Tried-n-True Ghetto synth:

5 grams of ephedrine hcl, 3 grams of sodium cyanate and 25ml of water were gently refluxed in a clear beer bottle sitting in a 40watt lava lamp base with a balloon condenser for 3 hours.

When the solution cooled, n-carbamyl-ephedrine hcl crystals precipitated. The liquid was discarded and the crystals were refluxed in 15ml water and 15ml of 32% hcl for 3 hours.

Once cool, sodium bicarb was slowly added until the acid was nutralized and the freebase trans-3,4-dimethylaminorex crystals precipitated out.
