"Would you wrestle an ostrich?"
I'm completely serious. Use wit to keep that conversation going. If she laughs or plays along, keep her. If she acts weirded out, ditch her.

Be best if ur in a mall or store..and if shes looking at some u can relate to(Movie, cd w/e) you could break the ice quickly over something like that, but u could come across acward if you dont start off right.
Its tough usually just making eye contact and if she keeps it with you as your walking toward her, say hey whats up and just go from there.

Comment on a common annoyance (e.g. nearby car alarm going off). Everyone gets pissed off, at least mildly, at little things in his/her environment. You are both in the same environment, so you automatically have something very small in common. You could also ask for directions to somewhere, even if you already know the way.

I like that.
A random girl approached me once and exclaimed "They're coming." I asked who. We went from there. She turned out to be a nut, but it was fun. Random things like that are pretty cool.
