? for Wicked Rain
Swis has saved just about every thing you have written, but somehow has lost the Japan Drier and TCE
cold method of cleaning. Don't like having to heat up the kitchen using VE's method. Would you please post the JD and TCE method
one more time. Hope you're not freezing your but off up there! Thanks, WR

first SWIM would like to welcome everyone to this place and for those that are simply returning than welcome back. lets get the party started.
i just wanted to post this extraction method (since it mysteriously disappeared from another unmentioned website) that SWIM learned here from Ware who is batman when it comes to the use of TCE in extracting psuedoephedrine. Ware feel free to edit this to suit you or to suit the forum. SWIM was asked about it at the other website and since someone deleted it i figured why post it again there. SWIM will post it where he found it originly. not trying to step on any toes just want it available to those who want educated and arent in a position to boil solvents peace man.
Chems Needed:
TCE= available at your local auto parts store. ingrediants are: Tetrachloroethylene 127-18-4 & carbon dioxide 124-38-9
the tetra is the chemical the carbon dioxide is the propellent. if you are looking at the right can (red & black) then these will be the ingrediants. NO SUBSTITUTIONS
Japan Dryer is used when varnishing or shellacing in humid weather. it is added to the varnish or shellac to speed up the drying process. available at hardware stores in the paint section. NO SUBSTITUTIONS
the mix desired is 10 to 1
example: 100 ml TCE 10 ml JD
you want to cover the powdered pill mass with 10 times the amount of fluid which we will call purple beet juice.
example: 1/2 inch of powdered pill mass in quart jar would need 5 inchs of purple beet juice. in this example it would be about 500 ml of purple beet juice needed.
so spray into a clean empty jar 500 ml of the TCE then pour in 50 ml of JD shake well and then pour it on the pill mass in the other jar. let it soak for 3 minutes NO MORE THAN 3 MINUTES. got it? good.
here is the step by step SWIM did in his first test run complete with list of active ingrediants and inactives.
ACTIVE INGREDIANTS
Ephedrine HCL .60 mg
tripolidine 2.5 mg
INACTIVE INGREDIANTS
methylcellulose
lactose
magnesium stearate
polyethylene glycol
silica gel
starch
stearic acid
titanium dioxide
1...ground up pills with mortar and pestle to a fine powder. weight of pill mass was 21.4 grams
2...passed thru a fine sieve used in canning jellies (its all plastic and works great)
3...measured out 100 ml TCE and 10 ml japan drier. mixed together and poured onto pill powder in 1 quart jar. stirred well and let set three minutes.
4...poured entire jar contents thru a funnel with a single filter and no plug. pill mass was an ugly sorta pale blue/grey. sprayed sides of filter down with TCE from the spray can with tube attached. when all pill mass was in bottom of filter it was removed twisted and rung out.
5...opened filter and spread pill mass out on glass plate. as it dried the small clumps were chopped smaller with razor blade. it was left to set untill it was totally bone dry.
6...the dried pill mass was passed thru the fine sieve again. weight of pill mass now 21.2 (a side note of caution here, to avoid the wrath of the wife buy your own fine sieve strainer from canning section of store. dont use hers as it will smell of japan drier untill the end of the time)
7...placed pill mass in clean quart jar. poured in 250 ml of denatured alcohol. stirred let set an hour. decanted, evapped,
repeated two more times.
8...took scrapings from 3 evaps (they were ugly blue/grey (but SWIM had faith in ware and was not worried) poured 100 ml of acetone on the crystals and stirred and stirred and voila white crystals crashing out of tone and the tone was now the ugly blue/grey color. decanted tone spread crystals out on plate to finish drying and they were beautiful snow white crystals SWIM had to put on his sunglasses they were so white lol.
out of a possible 8.6 SWIM`s insane friend got 7.4
the last time (about the 10th time) SWIM did this method was his best yield. out of 18 boxes of 24 ct white 60`s 25.9 grams was the maximum possible. SWIM got back 25.4. SWIM never got less than 90% with this method on the white 60`s. click on the image link at bottom of pageto see what they looked like. pinwheels you can read a newspaper through, as it should be:
alwaystired posted that it worked great on the name brand 30 mg red hots to. de-redded first of course.
here are some results SWIM recieved from Greenhorn on some 120`s using the above method:
swim thought that wicked and all of you might like to know swim had positive results from 120s.
swim took one varience to the directions, swim chose to filter the DA pulls before evaping them the list of actives and inactives are as follows:
ACTIVE:
Pseudophedrine hydrochloride 120 mgs
INACTIVE:
carnuba wax
colloidal silicon dioxide
dbasic calcium phosphate
hypromellose
magnesium stearate
microcrystalline cellulose
polyethyleneglycol
polysorbate 80
titanium dioxide
pill id-L054
swim gets these 20 a box for about 3 bucks so he thought he would give it a try. out of a possible 4.8 gr. he got back 3.1......not bad for a newb he thought.
and there you have it folks. hope this helps.

Re: ? for Wicked Rain
lol thanks Jam for coverin SWIm`s back and making this available to bill.
bill sorry about not gettin back to ya sooner my man. SWIM has been out on a 3 day post rxn knock down dragout rock & roll party in the streets lol. you get my drift.
anyways a few things ill add here, when you 1st cruch your pills run them thru a fine sieve strainer before you put the TCE/JD on the pill mass. after it sets the 3 min and you pour it in the filter, the filter has drained and been wrung out and the pill mass has been put on a glass plate to dry. let it dry totally then run it thru the fine sieve again. do your alky pulls, evaps, and then run the dried scrapings thru the fine sieve again. tone wash em as per the write up and let em dry totally and run them thru fine sieve again. they are now ready for the flask. the reason for the fine sieve between each step is so that the solvents make FULL contact with the ENTITRE surface area of the pfed. any clumps and chunks will retain undesirables. SWIM also runs his RP thru the fine sievebefore it go`s in the flask. SWIM also makes sure his I2 is crushed to tiny flakes with a glass stir rod before the flask. so its like this, pfed run thru fine sieve before flask. RP bone dry and fine sieved. I2 crushed to flakes with glass rod. ALL 3 reagents BONE DRY as to be able to make a PRECISE measurement of DH20. doin this will insure that the entire surface area of each reagent is exposed to the other. prolly more info than you wanted or needed but SWIM has found that it produces results that are an improvement over not doing it and thats the goal, improvement.
oh and about the freezing of SWIM`s butt lol SWIM got home at 1am. it is now 310 am the temp is 37 below zero F. starlit night clear as a fuckin bell. it will get far colder towards morning. its always coldest just before the dawn. SWIM dont freeze, he is alaskan. he lives for this shit.

No problem, Kirby. Many thanks to ya WR. Yes, I know about those all nighters and bayin at the moon. Shit, I love it too! Will
make sure this info is copied and pasted or hand written this time as not to lose it again. Excellent info about using the sieve for the pfed and rp, you are an innovative
piece of work, dude! I can't imagine 37 degrees below zero. As always, take care and later on.

Re: ? for Wicked Rain
yep SWIM`s road is maintained by the state and plowed/sanded etc. its only 2 lane with no shoulder and sometimes it might take em 2 days to plow the thing after it snows but SWIM dont care. his big 1 ton dually crewcab with an 8 inch lift and 38 inch tall tires mounted on 19.5 inch rims go`s like a bastard in the snow and ice. theres a bit over 800 carbite tipped studs in each tire. 425 horse 468 cubic inch big block chevrolet puts power to the meats. bitch will pass anything but a fuckin gas station LOL.

Re: ? for Wicked Rain
What role does the JD play in this procedure? Is it just there to help the material dry faster after the TCE step?
Swim obtained a little bottle of something called JD from an art store. If anyone could confirm that this is the right stuff, it would be appreciated.
Label: Artists's Oil Medium Japan Drier
Ingredients: Alkyd Resin, Mineral Spirits, Aromatic 50 Solvent, Cobalt Naphthenate
Swim is concerned that this may not be the right stuff and that it is the source of a waxy material in his E.

i get the tires for about 165 apiece bill. all they are is motor home tires mounted on a 19.5 inch 8 hole wheel. the bigger class A motor homes that use a chevy chassis such as open road etc. run these wheels. i stud them myself. several years back i got about 80,000 of these studs at a military auction. all you can get now is the aluminum pavement friendy studs that only last 2 seasons max but they dont eat the pavement. these studs i use will leave a 1/4 inch stud sticking out when the tire wears out lol. looks like a porcipine.

The only ingredients used in JapanDrier...aka JD(as used here):
•Petroleum Distillate CAS#: 64741-41-9
•Naphthenic Salts CAS#Ingredient CAS Code: X
i guess there are a few different mixtures of different chems to speed the drying of varnish`s and oil based paints yet all of them are called japan Dryer. the one you want is made by kleanstrip. the liquid is dark dark purple. try this addy for a pic of the can of right shit: http://161.57.220.62/forum/data/Wicked_Rain/2004158314_JD1.jpg
if that dont work cruise over to wet dreams and look in the forum called
pixie dust extractions/
SWIM`s adventures with TCE/Japan Drier/
4th page/
9th post down/
the cobalt napthenate is the napathenic salts but SWIM thinks the alkyd resin and/or the aromatic solvent is fuckin you up. the way it works is the TCE breaks down the long chain molecule of the polymers and the napathenic salts in the JD gives the polymers something to stick to besides the pfed (psuedo) however just as the writeup says if you leave it soak to long in the mix the polymers WILL recleave to the pfed. 3 minutes in the juice max then filter. SWIM dont recomend doin more than 400 pills at a time since anymore than that takes so long to drain thru the filter that it starts recleaving while in the funnel/filter. SWIM does 250 pills at a time to be sure and avoid this problem. you can reuse the juice for the next batch of pills up to 3 times. after the 3rd batch of pills chuck the juice. for example lets say you have 750 pills. you will do these in 3 batchs of 250. pour/spray 250 ml of TCE in a clean jar. mix in 25 ml of japan drier. stir/shake the two untill mixed totally. crush your 1st 250 pills and run them thru a fine sieve strainer to powder them. put em in a clean jar. pour your mix on them. watch the action in the jar. almost like alka-seltzer. time them to 3 minutes pour the entire jar thru a SINGLE coffee filter in a funnel (pre-wetted with TCE of course) wring out the filter when its drained being carefull not to tear the filter. right away spread the shit out on a GLASS plate to dry. repeat all the above steps with your next 250 pills using the same TCE/JD juice. then repeat again on last 250 pills. do it as written and do not deviate from the write up and all will be jammin. change anything at all and the shit comes back fucked up dont even post about it cuz you will be chastized for not following directions as SWIM has now done this well over 100 times and it jams. so SWIM knows if you do exactly as written with exactly the same chems then it works killer.

Re: ? for Wicked Rain
Thanks for clearing that up. It appears that what swim purchased was artist's oil medium with some JD mixed into it. Finally progress can be made toward the holy grail of sleep deprivation.
