Cunning Linguists Languages and their use. What languages do you speak and why? What do words really mean? Can you say things in one language that you can't say in another? Should there be a national language? How many languages should a person know and what are they?

I live in New Zealand, and so many times I read things saying "blah blah supports breast cancer" or "so and so supports child cancer" or what have you. Of course it means they support research against cancer, not giving people cancer, but I still find it odd.

Does this sort of thing happen all across the english speaking world?

Haha...

I haven't heard those, though I did see a facebook group that was like "Make Genocide History--Darfur!", which I interpreted as having something to do with...aiding a genocide, as in helping to kill more people.

Pretty much.

Like those American morons who say they support the troops, but want them to stay in Iraq so they can get killed or mutilated.

With friends like those, who needs enemas?

None of those people got drafted so I dont see your point... They more than likely signed up during a peacetime thinking they would have an easy job but it bit them in the ass, or they want to go over there to look like a hero...

Either way keep your dumbass in Canada or Australia, wherever you are from.

The Columbus Dispatch once had an article about gun control. On the front page was a picture of a child holding a sign that said:

"Save me handguns, kill kids!"
