Does anyone have any thing to say about this? I hate it when people try to shift the blame and say it's not their fault. Unless they were born with a disability or in a very improvrished country they should just STFU...

Opinions?

Well...considering that most poor people aren't taught how to get out of debt and how to survive.

If you were born poor, chances are the person ahead of you being your mother/father had no fucking idea how to manage money, so unless you are a miracle baby you will have no idea either.

The goverment doesn't train people how to use their money or how to balance a budget, or how to use tax loop holes. It just keeps people who are poor poor and the rich rich.

So if someone complains about being poor...they better learn how to play basketball or learn to entertain rich white folks.

This may astonish you, but not everyone in this culture is money-hungry. I left an insanely high-paying but soul-destroying political job in Pennsylvania--now I'm in Alaska, living in a ten by twelve foot cabin with no running water and 10 cats--never had less money or more happiness and peace of mind.

Do your cats eat? Drink?

Sometimes I want to leave society and just go live off the land

Bah, same here. Fuck the world; as long as I am happy, who cares?

BTW, my family is poor, but we used to be quite well to do, then in three years, we moved three times and are just now getting back.

Fair question, deserves a straight answer. . . .My wife and I are separated--she lives 'way up the valley with her son--they are both more or less disabled and unemployable, so I support them with my small retail business, rent the cabin in Wasilla on the grounds of the flea market where I set up my stand. I also do gun shows (tons of fun and very profitable), holiday bazaars and such.

The cat thing started last summer--some slime abandoned three females near my stand and I started feeding them. I named them and we more or less bonded. Silky moved in with me, had four kittens, then went feral and became like a feline bag lady when a pregnant Siamese (Franky) came around and I took her in, since it was winter. Franky just had her second litter--six kittens, all living under my bed. Peachy, one of her first, still lives with me, as do Dingus and Hohner (from Silky's first litter). So between them and a bunch of other feral and/or abandoned cats, I am taking care of about thirty now.

Right now, I am using the comp at Big Lake library. Later today, I may drive to Willow (twenty miles away) to pick up some packages at the post office and maybe get some time on the WIllow library comp. Kathy (my wife) uses a computer that a Xanga friend gave her--her BF is a geek and sort of custom-made one for her and her son.

In other news briefly, life has gotten way better since I quit smoking dope and tobacco and drinking alcohol, and am now in charge of the local NA group. Kathy had stopped doing hard drugs thirty years ago, quit smoking dope when I did, and now does some volunteer work for the local rehab when she is ambulatory.

Mostly I post at paradoxsector, where I co-mod a forum, but the 'dox is down right now.

An interesting article on possum livin: http://www.soilandhealth.org/03sov/0...um/030206toc.h

And an interesting one from our archives: http://www.totse.com/en/ego/making_m...ina173852.html

Competition is not for everyone. Personally, I'm going to try to make some money and move to a tax free country. Somewhere with sandy beaches and tanned/oiled girls. You can trade on the market from anywhere on the globe.

Agreed.

To hell with working forty hours per week for the rest of my life. I'm in art school now, I sell art I've already completed as a side-job, and that's what I plan on doing for a good while. No interest in marriage or family - Too much work.

There are also those of us who could maintain a small to decent sized fortune if we didn't give everything we have away. I'm plenty happy with essentially nothing, so it doesn't harm me in the slightest to shell out hundreds a month to help out people who are practically addicted to the non-essentials in life. I require food, drink, and my already paid-off car...aside from those 3 expenses, I'm essentially a charity.

Totse is getting better and worse at the same time. More diversity and people from different backgrounds and area's of expertise, but also more idiots who make threads like "How easy is it to make a pornsite/online casino/fake weed business/etc"

"For the good I give you good..."

Yeah, the sheer size means you can get quick answers to serious questions, but also means there are a lot of jerks, spammers, and trolls.
