Iodine and bleach
When extracting the crystals from the tincture there is another method other then using peroxide and that method uses bleach instead. I've never used this method but i know that you dont need to use as much bleach as you would peroxide. I have a friend who used bleach and used way more then he should have used and when he dumped it in with the tincture everything went clear. Is there a step that he missed or is it still possible to get the crystals out or should he just dump it down the drain? One other thing that was interesting, this mixture smelled almost identical to chloroform not quite as strong but almost exatcly the same smell. Is it possible that he has made some crude form of chloroform? Any comments or suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Iodine and bleach
The method you're speaking of is in the inorganic chem section of rhodium.

Re: Iodine and bleach
Swim's not sure, but swim thinks he heard that an excess of NaOCl will destroy the I2-or was it H2O2 that does that?
