Dealing with my first breakup
I have no idea how to handle it, or what to do. We were together for over a year, and now it's all over because of a really stupid mistake on my part. Anyway, this is my first breakup, as I said, and it feels awful.
Could anybody who's been in this situation before give me some tips on dealing with it and getting past it?

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
Not that I'm suggesting false hope, but if it's definitely over then all you can do is give yourself time.
Sure, try taking your mind off her. Anything you do to take your mind off her is only going to work short term, if at all.
In my experience, it gets better with time so just stick it out.
Drinking your problems away isn't the answer.

No, I was getting ready to move there in the next few weeks.
And it all happened because I used to have a methadone problem, and promised her I wouldn't use it again. I had done so behind her back 2 times before, and I did it again last weekend. I don't know why. Eventually she found out, and said she'd had enough with the lies, and hiding things from her. Really, I don't blame her.
Edit: I should mention, the 2 previous times, she did find out, and forgave me. She told me that this time, she wouldn't forgive and forget. And like I said, I don't blame her. I realize I fucked up bad, and I take full responsibility for it.

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
The anatomy of a school shooting, shotgun under my trenchcoat
Columbiners did it, dead spoke - bloodred soaked
My mind consume the doom as I walk through the school
15 people killed and over 14 wounded
My name is Eric Harris, I was forever harrased, an outcast
You fuck with us and now me and Dylan is pulling out gats
I've been wantin to murder people
Suicide is played out, if you gonna die, take people with you
We've been planning this before the kids from Jonesboro did it
And I wanted the world to know when people died why we did it
I even killed myself but don't feel sorry for me
Feel sorry for your seads as we spread the diesease
Another bloodbath coming soon to a school near you
Smalltown killing-spree that's organized by the youth
Fuck the media, them fags be disguising the truth
Dragging my name through the mud when televizing the news
A bunch of ticking timebombs y'all, is more like me
Overflowin with hate, bullied to get raw like me
They constantly get picked on and shitted on like me
You'd probably get your head blown off by a kid like me
I put my mind to it and what I accomplish's frightening
The right thing, no matter what you idiots might think
Check it, I did that shit so idiots might think
This ain't a game, the nerds that you be fuckin with might flip
It's like this, what's more fun than slice wrist?
Kill that teacher that you hate, spray 25 kids
You'd be famous just like me if you did what I did
This is the anatomy of a school shooting
It's like this, what's more fun than slice wrist?
Kill that teacher that you hate, spray 25 kids
You'd be famous just like me if you did what I did
This is the anatomy of a school shooting
I see dead people, it isn't my fault that they were evil
Fuck a favorite I hate everybody equal
Bitch I warned y'all, didn't I?
Now everybody wanna talk shit and cry asking why
- Two geeks picked up guns and turned murderous
All of y'all under beneath me you don't deserve to live
Two nerdy kids is that a crime?
why I've gotta be one of the cool kids just to walk by
- without being tripped, thrown down on the ground and kicked
Insulting me for no reason, I was treated like shit
The teachers let it happen
I've even seen some of them teachers laughing
That's why I had a smile on my face when I started blastin
I wasn't crazy - all of y'all were sick
I was the nicest person in the world - y'all were dicks
Don't even try to analyze me now you have no chance, back then
- maybe you could've been my friend
It's like this, what's more fun than slice wrist?
Kill that teacher that you hate, spray 25 kids
You'd be famous just like me if you did what I did
This is the anatomy of a school shooting

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
Hey I feel your pain. Most of us have been there more than once. It's a bitch and the pain really sucks, especially if you really did care about the person.
As I have said many times before the best medicine for a broken heart, is a replacement as soon as you can find one. Yes it is selfish, but it helps ease the pain, and besides who knows you might really like the next one even more.
Once you can ocupy your mind with another women you will be much better off.

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
I'm sorry love... all you can really do is give yourself time, and learn from your mistakes. Fill your time with things you enjoy doing, and when the pain and memories come up, LET THEM. If you supress everything, it will build and get worse, and then most likely explode. Breakups are never easy when you love someone... but you will be ok in time.

The thing that I find always helps me the most when I go thought a break up is to have a few drinks. DO NOT GET DRUNK just get a little tipsy, then just let yourself think.

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
wow, been in this situation before...ended up marrying the girl...been married almost 2 years so listen to what I have to say...
I used to have a very bad meth problem, i quit, then I relapsed happens a lot. I had a date with my now wife and I had been up all fuckin weekend, high as a kite. I didn't want to break our date so I took her out anyway. She knew immediately that I was high, but she went along with the date then on the way hmoe she confronted me about it, said she never wanted to speak to me again and I need to do something with my life, once on that road we can maybe talk again...I, being the person I am, gave her a few days to cool off, then called her saying that I needed to talk to her it was very important, she said "fine talk" I told her I joined the military and was leaving in a few weeks for basic training. Needless to say she was speechless that her words had such an effect on me. We stayed in touch and got married a year later, had a kid 11 months after that, and now 10 months after my son was born I am on my way to Iraq. Moral of the story is, do something way above and beyond to let her know that you are serious about her and you are serious about quitting and she will come around, she has already forgiven you twice. SECOND MORAL OF THE STORY IS: DO NOT JOIN THE MILITARY AS YOUR WAY TO GET HER BACK!!!
P.S. I've been clean for almost 3 years, happily married, and really not wanting to leave my family. Hope the story helped/gave you hope.

Do you mean the drug they give junkies at rehab clinics? Where the hell did you get it...And why?
To be honest, I can't blame PH for not staying with you after you were dishonest with her so many times. I mean, my ex boyfriend used to drink all of the time. Seriously, he was an alcoholic by the time he was 20 years old...Completely out of control. He lied to me about drinking like every day and I was unfortunately too dumb to dump him for it. Maybe if I had I would have avoided the numerous beatings he inflicted upon me.

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
Here's some advice: don't take methadone for a while. For some reason, even though they numb you, opiates make breakups that much worse.

Heroin used to be the drug they gave morphine addicts. Morphine used to be the drug they gave opium addicts. It's not like it's a curative drug, it just transfers the addiction. Does much the same thing as other opiates.

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
Dude, I feel for you.
The only thing I can promise you is that the next breakup will hurt a little less, and the one after that even less.
You never get used to it, it always feels like you get your heart and guts ripped out, but it will hurt a tad less each time.

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
Clearly, your only course of action now is to go on a fuckin two week bender of doing methadone, crack, pcp, heroin, and drinking straight Everclear.
You'll either
A: Die
or
B: Wake up two weeks later and have no idea what the fuck you're doing passed out on your kitchen table.

Re: Dealing with my first breakup
Mate, if she was really innocent, she wouldn't break up with you for a methadone habit which is obviously sparodic.
You might have been together for a while, but if she really had any strong feelings for you, she wouldn't have broken up with you for something you did to yourself.
You didn't even do anything to her. This whole thing is not your fault.
Now, what you have to do to get rid of the feeling of guilt, is to stop blaming yourself or at least try not to, look at things from a rational point of view outside of the reason she stated (it's only one reason and it's not very strong, some other things mustn't have been going perfect either), come to a conclusion that it's over and it's not your fault, and focus on something, anything else.
Your first heartbreak is hard, and guilt will make it 10x harder. It's not your fault, mate. Be strong, be a man, and move on.
