You guy's have been just wonderful,I don't mean 2 b a pest but,friend is making cat and one of the things needed was KMno4(potassium permanganate)said it was sold at sears in a blue bottle used 2 remove iron from filters. Went 2 sears couldn't find KMno4 but, bought Water softener cleaner for use in water softeners 2 remove rust and iron from iron beds. Says on the front it has sodium hydrosulfite and sodium bisulfite. will this work? If not can anything b substituted for the KMn04?

you got the wrong shit, it will not work. go to sears and ask someone there for potassium permaganate if you can't find it.

getting the KMnO4 is an easier method. you can also find it at farm supply stores, but i never checked.

I finally found it at walmart in the fish supplies. It's called "Clear Water" the active ingredient is potassium permanganate.

I looked every where. Thanx!
