I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
I've agreed to tutor this girl I like in maths (sort of just getting together once a week for an hour or so and going over some topics, really) and I was wondering how to develop the relationship further.
She's a boarder at my school in the UK and she got like a D or something in the last exams and I managed to get an A so I agreed to help her out (she brought it up). I don't really know her THAT well, we say hi if we meet in corridors but I haven't been to any social events with her. I think she's somewhat interested in me but one of the problems is she's actually older than me by like half a year but I don't know if she knows it yet :/
So basically, I want if I have a chance to score a date with this girl with me being her tutor and how to go about it. I'm afraid that she might start seeing me as a 'teacher' and keep the relationship at that level.
Should I act like a teacher when tutoring her and be strict and mature? Since she's paying so much to stay in in boarding the academics must be very important to her so she may be more grateful to me if I did that. (I don't want to come off as a complete nerd because she's quite sporty and plays netball and tennis so I'm not sure what kind of guy she would be into.)
Or should I joke around a bit and try to make conversation? (Thing is, I've got a good sense of humour but I don't want it to make it seem as if the only reason I agreed to help her is to hit on her all the time.)
Also since I'm helping her out, would there be a feeling of obligation in her to repay me? I know if someone was giving up their time to do me a favour I would probably feel a bit awkward around them and try to find a way to repay them.
Help...

Haven't you ever heard of an A for a lay?
I think if you help her she will be grateful. She has asked for help, so take it as a challenge to help her, but I mean really help her. See if you can't help her achieve better grades. You will both win in the end. This would be a loving gesture and I think she would see it as a loving gesture too.

Re: I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
Set her this quadratic to factorise
2x^2 + x +45 = 0
While her tiny female mind tries desperately to comprehend the task, knock her out and rape her.

If I were you, I'd tutor her "properly", but use every chance I get to tease her, joke and basically have fun while doing it. Even if nothing comes out of it, it would still be an enjoyable experience, and you'll get to know her better.

Re: I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
^Eh...that might work. However, I think I have a better idea. Be mature and professional at all times. Since she is older she will like that you aren't an immature little prick.
Now how to get her to notice you? Well you need to ask her a favor. Since she plays whatever the fuck netball is, I am guessing that is volleyball, and tennis. She must know a lot of girls.
I would ask her to help you find a girlfriend. Tell her that you aren't very good when it comes to talking to girls, and you were wondering if she could help you find one. This will lead to more time together, and she will see how you are with girls. Might even make her jealous and might even before that happens have her show her true colors on whether or not she likes you. That is my advice :P

Re: I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
So what you're saying is try my best to help her with the revision but don't be too serious about the whole thing and generally try and flirt with her? Sounds like a good plan but I don't want to overdo it otherwise it might look like the only reason I wanted to tutor her was to hit on her but it would be good in small doses.
Thanks for the advice so far.

No, what we were saying was make her wear a gym slip, white knee length socks, regulation knickers and cane her soundly at least once daily (not forgeting to post pics here of course).

Re: I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
Or, you can be creative, and reenact maths so that she can better understand it.
For example, let her be a function, and you - her derivative, and show her that in this case you are tangent to all her curves.
Or, you can be a function yourself, and let her be your integral, in which case she will be the area below you.

Re: I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
Lmao Agent 008.
I'm not going to charge her because that's just kind of retarded and I do actually want to see her do well in the examination.
However will she feel somewhat obliged to do something in return for the time I devoted to her?
I actually have very little to do after school on most days anyway so its not like as if I could be doing something any more constructive for myself...

Re: I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
*hops into the mind of 90% of white girls at her school*
Be mature and sensible, but warm and fun too. Set her some questions or a past paper and be like "Blahlah do this for next week and find me if you get stuck". Chuck in a few reeeally hard questions, maybe even make a mistake in one so she has to find you and ask, or be like "how're you getting on with those?" next time you see her about school.
If she likes you then she'll welcome any excuse to talk to you. If she has an exam or whatever coming up or is struggling, then suggest a longer session or another session at lunch or something. If she has a really ard topic then go throughit with her after the lesson at lunch time.
How long have you been tutroing her? It'll probably take a while for her to be all jolly with you and stuff. You should make the move to say hi or have a quick chat when you see her about school, it's likely she'll be nice back and appreciate it.
Can I ask what year you two are in?
Oh don't worry about being half a year younger, forever ago I had major jonses for a boy a fair few months younger and he was pretty shit at maths(one of my best subjects).
edit: hmm, this boy tutored me for chess three lunch times a week for a half-term, and i didn't really feel i owed him anything. i guess 'cause he offered and it wasn't really an inconvenience to him, just someone new to play with at chess club. i'm just all thankful and nice to him and will say hi if i see him about the boys school

Re: I want to date this girl that I'm tutoring.
Thanks for the advice Isobutane, I haven't actually started tutoring her yet but will start every Tuesday after school 2 days from now. I'm just afraid of being stuck in the 'just teacher' part of a relationship with her in the sense that some boys are viewed as 'just friends' to girls.
I'm doing my As levels this year (In the UK after As levels its the A levels and after that it's university) and am 16 (17 in 2 months) and she's been 17 for a while.

I'm in the uk too :]
it shouldn't be hard to be friends, seeing as you're the same age and whatnot. i'd say the first week don't bother with "Homework", set her a bit the second, just make sure you know exactly what you're teaching that week and are really sure of yourself. And be friendly!
