How do you guys work with this situation. Saw some girl Id be interested in talking to, but had no idea how to initiate a random conversation, with someone I dont know at all...

How does saying "Hi" sound?

Then just pick something about her, and either comment nicely on it, comment in a funny way about it, or ask her opinion on getting one for your sister (not your girlfriend, fer christ sake).

All depends on the location, the girl, and a whole heap of other things. If you are in a coffee shop, ask if you can sit with her cause you'd hate people to think you were alone. If you are in the supermarket, try and get her to help you choose a few different brands of things. If you are at the bus stop, ask her about bus timetables. I don't know - just as long as you are talking.

It's not rocket science - you just need to grow some balls.

Oh, and don't be surprised if she just shuts you down, or walks away. Shit happens. It's her loss, really. But at least you tried.....

A great one is to ask her a question.

Ask her where to find something, thank her and make a comment on something about her.

Bingo, conversation.

What you do after that is up to you.

As you've been told already ask them something that can/will lead to a conversation

i once asked a girl to marry me,...it lead to a conversation and a relationship that lasted about a week, because she was completely insane and not the good kind

ahh, the number of times I've had the hottest girl this side of Venus walk past me and had no cause or reason to talk to them. It's gutting, isn't it?

Some of these ideas are pretty good...may try one at some point..

But yeah, on topic, you probably should go with what the others are saying.

Alternatively, you could stare longignly at their arse and occasionally make comments like 'it's like jelly on springs' and breathing rather more heavily than normal. I find that works more often than not.
