ANYone have any ideas??

Ok you guys, I read and read and studied and studied... my 3rd actual dream and I got accross the finish line. OF course, I did this in one tiny little step (just to make sure it was the correct path) and BEAUTIFUL... had a little "gak" but cleaned quite well with acetone flash. BUT!!! my second pull (much larger because of renewed confidence) turns to beautiful snowy white flakes... won't burn AT ALL... turns almost to chaulk (beige chaulk) when put on foil. How the heck did I get chaulk from almost no GAK on 1st pull? Is it because 2nd (more confident) pull was larger? How can I clean it? Is my 1st little pull gonna be it for this dream??? Please help this newbie...

I will patiently await any and all response from the totse gods...

please do not be offended by my digression away from your questions.

when you say first pull,,do you mean you A/B the oil from the red/iod reduction,,then tried a 2nd A/B from the same oil..

if so,,there may be no more to kick out of the solution..

if your term pull,,means gassing,,then no your second gas should be very productive..

or

your suttleila,,as your writing style and question hints at,,which means the term pull means your still not able to leave yourself alone

im very impressed by your ability to read and study,and then complete a successfull reduction without the need to seek the forums counsel..

and... this is pretty much the reason I haven't ever posted a question, fear of looking the idiot.. (that and pure "I can do it" stubbornness)

I quess what I meant (need/should have) said was, After the (3) washes in the sep. funnel... all the good stuff should have migrated over to my water layer (I hope)... I put a small amount (I used the term pull, sorry) in my evap. dish... got pretty stuff that burned good, better after acitone cleaned... When I went back to sep. funnel to retrieve the rest of the layer I got the same results (much larger quantity) but it won't burn. ? and smelled like muratic when evap'ing..??

Feel free to verbally kick my @ss... I don't offend easily.

No, but am narrowing it down to Lye. Any way to reverse the damage after it's been evaporated and cleaned into un-usable powder?

The first little squirt got pretty crystals, rest of same layer was flakes.

if you washed the oil from a red/iod reduction..

then the oil will not go into the water as it is basic,,

the crap does,,

try adding some nonpolar solvent,,

you should find the oil will go into that

Thanks so much for keeping this dream alive, no nightmare's... a little tossing and turning... upon awakening found that all was well. In this dream there was TCE-JD of generic pseudo 120's (only diff in my dream is acetone ends up a really pretty tuquoise color not grey) I can post the active/non active's if anyone wants...

Swim dreams of mixing the rxn(reaction)water with VM&P naptha, then adding lye water until pH is about 13. Then swim decants naptha and puts in in another container with some DH2O, and adds H2SO4 until pH is 7.
