and I cant translate it. If I try it as Dutch, it comes out to "Taltlyktor! Far Ej fall case!", and in Swedish, "Taltlyktor! Do not travel Valtas!".

does anyone know what this means?

I put it through too many online translators, i have too much time.

Quote:
quote:Taltlyktor! Far Ej Valtas

norwegian: Taltlyktor! Father Ej Valtas

danish: Taltlyktor! Father Ej Valtas

swedish: Taltlyktor! Father Nots Chosen

finnish: Taltlyktor! Far Ej Might

icelandic: Taltlyktor! Track Ej Roller

dutch: Taltlyktor! Far Ej Falls

slovenian: Taltlyktor! Shaveling Ej Valtas

serbian: Taltlyktor! Headlight Hey Valtas

croatian: Taltlyktor! Headlight Ej Valtas

hungarian: Taltlyktor! Rump Ej Valtas
By the way, if you put the word 'Taltlyktor' into google, it has like one result - the american science and surplus place.

If you put the first word into google earth, guess where it takes you - the american science and surplus store .

I would take that to mean that the word either doesn't exist, or is a misspelling.

"Taltlyktor! Far Ej Valtas!"

It is swedish.

The translation would read: "Camp lanterns, should not be tipped over"
