Default LSD

Does any one know of a easy synthisis for it. I've been reading alot of diffirent procces for making it but with my limited but ever expanding chemical knowledge I have come to the conclusion im not ready to make it. But I would appreciate a easy synthisis for the reason of understanding of why said chemical when mixed with other said chemical produces a new compound.

Basicaly im just trying to indulge in my love of chemicals and chemistry.

P.S. I have already been through Rhodium

There are "simpler", more theoretical methods on rhodium.

However, here is the reason why Meth is so common these days and LSD so rare:

Meth, as many people have discovered online, is relatively easy to make when you have the correct information. However, LSD, even with the correct information, is still rather difficult to manufacture.

I'm afraid it will take quite a bit of time to learn how to make LSD... sorry

Maybe you should look into working with morning glory seeds.

Yeah it seems hard to make but its just another challenge for me. But i guess if i could make it by the market around here it might be worth the time and effort studying and gathiring sources.

hey, somebody's gotta do it, right? the handful of lsd producers in the us will probably be all/mostly dead by the time i'm 50... somebody's gotta pick up where they left off. how do we know it won't be some totseite? i say that whenever an lsd question arises, we all do our best to answer it... the future needs producers, and what happens if we shoot them all down before...god damnit, i just lost my train of thought.

the handful of LSD producers also are very likely to have a PH.D. in chemistry, or were taught by someone with one. second of all, even if you could make it, you would still need to find a source for ergot if you want even a 20% yield. the problem with acid is it is very reactive as is produced at a relatively low yeild even if you do everything right. i'd suggest leaving it up to the pros.

LSD synthesis is by far not as simple as LSD synthesis.

However don't let that discourage you. The procedures involved for any LSD synthesis are standard organic chemistry procedures that any organic chem student can perform with relative ease. It doesn't even take a degree. If you can look at a patent and understand it and visualize in your head the procedures, you can make LSD. If you read Albert Hoffmann's original patent you'll find that the first LSD was synthesized from not so pure lysergic acid, using easy to make and acquire chemicals, and fairly simple procedures and equipment. Hydrazine is synthesized from otc items, and refluxed with LSA producing the hydrazide. After procurement of the hydrazide from that reaction, it's added to a HCl solution and cooled. This is added to a cooled solution of NaNO2, thus converting the hydrazide to the azide. Of course diethylamine will have to be synthesized (plethora of viable methods from otc products). Ethanol solution of diethylamine is mixed with the azide, which is allowed to sit in the dark for several hours giving racemic LSD. Use a chromatography column to separate the d-LSD from the l, and use methanolic KOH to convert the l into racemic LSD, from which the d is separated. This is repeated until you don't feel like doing it anymore, or you have a negligible amount of l-LSD left.

Now it is actually pretty easy to synthesize LSD. It's gonna take an initial investment thats not to bad but worth it. If you don't own any glassware then expect to spend thousands. It's gonna take a lot of time, patience, and a whole lot of elbow grease. Not to mention a dedicated chemist.

The big problem in LSD synthesis lies not in it's production, but rather in acquiring a suitable precursor. Lysergic acid and all it's amides are so resricted it's not even funny. As far as I know no OTC products contain any worthwhile amount of LSA or amides (think of the ass loads of seeds you'd have to extract, and the amounts of solvents, work, money, and time required to extract that assload only to get a few grams of starting material). Perscription lysergamides are hard to come by and would take forever and a half to save up a worthwhile amount.

What you would have to do is either find an infected rye crop, and culture naturall ergot, or order a specimen from a company. You'd have to take the time to make and take care off gallons worth of liquid media in which to culture the ergot. Then exraction and drying of the fungus, followed by extraction and purification of the amides contained in the ergot. Thats an accomplishment in itself. This is the main reason why it's not being produced on a large scale and distributed by an assload of people. Otherwise it would be everywhere.

I am sure there are your curious organic tinkerers out there who have managed to make small amounts of their very own LSD, but it's far and few between.

Shit, I can think of 2 or 3 routes from lysergic acid that are fairly simple. They require nothing more than the equipment and know how of the following things: reflux, distillation (regular, fractional, vacuum, and vacuum fractional), basic measurement skills (volume measurments, and scale use), a mag stirrer, extraction and washing of solvents (a/b extraction), filtration (including vacuum), and basic chromatography skills (mainly using a column, simple shit), and thats about it. Also remember to use photographic darkroom lighting, use inert atmosphere whenever possible (nitrogen, helium), always wear gloves becuase of absorbancy through skin, and all those kinda little things. Always store lysergic compounds in opaque containers, or cover them with aluminum foil. You can also use aluminum foil to protect reactions from ambeint light by wrapping up the glassware.

If SWIM had the place to do it, and the nesseccary funding, he would be starting a culture of ergot right now. SWIM has all the equipment to do it with, and hasn't even had a chance to utilize that column he bought for chromatography. Somebody has got to do it sometime, or we may say goodbye to LSD pretty much.

Shit if your an organic chem student you don't even need your own lab. Most colleges leave the labs open to students largely unsupervised. If lysergic acid were as easy to get as safrole, students would no doubt be whipping up hellacious amounts of LSD instead of MDMA, which is notorius for production by students on campus.
