Okay, First off. Im seeing somebody but i wont be doing anything sexual with him for a very long time as im old fashioned with those things and i would much rather wait, but lately i dont even FEEL aroused. I used to just sit in class, start thinking of things and become aroused..like a guy .

I can orgasm very easily, i only need to touch myself for a few minutes and i can get off.. I even worked out how to give myself multiples, i got upto 4 ( this used to be my way of sleeping when my insomnia was bad ). Lately i dont touch myself at all, and i dont feel like being affectionate or sexual at all. just NOTHING, my doctor said this would be a big side affect to my xanax dosage considering its SO high.. could this be what it is? Has anybody else experienced this from a form of medication?, im on 2-3mg of xanax a day as well as anti psychotics and sleeping pills because i have terrible insomnia.

The meds have made my sex drive go to 0, i dont like it but i have to take the medication for a while.. is there anyway to cure this???

You know something??? That is actually not that bad at all. We young people waste a fuck lot of energy thinking about and practicing sex. You can now focus on your studies, job or whatever is it that you do a lot easier. That would be fine for me. That way I wouldn't be thinking about her all day everyday and I'd feel much better....

Anti-depressants can and do stuff around with your sex drive (as well as most of your emotions..) if you are on the wrong dosage, or the wrong medication. They tend to get rid of the "peak emotions" - instead of getting depressed, you may get a little sad. Instead of feeling ecstacy, you feel happy. Instead of feeling horney, you feel, well, not much.

Antidepressants need to be regularly reviewed until the right one and the right dose for you is found. And you need to find the right balance between feeling and not feeling emotions.

My advice? Give them time to take effect (at least 2 weeks or so), and if things don't improve, talk to your doctor about lowering the dosage, or changing the medication.

In my case, my wife got pretty severe post-natal depression after our second child. We tried different things, until she found the right one and the right dose, and she is gradually lowering that one now. We found:

* being on the pill lowers your libido,

* constantly worrying that you should be horney definitely kills the feelings,

* exercise more, eat better and keep busy,

* and don't worry so much.

You'll find if you don't think about sex, the feelings will creep up on you when you least expect it...

Yeah, I was like that when I was on my anti depressants.

The only real way to 'cure' it is to stop taking the meds.

Xanax is an anti-depressant. And have a look on www.drugs.com (http://www.drugs.com) - it lists the side effects as:

*unusual risk-taking behavior, decreased inhibitions, no fear of danger;

*depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;

*hyperactivity, agitation, hostility;

*hallucinations;

*feeling light-headed, fainting;

*seizure (convulsions);

*urinating less than usual or not at all;

*muscle twitching, tremor; or

*jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

Less serious side effects are more likely to occur, such as:

*drowsiness, dizziness;

*amnesia or forgetfulness, trouble concentrating;

*feeling irritable;

*sleep problems (insomnia);

*slurred speech;

*blurred vision;

*appetite or weight changes;

*nausea, vomiting, constipation;

*dry or watery mouth, increased sweating; or

*loss of interest in sex.



So you are on a large dosage, and are suffering from the side effects that it says you will.

I would say change meds, or at least talk to your doctor......

Xanax must be used as a anti depressant in america, in australia they use it as a panic/anxiety disorder drug. I am on it because i started getting panic attacks in my psychosis when my schizophrenia went bad, thats why i noted anti-psychotics.. wow i didnt realise its an anti depressant too...

Luckily I'm on some really good medication now, almost zero side effects!

What are you prescribed them for? And have you tried self medicating with weed? It tends to help a lot, although maybe it not work for you. You might want to try just weed and xanax, or something.

have you tried taking natural supplements like 5 HTP and melatonin?

I have undifferentiated schizophrenia, do you know of any anti-psychotic with less side affects i could take.. because ive tried a few including risperdal and solian and i dont like either. I smoke sometimes but i dont think too much weed is a very good thing for my condition.
