Default Your Ghibli collection

I'm a huge Miyazaki fan and I'd like to know who else enjoys his works as much as I do. By the way, if anyone has "Mei and the KittenBus" or "Tales from Earthsea", I'd greatly appreciate the upload. Also, if anyone would like to discuss anything involving Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli, feel free to post it here.

My collection:

Castle of Cagliostro

my neighbor totoro

my neighbors the yamadas

only yesterday

panda go panda

pom poko

porco rosso

I've just recently started collecting his works, so I don't have too many.

My Neighbor Totoro (my favourite movie of all time )

Princess Mononoke

Howl's Moving Castle

Spirited Away

In fact, I've been re-watching all the ones I can recently. I've just been renting them up until now, but now I'm actually starting to buy them.

Same thing here but with My Neighbor Totoro. I watched that movie almost every day when I was little.

Ah! thank you for reminding me that I need to dig through my garage for my GOTF and Nausicaa dvds! Of course, I never thought of purchasing that terribly put together "Warriors of the Wind". That just made me cringe.

Nausicaa is probably my favorite after Princess Mononoke, I really fell in love with the whole idea of plants adapting to the poisons that we are putting into the world.

Check out Origin: Spirits of the Past. Great film with a similar plot.

I just thought of this, but it's an anime story. So, in the summer about 4 years ago, my little brother who was 6 at the time got really sick. He got heatstroke, then flu, and allergies. And when he gets sick, he's sick. So, my mom made spend like 12 out of the 15 or so days he was sick, and all he ever did with me was play Mario Kart, and watch Totoro. I think I watched that about 25 times in 12 days.

I've been at it for years.

Mei was a promotional thing animated to be played at the Ghibli museum. Insofar as I'm aware through research all over the damn place it was never released or leaked. And they're not playing it anymore. The copies in whatever format (VHS? DVD?) are probably sitting in a vault at Ghibli somewhere.

Yeah, I read up on it a while back. I think this is one Miyazaki treasure that my eyes will never see. Unless bootleggers decide to attempt to make a cam version of it :D

If there were any way it would actually help, I would. But I'm going to have to be a downer here and say I don't think it'd help.

Ocean Waves (sometimes known as "I Can Hear the Sea") is a TV movie made by Ghibli in 1993. It was basically a chance for the young staff members do make a film without the help of Miyazaki or Takahata (the two most senior/well-known directors at Ghibli)... nice but not essential, your typical love triangle plot with some nice animation.

The Flying Ghost Ship is a movie made at Toei Douga in 1969 for which Miyazaki was key animator and made some contributions to the script. It's very dated, but it's still a nice sci-fi story.

Neither of these movies have been officially released in English, and I just have VHS copies of the fansubs. I may be able to scrounge up some links to the fansubs if you don't mind downloading.

Nice to find Studio Ghibli fans in this world of Gainax. IMHO, Hayao Miyazaki is a genius. My favorite is Porco Russo, but I have the usual English releases:

Laputa: The Castle in the Sky
My Neighbor Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service
Porco Rosso
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Stumbled in here because I'm currently trying to find Jarinko Chie (Chie the Brat) anime and, believe it or not, the Vietnamese translation of the manga. I'll let you know if I come across anything interesting. Now, back to the hunt... :D

LOL! Actually, too many syllables, but could be the start of a limerick:
"I once knew a girl from Miyazaki.
Who really was fond of her saki..."

I'll leave it you guys to finish the rest; I've got to get back on the Web and find "stuff". :D

Insofar as I know, it was played on loop in the museum as a display/attraction sort of thing. Sort of like how if you go to some exhibit on Egypt or something they'll have a documentary video about the pharos on a loop in a kiosk or something.

I saw a picture of it, but I've never actually seen the film.
