Decomposing Ammonium Nitrate into Nitrous Oxide
NH4NO3 --heat--> 2H20 + N2O
This is what many chemistry books I have read say how nitrous oxide is industrially produced.
It also said that NH4NO3 is used as fertilizer. Is it possible to obtain or make pure NH4NO3?
Is it feasable to heat the substance with plans to inhale?

Re: Decomposing Ammonium Nitrate into Nitrous Oxide
Ammonium nitrate is easily obtained as fertilizer, but it's best you make sure it is pure as decomposing other fertilizers can produce toxic gasses. It is kind of impractical to decompose amnitrate for inhaling purposes as storage becomes an issue.

Re: Decomposing Ammonium Nitrate into Nitrous Oxide
My first intent in this idea would be to locate pure ammonium nitrate.
What is the storage issue?
Say that I heat the NH4NO3 in a flask with a tube coming from the top and inhale the warm gasses from the tube - is this a bad idea?

Re: Decomposing Ammonium Nitrate into Nitrous Oxide
aren't there easier ways to get NO2?
