I can identify with you on that. That's the type of person I am too, but shown good intention from my boyfriend, even though it doesn't help the way he'd like it to, it softens me up just to see him try. I don't yell at him or treat him bad just because I'm in a pissy mood.

I actually like when I'm angry and being allowed to be that way. There is a powerful sense of being that I associate with it, and its connection with who I am.

After a time it will dissipate on it's own. Until then, it's just best to back off.

However, you do need to be mindful of your physical expression of it. Later, you could apologize for that and explain to her what you were feeling and how you would like her to deal with it in the future.

It does help for people to know what it is you need from them, and vice-versa.

The reason I said that was because that's how my mom got out of her first marriage. She's told me that since I was young - to never tolerate a guy hitting you. My reaction to a hypothetical violation is yet to be seen, but it I was violently handled by ANY guy and I thought more was coming, I would try to get the hell out before he beat the shit out of me.

I wasn't alive when my mom was with the guy, so I have no idea what the circumstances were, but I would say the situation you're describing is not the rule (as far as the girl being the aggressor).

I don't know, I've seen great guys handle crazy ass bitches so well I wanted to call their mom to tell them how proud they should be. Girls are crazy and we're going to be crazy forever. I'm reflecting back on some of the fights I've seen between boyfriends and girlfriends, and more often than not, the woman is shrieking afwull obscenities, slapping the man, pushing him, trying to punch him, just..really seeming to provoke the guy.

That's just how I view things. I'm a guy and if a girl shoved me, it would just really piss me off. Alot of people have an instinct to react to even very low level violence. I'm one of them and so I have a really strict no hitting policy with girlfriends.

Here's my one rule with being physical/violent with women, may be seen as chauvist, but meh:

I'll never, ever, ever, ever hit first, no matter whan the situation or consequences. Broken nose/etc. be damned, you will never see my hand raised in anger first, I highly prefer not to take any arguement to a phyisical level, since it only makes things worse.

However, if she chooses to hit first, in a serious (aims to seriously hurt/etc.) manner, then watch the fuck out. I fail to see the 'don't hit me, I'm a girl"' thing as a usable excuse if it's already been brought to a physical level. If that's how you choose to respond (again, with an aim to hurt/etc.) then expect me to respond in kind, no exceptions.

Rough? Yes, I know it is. Unkind? I see it as fair/equal treatment, keeping from getting physical is a sign of respect and self control (due to respect for the other person) so seriously hit me and you've automatically lost any respect from me and don't be shocked to see the same reaction back. Equality between the sexes is what's wanted, right?

Yeah, hitting women is wrong.

Stop it. Now. Better yet. Don't get started doing it.

That's exactly what it is. In men there is a level of anger where you just stop thinking and testosterone takes over. Its an instinctual thing, and it's not always bad. If, heaven forfend, someone is raping you or hurting you and your husband walks in that primal level of anger is going to be very useful.

The trick is knowing when to stop the argument and let everyone cool off. Both sexes are responsible for this. Men have to know when their blood is up and when they should just jump in the car and drive. Women have to learn to see when their man is getting into the danger zone and back the fuck off. This is without doubt incredibly difficult because if you back off at that stage, you will amost always come of as 'losing' the arugment, but consider the alternative.

I have never reached that level of anger, but i chave come close and can imagine some women i know and have known pushing me over and above that level if they so choose. Women really know how to push men's buttons.

Now don't get me wrong, i'm not defending wife-beaters. Those type of men have serious anger problems and can go into violent rages because you didn't cook the steak properly. Those people need help. And i'm not talking about the kind of guy who lets his anger build up and then releaes it on his spouse. Again, these people are messed up. However i beleive all men have this 'insanity drive', it just takes different levels of provocation to reach it, and both parties are equally responsible for seeing that that level of provocation isn't reached.
