Besides makin' dope, could anyone give examples, outlines or weblinks of experiments that one could perform at home(preferably using household products and chems) that teach the fundamentals of acids/bases, reductions/oxidations, and organic chemistry in general? Somethings that are not too simple yet not too complicated and perhaps fun and worthwhile.

sure,

try getting a few good buds and extracting the thc oil from them,,then play with purifying it,,heaps of fun that leave you comatose on the lounge..

try extracting the hallucinogen from datura,,best test that on the wifes cat though..

fun has been had identifying the frog sweat from queensland cane toads that make the mung beans flip there lid..

when yourve done those 3,, get back to me and ill have some more for you..

hey kirby, how would you go about extracting thc oil from buds...

grind the buds up as fine as you can,

spoon into a rotating flask,

add 250 ml of isopropyl or methanol per oz,

attach flask to your roto evaporator,

spin flask and heat to 60c whilst running icy water through the condensor.

after 3 hours,

filter out buds and sell,

evaporate extraction solvent,

the brown oil is your hash oil..



or just add it all to an erlenmayer flask,,add the condensor

heat flask and cool vapour,

etc etc

hey thx kirby, swim always wondered about how that was made...gonna have to try it... proly have to "ghettofy" the spinning flask and crap but thx for the info....swim thinks the leftover weed proly wouldn't be worth smoking but he could get rid of it to some pothead for cheap

many moons ago,like 1976, all the stems left over from pruning buds to saleable items,,,

i and a mate ground them all up and put them in a jar with some methanol,,the jar into a pot half full of peanut oil and onto a hotplate,,,heated for 3 hours adding methanol as the level dropped,,sieved the mess through a football sock,,then evapped the methanol,,to leave this surprisingly good hash oil....

that dirty sock proly added some flavor

swim allways put ground up buds ina jar, added enough 99% iso al (rubbin alcohol) to cover mass, shake n soak a bit, screen out solids, evap on a scrapeable plate while doing a secound pull from solids. looks cool ona plate, like grains of sand.
