Default Taking your ex back.

I'm currently trying to decide on getting back together with my ex.

So i ask you totse, Getting back together with an ex:

a) Really BAD idea and probably wont work out.

OR

b) May work out and you should try.

Do second chances work?

Have you ever successfully gotten back together with an ex partner?

I'm confused

It depends on a lot of things, like how close are you now? Are you still friends? What was the reason for the breakup? Was it a bad breakup or a gentle one? All these things matter make a potential difference.

I just got together with my ex and we're happier now than before. It was a gentle breakup and we remained friends after so it was easy getting back together. It was good because it gave us a chance to step back and evaluate our problems from a different, less biased point of view, so now we can correct them.

I have, but there are loads of things to take into consideration.

How well you get along, why you broke up in the first place etc.

Alright.

We're quite cool now, as friends, and without the 'if i say this i'll lose him/her' factor a lot of things have been able to be said.

Lots of things made us breakup, Things i said, things he said, things other people said.

Some things he did and some things i did (though there was no cheating, so don't think we fucked around).

And distance.

Constant fighting, and we just got tired of it and decided to break it off.

But when the distance isn't there, we're fine.

Also, we're very hypersensitive regarding the other, the other's actions hit home HARD.

Or this is how i have come to explain it.

Also, certain factors are gone that were a problem. and since we now know what the other has problems with.. I suppose that helps.

No "should's" here. If you want to try it again, just remember that whatever it is that drove the two of you apart has to change.

Yes, well, we're going to get rid of the distance (physical), if this works out for two months then we'll do it in a permanent matter.

At a stage of my life, I would have got back together with an ex girlfriend of mine but only in an ideal situation.

We were in a long term, long distance relationship and the distance was a killer... though not the killer, she dumped me because I lied to her [I was in hospital because of bad MDMA but told her otherwise, but thats a different story.]

Anyway... if we had lived a lot closer, but both been at home, it would have worked perfectly.

But we lived 3000 miles away, so we couldn't have both been at home while still close, could we?

And my point is...

In my personal opinion, I think its a bad idea to get an ex. I mean, it really depends on a few things, but in the end you have to realize to yourself what exactly it was that made you leave eachother in the first place, then seriously take that into consideration.

In any kind of situation like this, no one can give you a solid answer as to if it is a good or bad idea. Its something that you and the other person should seriously talk about, and define to eachother what it was that you both think made you guys separate. Then, if you decide to work to make those things change for the better of eachother, then that would be a step forward. However you should also ponder to eachother if you think its worth the effort.

Those are my 2c.
