There's a girl where I work that seems to like me. She comes up and says hi and seems interested. I actually like her too and I think she's attractive. The problem is I not very good at having conversations. What kind stuff do talk about this girls that you don't know well in settings like this.

I do ask topical questions and ask general questions, but how I take the next step. I get pretty boring if I ask general questions forever.

It takes two people to have a conversation. Unless you're used to it, you probably can't prop up both sides; you don't want to need to do this anyway.
Why would you be asking general questions? As you get to know her better, you should be able to talk about things that are of interest to the both of you.

As said, you cant do the whole conversation. If its only you asking and her answering, its more like an interrogatory.
But if she is interested it should just flow naturally.
