For those of you who have made ephedrine this way - take a few small crystals of your white ephedrine powder and heat it on a peice of foil until it evaporates.

When I did this, it first turned greenish and then left a sticky brown residue. I did another tone bath on the crystals and redried and attempted the heating on foil again with the same results. Gaseous ephedrine seems to be coming off the crystals - but what are these contaminants left behind? Is this the way ephedrine reacts or are my crystals impure?

I used a generic 120mg brand of PE pills - could it be because these are probably time release that my product is impure?
