Nobody can enjoy St Paddy's just quite as much as an Irish guy..
So I gave up drinking for lent, though always planning on taking St Pat's and possibly a few other days off.
It was a hard time, full of dreams about beer, feeling like an idiot when everyone else is drunk and getting pretty high.
So St Paddy's.. not such a good start, I've got a massive hangover from the night before (hey I figured in New Zealand it'd probably be St Pats and I'd handed in my last essay of term).. also I kind of drank a wierd concoction of salt, vinegar and garlic for a dare - not a good combination, I was violently ill.
Anyway, it gets better.. I play some Icewind Dale to fix my head, then I go down and have a half hearted attempt at football and some fluke actually score and our team wins. After that we have a humongous Ulster Fry.. sausages, eggs, bacon, beans, soda bread. It was a veritable feast. We start drinking at about that time.. slowly.. just guinnesses and beers. All tasty.
So at about 8 o'clock, I head down to the bar for a little while and eventually decide to go into town with some friends.. we hit this club with tons of hot girls and I chat to a few here and there, obviously my Belfast accent should have super effect on the holiest of all days.
Eventually I find myself getting off with this pretty decently hot girl, who happens to be 26 and from Kilkenny (amazing, since it's England that I'm actuall in). One thing leads to another and we're back at hers, having sex.
It was alright, but I couldn't come because I'd already blew my load beforehand whilst dry humping. It was just the fact I was finally breaking my dry spell. Felt so good.
Rest of the night, the two of us just cuddle and chat drunkenly.
I think it makes up from last year where I gave up wanking for lent and was getting into this girl but was lacking a condom. God I near died that night, my poor virgin (I was back then) self.
So I'm sorry jack, I know "lay reports" should only be made by mods, I was just thinking someone might like my story.

Yeah... My name's DoctaD and I'm an alcoholic. Ive been sober now for 8 days, and I think it's the first St. Paddy's day Ive been sober since I was in my early teens.
So while I was working and later hanging around sober, doing nothing, my brother would frequently contact me via SMS to inform me of his level of intoxication while at parades in Donegal, hanging out the windows of some strangers car, sitting on the roof of somewhere or other and eventually staggering up the street on his way home.
So I'll put my hand up at being the sober Irishman on St. Paddy's day :-P

Ooh-rah ZM. Kudos for breaking your dryspell, it's always a grand feeling ain't it?
I barely even knew it was St P's around here, besides telecasts of the annual dyeing of the Chicago river. All my friends are gone since I left for the service.

Thanks Jack.
I can agree with Mr Happy on that one.
Tesla, yes sounds bad but don't say you'll never drink again.. you're kidding yourself!
Docta? See.. you give up the other 40 days of Lent.. there should be no reason to give up St Pats.
Guy above me.. thanks for the congrats and hell yeah it feels good. If you can get friends up for it, have a belated St Paddy's day and just get hammered!

My St. Pat's day was alright, laughed at some drunk people and had a party.

I got in a fight a week past on friday and decided it was time for me to stop drinking if I'm to be a responsible father.
Both my parents are recovering alcoholics, and it is very common throughout both sides... although I havent been tested, it's damn near certain I'm one too (yeah, you can get tested for alcoholism.) Because of this, I didn't break my short-term dry spell and drink to celebrate, I just wished I had instead.
...and I gave up religion for lent, many moons ago, and by that Easter I had decided never to go back.

They do not celebrate St. Patrick's day in Ireland. Or rather they do, but only as much as they celebrate any saint's feast day. I had something else to say, but I forgot it. Maybe later...

Please.. as a matter of principle, don't talk about things you can't understand.
St Paddy's day is fucking huge.
Jack, even though I'm from the otherside though tbh, it's only in religion( politics I couldn't give a shit about, other than Sinn Fein and the DUP are as bad as each other and overall I don't involved in the business of are you cat or prod type shit.. that's only for Belfast chavs, I was raised better than that - I have muslims, catholics, protestants all as my friends) though I was in the TA, I still find those t-shirts bloody funny.
They should do a does Bobby Sands want a pasty supper one though.

OMG! *wipes the remains of his 'cupán cafe'(thanks Zonko) from the monitor*
i shouldn't laugh of course, twas a serious business and Bobby was a hero, a great man, but they do say that the sign of a true fanatic is being able to laugh at heresy.
*hums 'The Cry Was Tay Fish Suppers' * :P
